Weekend Inspiration ~ What To Do With Worry

I decided to write this post because I heard this word a great deal this week…Worry. There is a plethora of things to be Worried about today, isn’t there? We not only have our own personal Worries, but now we have major global Worries too and all that Worry does not allow us very many moments of Peace, does it? It sounds like Worry has become a prevalent thing, something that has become a part of daily life. And that bothers me…because Worry is not the natural state we human beings are supposed to live in. Yet circumstances have led us here.

So…I wanted to share a little trick I use to help me stay out of the ”Worry Whirlpool”. I have used this trick for a long time and taught it to others…with great success and results. It is simple and makes sense.

Here’s the thing…in any given day, there are some things we can change, and some we cannot. But we Worry about them all, which can stop us from living life. So try this…if there is something we can and is possible to change in the next 15 minutes, go do it and make that change and move on. But, if there is no solution to be had in that 15 minutes…then just for those 15 minutes…let go of it and do not Worry. It’s only 15 minutes…and if nothing can change…then why Worry about it. What good would Worrying do in that 15 minutes if that Worry could not change anything.

And by the way…Worry NEVER changes anything. It can’t…so why do we give so much Power to it?

Now…when that 15 minutes is up…look to the next 15 minutes. Repeat. And so on…until we can retrain our brains out of the Worry Whirlpool and teach it that Worry is useless. It only takes our energy that we should be spending on finding a solution or being happy in our lives until the thing can be resolved.

Nowhere is it written that we have to suffer through our problems. We suffer through Worry…we solve the problems. Make sense? And too…how many of the things we Worry about happening actually ever come to be? Think about it.

Without all that Worry playing out…we have energy and time to actually be present in our lives and experience it moment to moment no matter what that moment holds. We spend so much time Worrying about the past, and what the future will hold, that we miss the enjoyment of just being ourselves in the now. Which is the best part of us.

I hope you will try this bit of a trick and allow yourselves a break from Worry. Start to imagine what you could do with all of that time and energy used up by Worry…15 minutes at a time.

Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“Happy is the man who has broken the chains which hurt the mind, and has given up worrying once and for all.” ~ Ovid

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

I have written a lot about letting go of Worry…and how it really has no valid purpose. Worry does not solve anything, It does not make us feel better…it can’t cook, or sew, or think, or work, or caretake, or fix things. It is virtually useless! We cannot depend on Worry for anything. So why do we give it so much time and energy? Cast it off and break those chains, we must. We have the Power to do that. Worry only has the Power we give it. Pffft…Worry is such a wimp.

TH 2

“Too often we visit the well of divine abundance with a teacup instead of a bucket.” ~ Elinor MacDonald

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Too often, we limit ourselves. Why? Because we think we are unworthy of all that we desire. So we say…if I only had this, I would be happy…or, please, just send me that, and I will be ok. But the Higher Powers, God, The Universe (or by whatever name you aspire to) keep telling us we can and do deserve to have it all. And sadly, we still do not believe. But if all the teachings are true…and there is unlimited divine abundance and enough for everyone…then let’s grab our buckets and fill them up. What have we got to lose? Let us open our hearts to everything, because the only one who questions our worthiness, is we ourselves.

TH 3

“Do handstands. Dance. Bound up a hill. Sing with your child. Write something with a light and lifted heart. Be love, and compassion, and joy. Live life just for fun.” ~ Leo Babauta

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

This made me Giggle. And Giggles are good…so I posted it for you all today…so you could have a Giggle too. Now…go Dance and Sing and Love and Live…just for Fun. After all, that is the true reason we are here!

Weekend Inspiration ~ Why Worry

Worry 1

If we really think about it…how many moments, thoughts, and energy do we spend on Worry? Also, if we think about it, how much does that Worry serve us? Does it help solve problems? Does it make us feel better? Does it bring solutions or peace? Most likely, the answers here are no. Because Worry is a rather useless emotion. It burns up energy, takes our thoughts away from creating, and makes us feel wretched about whatever it is we are Worrying about…instead of helping us.  So, what if we stopped Worrying so much…and started Trusting.

