“When we live with a solitude of the heart, we can listen with attention to the words and the worlds of others, but when we are driven by loneliness, we tend to select just those remarks and events that bring immediate satisfaction to our own craving needs.”   ~ Henri Nouwen

T1.jpg

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

I have to admit, I kept passing this quote and then coming back again to ponder. It took me awhile to understand and why it attracted my attention so much, but also made me want to look away from it. Solitude and Loneliness can be difficult aspects of life to endure. But as I read this, the difference between Solitude and Loneliness emerged from the mists of the quote. For to be Lonely is to be missing something, to yearn for what is not there. To lament and feel sorry to be alone. But Solitude is the wanting, the desire to be alone, to spend time with oneself in quiet to listen to “life” and its messages. One is external…and one is internal. One we look outside ourselves for validation of and collect words, tunes, songs, sighs and whatever else that feeds it so we can revel in the evidence that proves we should close our hearts. But one…true Solitude…in this we are open and listening and pondering and being…able to quiet the mental chatter and chatter from others so that we can listen to the world and others…and truly hear.

“Remember the child you once were…filled with imagination and wonder? You felt you could do and be anything. That child is the essence of who you are. The wonder is still there inside. It is your limitless spiritual power.”   ~ James Van Praagh

T7.jpg

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

It is my belief that one of the worse things that happens to us as we grow into adults…is that we lose that spontaneous wonder with which we looked at the world as a child. Before we were conditioned by that world around us. I also believe that that childlike wonder does not go away completely. It lurks, and shows itself when we fall in love, or play with our own children, or see something that gives us joy. So, if instinctively we know it is still there…what if we let it out? What if we did not take ourselves so seriously and had a little fun? Even if we know there are things of a serious nature around us, what if we looked at them with the wonder of a child who believes in the possibilities of hope and peace. A child does not know “not possible” for they do not yet know the limitations of the adult world. Let us let our inner child’s imagination out and see what we can create then!

“Your Light is seen, your heart is known, your soul is cherished by more people than you might imagine. If you knew how many others have been touched in wonderful ways by you, you would be shocked. You are far more wonderful that you think you are. Rest with that. Rest easy with that. Breathe again. You are doing fine. Better than fine. You are doing great. So relax. And Love yourself today.”  ~ Neale Donald Walsch

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

There is nothing to add to this quote but that…I posted it today for all of you…as a reminder of who you are and how Magnificent you are. Believe it in its most awesome Truth…and do Love yourself today.

I send Love and Blessings to all of you. May Love and Magic touch your life today. You deserve it!

“Come from the heart, the true heart, not the head. When in doubt, choose the heart. This does not mean to deny your own experiences and that which you have learned through the years. It means to trust your self to integrate intuition and experience. There is a balance, a harmony to be nurtured, between the head and the heart. When the intuition rings clear and true, loving impulses are favored.”  ~ Brian L. Weiss

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

I love the last line of this quote. I speak a great deal about love here on this blog because I think it has been lost in the hearts of many. Somehow, we have morphed into a materialistic world that lives too much in their heads…always on the phone, computer or television. Our days are filled with moving from one tech device to another…with no time in between to just sit and think, star gaze at night, or daydream. The latter of which comes from our heart and cultivates intuition. The new intuition is Google! So, consider striving to find a balance…and as the quote says…integrate the head and the heart. It is from our feelings, and love, that intuition springs. And that is what we need to heal and make things right…with our own world and the world in general. Listen…to your heart and your head will have the right answer.

“How would your life be different if…You stopped allowing other people to dilute or poison your day with their words or opinions? Let today be the day…You stand strong in the truth of your beauty and journey through your day without attachment to the validation of others.”  ~ Steve Maraboli

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

How many times a day do we chastise and judge ourselves because of something someone said to us or about us? How often do we adopt an attitude or make a choice because of what we think people think of us, or will think of us? How much of our energy and thought process is taken up with worrying over this dilemma? And what do you think would happen if we stopped worrying and spending valuable energy on being concerned about what others think? Freedom…is what would happen. Ultimately, what others think of us is not our business, it is theirs and belongs to them…not us. The only validation we should need comes from within, our Higher Self, and our God or Higher Power. The rest is all changeable and therefore should have no impact on who we truly are within. Give it a try one day. Just for that day, don’t be concerned with anyone elses opinion of you. And see what happens to your Self Esteem!

“Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live.”  ~ Nora Roberts

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

In this rushed and busy time we live in…not only have we forgotten to listen to and cultivate our intuition…but we forget that there is still Magic all around us. Some days it does not look or feel like it. But…if we take the time to look closely, and notice that someone smiled, or a flower blooms, or we close our eyes to listen to a song that takes us away for a moment…these are all Moments of Magic. And they are so important to the quality of our lives. Take a moment today…or several…and take a look around you, notice the Magic that happens around you. Focus there…and bring that shining moment of light into your life. String a few of those moments together…and you have changed your life for the better!

Thoughts For The Day Re~Post

“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of being.” ~ Goethe

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

I like this quote because it encourages us to think about how we treat people. Do we consider and judge them by their weaknesses and failures…and treat them based on that? Or do we consider them, with no judgment, by their strengths and successes, and treat them according to those? In today’s world, I see more people judging others with a negative eye…and would that I could herald this message of Goethe’s…to treat people as if they are already the dream they hold of themselves, and so, help them become that dream, what they are capable of being. It is what we would wish for ourselves, is it not? Something to ponder.

TH 2

“Your task is not to seek for love…but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ~ Rumi

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

It is not Love that is the culprit for being kept from us. It is the walls, barriers and dams that we build along the way that keeps it from reaching us. We think we are being wise by protecting our hearts…but Love is not meant to be harnessed and controlled. Love is meant to descend on us, rush on us like the wind, find the deepest chasm of our heart and invade it. It is a risk…but those stones that we build our walls with are cold bedfellows. Our task is to seek to remove the barriers…and Love, in its wisdom, will then find its way.

TH 3

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But, there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.” ~ Alan Cohen

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

We all want to feel safe, content and secure…to have our lives be a comfortable fit. And we are most comfortable with that which is familiar. This is why change can be difficult…to initiate or manage. Decisions are agony when we are faced with leaving our security for a new adventure. We would rather stay with what is familiar, even if it is no longer serving us, or good for us, or promoting growth. But as the quote says…if it is no longer meaningful…than its security has become false to us, and we are only fooling ourselves so we do not have to move. But…for each false security we are brave enough to let go of…another is created that is better for us. We must Trust ourselves to know that when we let go…there is something else to catch onto. We will always find a place to land.

“Adaptability: A wise man adapts himself to circumstances as water shapes itself to the vessel that contains it.” ~ W. R. Inge

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Everyday we are faced with Life Circumstances. Some are positive. Some are negative. Some we can change. Some we cannot. But the key to managing any and all circumstances…is Acceptance of them…and Adapting to their affect. To either embrace a circumstance, or to change one…the first step is to Accept it as a reality. It is happening. And then Adapt to it, as the water does to the vessel…Accepting its weight, girth and presence. It is then that we can see what measures to take. We must be fluid, like the water, and allow Wisdom to flow within our vessel, our soul, to aid us on our Journey.

“As you walk and eat and travel, be where you are. Otherwise you will miss most of your life.” ~ Buddha

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Be in the moment! Each and every moment is a gift to be treasured. If we spend too much time pining for or regretting the past, or worrying about the future, we will miss the greatness of this moment. Don’t look away…what if what you want is ready to happen now…and you are too busy looking backward or forward to see it? Don’t miss the magic of your life this moment has to give.

T 8

“Go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is.” ~ Jimmy Carter

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Take a chance. Take that chance you have been mulling over. That voice you hear full of fear and keeping you from doing it…that voice is a false voice. It only tells you to fear because it is afraid you will stop listening and it will cease to exist. As the quote says…if we never go out on the limb, take a chance, we will never know what fruit our actions would bear. Never knowing is far worse than trying and failing. Remember, the mighty and magical Oak begins as a tiny seed too.

