Now and Then or There

This quote spoke to me today as I have been having conversations about the current state of affairs, the uncertain future, and the need to stay centered through it all. So much easier said than done. But, let us consider the most basic nature of the quote…simply that only now, this moment, is real. What has passed has already happened and the future has not happened yet, so the Now is the only place to focus.

Here are my thoughts…Now is the one full of possibilities. Now is happening as we speak, so we can fill it, decide about it, moment to moment.

If we focus on those possibilities…not on what we perceive to be the inevitable future…then there is the opportunity for Change.

Even if we don’t “know” what all those possibilities are, they are still there, waiting to be sought and discovered. As long as there is hope and time, which we always have because we live in the Now, then there is the possibility for something different to occur.

We just need to be open to the thought that it can be different. Not leave our thoughts mired in that false inevitability.

* In the blink of Space between Now and the Inevitable or Future…Change can happen.

Perhaps we should turn our focus to that blink of space, rather than the past or future, and place all our hopes, needs, and desires there…where those possibilities for change live. What might happen then?

I don’t know…what do you think?

Blessings and Love!

Tuesday Affirmations ~ Perseverance

I have been a bit under the weather the last couple of days and did not get a new post written for today. But…it is Affirmation Tuesday, and I did not want to let you down…so I am posting something I wrote a while back that seemed good to bring back, especially with the energy changing this week. I hope you find something worthwhile in it.

It is “Affirmation Tuesday”, and I sit and shuffle my “Gifts of Affirmations” cards by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber, feeling the warmth of my hands infuse them as I fan them out before be on the desk. Waving my hand above them, I close my eyes and let my left hand drift and hover over them as it dips, and chooses the card for today, which is:

The Gift of Perseverance: “I Accomplish Anything I Put My Mind To”

Message: “Use this gift when you doubt your intelligence, your memory, or your ability to achieve your goals. Your situation is largely the result of how well you blend your logical and intuitive faculties to direct your actions. Several times a day, focus with relaxed concentration on the mental image of something you would like to see come into being.”

P 1

from the Desk of MarDrag:

The word “Accomplish” seems like a big word, does it not? It encompasses so many things, large and small. We move through our lives with the dialogue that we must accomplish many things….from as small as washing the dishes to as big as establishing careers or caring for family. The array and difficulty of the things we must accomplish can be overwhelming at times, and when we have trouble accomplishing all that we think we should, we can begin to doubt ourselves, our intelligence, and our abilities.  And then, we have a harder time “putting our mind to it”.

In the affirmation above, it talks about blending our logical and intuitive faculties to direct our actions and achieve our goals. I like this, because it indicates that we do not have to rely completely on only one ability that we have. Some people are more logical, some more intuitive…but we all have both faculties within us. The more we use them, the stronger they will become. And using them both at the same time would double our chances to accomplish what we put our mind to.

P 3Also, there are the obvious practical actions we must take to achieve something, but, as I speak a great deal about here on the blog, there is also the intuitive voice that guides us that we must listen to as well. It is, many times, our intuition that leads us to something we would not have thought of practically. In either area, we could look at a situation and say it can’t be done….but put those two faculties together, and we are unstoppable!

P 4

So, as the affirmation says, today, and several times a day, think of something you would like to see come into being. Every action begins with a thought! Create a mental image of it and hold it there as you go through your day. Your intuitive voice will tell you what actions to take to make it happen. Relaxed concentration allows you to go about your other obligations for the day while calmly holding this mental image until you are ready to put into action.

Ease into the idea of “Accomplishment”, using your logical and intuitive natures, persevere, and be amazed at what you can make happen!

Thoughts For The Day

Thoughts People

“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of being.”   ~ Goethe

MarDrags’ Thoughts:  I like this quote because it encourages us to think about how we treat people. Do we consider and judge them by their weaknesses and failures…and treat them based on that? Or do we consider them, with no judgment, by their strengths and successes, and treat them according to those? In today’s world, I see more people judging others with a negative eye…and would that I could herald this message of Goethe’s…to treat people as if they are already the dream they hold of themselves, and so, help them become that dream, what they are capable of being. It is what we would wish for ourselves, is it not? Something to ponder.

Thoughts Love

“Your task is not to seek for love…but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”  ~ Rumi

MarDrags’ Thoughts:  It is not Love that is the culprit for being kept from us. It is the walls, barriers and dams that we build along the way that keeps it from reaching us. We think we are being wise by protecting our hearts…but Love is not meant to be harnessed and controlled. Love is meant to descend on us, rush on us like the wind, find the deepest chasm of our heart and invade it. It is a risk…but those stones that we build our walls with are cold bedfellows. Our task is to seek to remove the barriers…and Love, in its wisdom, will then find its way.

Thoughts Blessings

“Everything that happens to us has a blessing built into it.”  ~Wayne W. Dyer

MarDrags’ Thoughts:  This is such a great thought…and one I live every day of my life…and try to share with others too. While it is difficult to find that spark or positive thread within the chaos and miasma of pain or difficulty in our lives…if we can remember that there is something for us to see, to learn, in everything that happens to us…then it gives purpose to even the hardest things we go through. It is not for naught, and makes us grow. Bless them, see the Blessing in them…and they take on an entirely different perspective.

Thoughts Security

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But, there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.”  ~ Alan Cohen

MarDrags’ Thoughts:  We all want to feel safe, content and secure…to have our lives be a comfortable fit. And we are most comfortable with that which is familiar. This is why change can be difficult…to initiate or manage. Decisions are agony when we are faced with leaving our security for a new adventure. We would rather stay with what is familiar, even if it is no longer serving us, or good for us, or promoting growth. But as the quote says…if it is no longer meaningful…than its security has become false to us, and we are only fooling ourselves so we do not have to move. But…for each false security we are brave enough to let go of…another is created that is better for us. We must Trust ourselves to know that when we let go…there is something else to catch onto. We will always find a place to land.