Here is a trick: In the next 15 minutes, if you can fix what you are Worrying about…go do it. Get it off your mind. But…if in the next 15 minutes you can’t do ANYTHING to solve, fix, or get rid of whatever you are Worrying about…then for that 15 minutes…do not Worry about it. For 15 minutes, allow yourself the break from Worry, because Worry will not fix it…and if you can’t in those moments, than how is Worrying going to help? All it does is tie us up in knots and rob us of our quality of life.

So try this trick today. For 15 minutes, do not Worry. Then try 15 more. Then turn that into an hour…and so on. Nothing will change or go wrong if we don’t Worry.  I think we tend to believe that if we are not Worrying then we are not taking problems seriously.  But, we can give them due energy without burning up that energy with Worry. AND…consider the abundant amount of extra energy to put towards a positive solution you will have when you funnel all of that Worry energy into something productive.

And one more thing…how many of those things we Worry about and imagine ever really come about or happen?

So, go ahead, give it a try. And have a Worry free 15 minutes…couple of hours…half a day…all day! You deserve it! Blessings!

Tuesday Affirmations ~ Faith In The Future

Good Tuesday Morning! I have not done a Tuesday Affirmation for a couple of weeks, so today I felt the call to seek my “Gifts of Affirmations” cards by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber and see what message they have for us today. As always, the card I pulled speaks to us as we navigate through this awkward and difficult time. The card I pulled was…

Gift of The New:   “I Have Faith In The Future I Cannot See”

Message: “ Use this gift when you are worried or anxious. These feelings are usually caused by our attachment to either a particular outcome or to wanting to know exactly how things are going to turn out. We have the power to change our future. How many of our past worries never came to pass?”

Faith 3

from The Desk of MarDrag:

With all that is going on in our lives and the world right now, it is hard not to worry and have anxiety. But consider that…so much of that worry is anticipation about what might happen and how we will be able to handle it. We can spin many tales in our minds and hearts about the “worst case scenario”, and then hold on to it, creating deep anxiety and stress. And sometimes, that energy helps to create what we are most afraid of, because that is what is foremost in our minds.

So, consider the act of staying in the moment and not projecting into the future. In this very moment, are you ok? Is what you are worrying about still just a thought, or has it happened? Is there still a chance a solution can be found? Have you worried in the past about something that never happened?

Faith 4

There is a saying: For every problem there is an equal solution. A problem cannot exist without its counterpart, the solution, or then it would not be a problem. Believe that. Every problem absolutely has an equal solution.

Now, focus on the belief in the solution, instead of just focusing on the problem, and the channels open up so the solution can flow through. That is where the Power is. And in doing this, we eliminate all those moments, hours and days of anxiety and we retain some quality of life as we go through the difficulty.

Faith 1

Just because we can’t see a solution in the moment…does not mean it is not there. And just because we have a problem(s) does not mean we have to allow it to color every area of our life and feel bad about ourselves or lose our daily dose of joy or peace. Do not give the problem that much Power. Keep your Power for the solution.

Have Faith that the future you cannot see contains what you need and desire…and that energy will help to create those things rather than building on the problem. Have Faith that, just as you have done before, you will pass through your difficulty and thrive.

Thoughts For The Day

“Come from the heart, the true heart, not the head. When in doubt, choose the heart. This does not mean to deny your own experiences and that which you have learned through the years. It means to trust your self to integrate intuition and experience. There is a balance, a harmony to be nurtured, between the head and the heart. When the intuition rings clear and true, loving impulses are favored.”  ~ Brian L. Weiss

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

I love the last line of this quote. I speak a great deal about love here on this blog because I think it has been lost in the hearts of many. Somehow, we have morphed into a materialistic world that lives too much in their heads…always on the phone, computer or television. Our days are filled with moving from one tech device to another…with no time in between to just sit and think, star gaze at night, or daydream. The latter of which comes from our heart and cultivates intuition. The new intuition is Google! So, consider striving to find a balance…and as the quote says…integrate the head and the heart. It is from our feelings, and love, that intuition springs. And that is what we need to heal and make things right…with our own world and the world in general. Listen…to your heart and your head will have the right answer.