Thoughts For The Day

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” ~ Jane Goodall

“The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of tiny pushes of each honest worker.” ~ Helen Keller

TH 2

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Every day, we labor in our efforts with family, in work, and on our spiritual paths. Sometimes, it feels like we move through these efforts on auto pilot, taking care of what we must, but not considering the affect it has around us because we are so busy “taking care of things”.

But…no matter who we are or what we “do”…we always have an impact on the world around us. We are all energy, and energy moves in waves, so those waves undulate and bump into each other and change the way the energy moves. Even when we think we are curled up in our own worlds and focusing there…we are always touching other worlds too.

TH 1

Our energy leaves an impression in the flow of energy that pulses around us…even when we do not think we have an effect. Or are not aware of it. If we integrate that little bit of consciousness on a daily basis, we can gain clarity which will help us be in the moment and consider what energy we are “putting out there”. And, we will become more aware of our inner thoughts and intentions, so that we can make better choices about what we think, how we act and react, and how we treat ourselves and others.

Because…every day…we make a difference in the world around us. What kind of difference do we want to make?

And make no mistake…all of those little pushes that we make every day to grow, help, and change the world around us count. It makes a difference. We are all heroes just for getting up in the morning and facing each new day with good intention and courage.

TH 4

Know you make a difference and move the world along, no matter how insignificant you feel. Your energy touches the world and contributes to its path. Be the hero that you are…and make that difference a good one.

Blessings!

Thoughts For The Day ~ Re-Post

TH 1“Every day, tell at least one person something you like, admire, or appreciate about them.” ~ Richard Carlson

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Especially yourself. It seems these days we have gotten into the habit of focusing on the negative long before we acknowledge any positive. Specifically in people. Just look at social media sites. Well…let’s change that pattern. Like the quote says…every day, say something nice to someone, or acknowledging, or compassionate…just for the sake of saying it, not for any ulterior motive. And we should begin by saying those things to ourselves in the mirror as soon as we wake. What a difference that would make to the day for everyone.

TH 2

“If you had a friend who talked to you like you sometimes talk to yourself, would you continue to hang around with that person? “ ~ Rob Bremer

from The Desk of MarDrag:

I found this quote after finding the one above…and it fits in well here. Self-talk is something we go through each day with, barely aware of what it is or what we really say to ourselves. If we paid more attention, something tells me we would be shocked. AND, if we listened as if it were someone else speaking to us…would we allow them to go on? Would we even be around them anymore? Would we be indignant or hurt? Take note of your self-talk. And if it is anything less than perfect love and perfect trust…see the first quote above and carry on!

TH 3

“Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible – it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could.” ~ Barbara de Angelis

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Do absolutely everything in the name of Love. Send every thought, feel every emotion, say every word, take every action…with Love. That is All.

Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“You are your own worst enemy. If you can learn to stop expecting impossible perfection, in yourself and others, you may find the happiness that has always eluded you.” ~ Lisa Kleypas

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

We are hard on ourselves. And so, hard on others too, when we expect Perfection. If we can accept that Perfection is an illusion constructed to hide imperfections, then perhaps we can allow the winds of change to blow away that illusion to reveal that…no one and nothing is ever Perfect. AND YET…we are all Perfect…just as we are. Because all that we have gone through has led us here to this moment, and at this moment, we have choices about where we go next and how we react to those choices. If we stop trying to Be Perfect…we will find Perfection in our Imperfectness. Be that Perfect Imperfect You.

TH 2

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” ~ Leo Buscaglia

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

We touch each other’s lives, every day, in ways that we are often unaware of. A smile here, a touch there…can help change a person’s day in remarkable and wonderful ways. There is such Power in Kindness. Be aware of that today…and be Kind. You never know how much that may touch someone and change their life. And…begin that Kindness…with yourself!