“How would your life be different if…You stopped allowing other people to dilute or poison your day with their words or opinions? Let today be the day…You stand strong in the truth of your beauty and journey through your day without attachment to the validation of others.”  ~ Steve Maraboli

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

How many times a day do we chastise and judge ourselves because of something someone said to us or about us? How often do we adopt an attitude or make a choice because of what we think people think of us, or will think of us? How much of our energy and thought process is taken up with worrying over this dilemma? And what do you think would happen if we stopped worrying and spending valuable energy on being concerned about what others think? Freedom…is what would happen. Ultimately, what others think of us is not our business, it is theirs and belongs to them…not us. The only validation we should need comes from within, our Higher Self, and our God or Higher Power. The rest is all changeable and therefore should have no impact on who we truly are within. Give it a try one day. Just for that day, don’t be concerned with anyone else’s opinion of you. And see what happens to your Self Esteem!

“Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live.”  ~ Nora Roberts

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

In this rushed and busy time we live in…not only have we forgotten to listen to and cultivate our intuition…but we forget that there is still Magic all around us. Some days it does not look or feel like it. But…if we take the time to look closely, and notice that someone smiled, or a flower blooms, or we close our eyes to listen to a song that takes us away for a moment…these are all Moments of Magic. And they are so important to the quality of our lives. Take a moment today…or several…and take a look around you, notice the Magic that happens around you. Focus there…and bring that shining moment of light into your life. String a few of those moments together…and you have changed your life for the better!

Tuesday Affirmations ~ Challenges

We are well into another week…but it is a holiday week, so a short one for many people. I hope it is a good week for all! And here we are, ready for another post on “Tuesday Affirmations”. Today, the card I pulled from my deck “The Gifts of Affirmations” by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber is:

The Gift of Courage ~ “I Invent Creative Solutions To The Challenges In My Life”

Message: “Use this gift when you are confronted with a situation that seems impossible to deal with. Sometimes it is better to study a problem until you understand it well and then put it out of your mind for a while. Many scientists and mathematicians have reported that their inventions and creative solutions came to them in a dream or in the reverie of a daydream.”

Challenges 1

from the Desk of MarDrag:

Courage is a powerful gift, but sometimes a difficult one to cultivate. It takes courage to face down problems and obstacles in life, and to find solutions to situations we must take on that are uncomfortable or painful. And with our instincts usually pushing us to find a solution quickly, sometimes we can act hastily, not thinking things through, and make the wrong choice or take the wrong direction altogether. Sometimes, we do not have the courage to stay our hand, pause, and make the decision in our own time and in the best way possible. Life is in a hurry these days, but sometimes we ourselves should not be.

I like the affirmation card for its message to slow down and study the problems of our lives. Only in doing that will we have a good understanding of all the implications and possible solutions available. I know…we say life is moving quickly and we need to keep up. But…are we moving at the pace of life…or should our life be moving at our pace? After all, it is our life and we are in control of it, or should be. We should not be letting life have control of us.

I believe that it is true that, when faced with a problem, if we spend all our time obsessing over it and wracking our brains for a solution, we find it difficult to find one because all our energy and mind functions are focused on the problem itself. We run it over and over, on a loop, and then add anxiety, fear, dread, anger, and frustration on top of it…and at that point, we have no more space in our minds, hearts or emotions to welcome in the answer. The space is full…of things that will not help us.

So, as the affirmation says…what if we take a productive turn in our problem solving technique? Spend the energy on understanding and clarifying the problem. Write it down if necessary. Make a pro and con list, and add a list of possible solutions, even if they sound unlikely. Writing it down helps to get all those thoughts out of our head and put down in the physical. Because the next step, is to let it go and forget about it for a while. This helps in two ways…first, to let our mind have a break and clear out the energy, and second, to open the space and allow the correct solution to come forward. Or to come to us in a dream or half-sleep state…which is actually a great time as the sub-conscious has the time to speak at those moments while the conscious mind drowses.

Letting Go 4

I know some of you can think of a time when you have said, “the answer just came to me”. And, after all your worry, it seemed effortless. Well, the more you work at retraining your problem solving habits, the easier it gets, and the less effort you will spend on them.

Letting go of something important can be hard. But this method really does work. I can say that from experience. I used to be the best top notch worrier of all time. But all that worry got me nowhere but wishing for a padded cell. LOL! When I stopped using all my energy up with worry, and started actively focusing it toward constructive thought, and then letting go, things changed and difficulties seemed not so overwhelming anymore. I realized I could handle them and there was always an answer, even when I could not see it right away.

There is a saying that, “there is no problem that does not have a solution, otherwise it is not a problem”.

Challenges 2

If we remember that for every problem there is truly a solution, and understand and let go enough to allow that solution to present itself, then we are truly the creative problem solving beings we are meant to be and we have conquered the Challenge.

Tuesday Affirmations ~ Have Faith

Sometimes our random thoughts can go down long winding roads and get lost in worries and anticipations that we can get caught up in and unnerve us. So I enjoy Tuesdays…when I have my set of affirmation cards called “The Gifts of Affirmations” by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber before me. I look forward to sharing their insight and wisdom. Today’s card is:

The Gift of The New: “I Have Faith In The Future I Cannot See”

The Message:  “Use this gift when you are worried or anxious. These feelings are usually caused by our attachment to either a particular outcome or to wanting to know exactly how things are going to turn out. But, we have the power to change our future. How many of your past worries never came to pass?”

Faith 1

from The Desk of MarDrag:

From the time we are small and learning about life, we are taught to think about the future. And I do believe that we should consider that what we are doing right now, and the decisions we are making in the present…will shape our future. We need to be and live Aware. But…I do also believe…as I have spoken frequently here…that there are forces at work around us that also have impact on our lives that set to change things…even when we think we have them figured out. There are many “life” dynamics that have a hand on our threads as they are woven in the Great Tapestry of the Universe, and our minds can reel, be confused…with all that to contemplate.

So, it is difficult to be in the midst of a situation, or anticipate our future and not think about what will happen. We ruminate and worry and fret about why, how, and when things will happen…and if they will be as we wish them to be. It is important to set our sights on a goal and work toward it, strive to make it happen. But, with all the diverse dynamics at play, the possibility that things will manifest differently, or not at all, are present. So, this affirmation is true in that, we should not be attached to a certain outcome. What is meant to happen, will still happen whether we worry about it or not. And what if we attach to what we think the outcome should be….and there is an even better one that is meant to come about? Then we have worried for nothing and blocked up the energy flow.

This, of course, does not imply not taking action when necessary or if you know an action will contribute to making the outcome more positive. But we should take action for action’s sake, for the journey, and not “worry” about the outcome.

As the affirmation says….how many of those past worries have actually come to pass?

And I will ask one more question. How many of those worries have turned into something unexpectedly greater than we imagined?

Faith 3

We like to know how things are going to turn out, but if we actually did know…then the meaning of our lives would diminish. All the lessons, experiences and growth would turn to dust, and we would never have anything to look forward to, and we would also have to relinquish our power to change things in our lives because the outcome was already known. So, why try?

So, have faith in your life, in your self, and the gifts you have that make up your character and existence. Have trust in your path, and make your intention to live that path to the fullest and best you possibly can, stay in the present, and don’t be anxious about the outcome before it’s ready to come about…and the future will rise up to meet you.