TH 3

“Today expect something good to happen to you no matter what occurred yesterday. Realize the past no longer holds you captive. It can only continue to hurt you if you hold on to it. Let the past go. A simply abundant world awaits.” ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Today is a new day…full of Possibility and Opportunity. It matters not what happened yesterday…let it go. For there are a plethora of chances for something else wonderful to happen today. Start the day believing something Magical is about to happen…and it will.

Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“Darkness is simply you being absent from being fully yourself.” ~ Dr. Eric Pearl

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

When darkness comes across our path, and we are lost and cannot see the Light, we look around us for the switch that will turn the Light back on and illuminate our way. But, it is not the Light outside us that is missing…it is the Light Within Us, our special, unique, bright Light that we need to look for and rekindle. For it is that Light…the Light we hold within us, that glows and shines upon our path to brighten our way. And our Inner Light shines the brightest when we are fully present, fully being ourselves…our True Self. Look for the Light within when faced with Darkness. It is the only Light that is always there for us and will show us the way out.

TH 2

“Stop beating yourself up. You are a work in progress; which means you get there a little at a time, not all at once.” ~ Author Unknown

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

How big can those paddles get? You know, the paddles we beat ourselves up with regularly. That can be quite large, heavy, and powerful. The paddles of judgment through which we tell ourselves we are not smart enough, attractive enough, successful enough…or “any” enough. And most importantly…we are not moving fast enough. But consider that…when walking any path, be it spiritual, life, or hiking…we only get along the path by…taking one step at a time. Putting one foot in front of the other to make progress. And no matter how we may hurry ourselves along…each step is still meant to be taken. So we must put those paddles down and stop criticizing ourselves for not being/doing enough, fast enough. We are not meant to “get there all at once”…for then, what would we have to live for? Savor each step…and let your path tell you the Time.

wrapped gift

“To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that’s all.” ~ Oscar Wilde

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Life is truly a gift. To be able to Live…to have Life, to make choices, to have dreams, to fulfill those dreams, to have challenges and overcome them…to Love, Laugh, and Cry. This is all the stuff of Life…and yet we would squander it all with Worry, Defeat, and Hate.

What does Life mean to you? What is Living to you?

Think about a parcel…left on your door step, wrapped in bright shining paper and bows, with a note on it saying…”This is your gift of Life, Live it well”.

What would be in that package when you open it?? Think about it…and Live THAT!

Thoughts For The Day

Thoughts Commit

“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred…unforeseen incidents, meetings, and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

Many times in life we are faced with decisions, different roads to take, and multiple choices to sift through. It can be confusing, and we can spend much time sorting through all the pro’s and con’s, weighing each detail, and delaying decisions. But, when we search our Source, ask the right questions and listen for the answers, and then make that decision…committing to it…then, as the quote says, everything around that decision starts to move and form, supporting what we have chosen. Things fall into place. Amazing things can happen…Magic can happen…when we commit to ourselves and the choices that we make. We must just make sure we are making those choices for our best. Be deeply honest with yourself.

Thoughts Stand up 2

“To live your life the way you choose, you have to be a bit rebellious. You have to be willing to stand up for yourself.”  ~ Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

Sometimes, we have to skate through difficulties or keep thoughts and words to ourselves in order to keep a certain peace, either at home or at work. That is part of life. Discernment. At times keeping silent is the right choice. But…when it is most important…that is, as we work to fashion the life we want to live, are meant to live…we must speak up for ourselves, stand up for ourselves, and be willing to do this even in the face of rebuff or a negative response.  Strive for believing in yourself even when no one else does. If you are sure of you…stand up for that person. Be your greatest champion!

Thoughts Slow Growth

“Be not afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still.”  ~ Chinese Proverb

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

Do not judge the swiftness or slowness of the current that your life path floats along. Some moments move quickly, and we gain much…some moments are slower for our benefit, so we can squeeze every drop of knowledge or wisdom out of that moment and not miss anything that we are meant to receive. Be it gifts, messages, or lessons. Go with the flow, whatever the pace of the current. And know you are Blessed, because you are moving.

Blessings!
