Thoughts for The Day ~ Repost

“When we live with a solitude of the heart, we can listen with attention to the words and the worlds of others, but when we are driven by loneliness, we tend to select just those remarks and events that bring immediate satisfaction to our own craving needs.”   ~ Henri Nouwen

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

I have to admit, I kept passing this quote and then coming back again to ponder. It took me awhile to understand and why it attracted my attention so much, but also made me want to look away from it. Solitude and Loneliness can be difficult aspects of life to endure. But as I read this, the difference between Solitude and Loneliness emerged from the mists of the quote. For to be Lonely is to be missing something, to yearn for what is not there. To lament and feel sorry to be alone. But Solitude is the wanting, the desire to be alone, to spend time with oneself in quiet to listen to “life” and its messages. One is external…and one is internal. One we look outside ourselves for validation of and collect words, tunes, songs, sighs and whatever else that feeds it so we can revel in the evidence that proves we should close our hearts. But one…true Solitude…in this we are open and listening and pondering and being…able to quiet the mental chatter and chatter from others so that we can listen to the world and others…and truly hear.

“Remember the child you once were…filled with imagination and wonder? You felt you could do and be anything. That child is the essence of who you are. The wonder is still there inside. It is your limitless spiritual power.”   ~ James Van Praagh

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

It is my belief that one of the worse things that happens to us as we grow into adults…is that we lose that spontaneous wonder with which we looked at the world as a child. Before we were conditioned by that world around us. I also believe that that childlike wonder does not go away completely. It lurks, and shows itself when we fall in love, or play with our own children, or see something that gives us joy. So, if instinctively we know it is still there…what if we let it out? What if we did not take ourselves so seriously and had a little fun? Even if we know there are things of a serious nature around us, what if we looked at them with the wonder of a child who believes in the possibilities of hope and peace. A child does not know “not possible” for they do not yet know the limitations of the adult world. Let us let our inner child’s imagination out and see what we can create then!

“Your Light is seen, your heart is known, your soul is cherished by more people than you might imagine. If you knew how many others have been touched in wonderful ways by you, you would be shocked. You are far more wonderful that you think you are. Rest with that. Rest easy with that. Breathe again. You are doing fine. Better than fine. You are doing great. So relax. And Love yourself today.”  ~ Neale Donald Walsch

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

There is nothing to add to this quote but that…I posted it today for all of you…as a reminder of who you are and how Magnificent you are. Believe it in its most awesome Truth…and do Love yourself today.

I send Love and Blessings to all of you. May Love and Magic touch your life today. You deserve it!

A Matter of Resolution

In yesterday’s blog post, I talked about The Power of the Will and what it can do to drive our lives in the right direction. When we make a choice about our life, or a direction we want to go, or something we want to create…if we put The Power of Our Will behind it, to guide it and convey our determination to see it through to success…we are more likely to reach our goals or success.

But…what if we do this…and it still doesn’t turn out the way we thought, wanted, or hoped?

This subject came up in several conversations with multiple people this week, so I am compelled to write about it. Because sometimes, no matter how hard we try or how completely we direct our Will…things take a different turn and move another way. And we can get disappointed or discouraged, and begin to feel helpless.

BUT…(and there always is one!)…when that happens…can we say that, what did actually happen was not for the best…even if we are disappointed? Because sometimes…we do not always know what is best for us and/or “all” in a given situation. We have a perspective…from our position…but is it always right on the mark?

I say this because it came to me that, while we do and should pray for our wishes and dreams and direction to be fruitful…there is still the chance and idea that something even better is possible, but we had not looked far enough or known what could be possible.

So…as we put our Will behind our Prayers…perhaps another way to ask is…

“For the Best Possible Resolution for Myself and for All involved”.

Many times what we “want” is not what is best for us. So if we are struggling with trying to make something happen, or praying our hearts out, or pushing our Will to make it happen…it might, but to our detriment…or it doesn’t happen, and we question why, when we wanted it so much.

Back up into an observer position and ask ourselves what it is we “really” want. And then put The Power of Our Will into asking for Creation and Resolution to/of what we desire that will be the best for ourselves and all.

We can’t control everything, but we can have control over how we use The Power of Our Will for the Best Resolution. Remember… Directing the Will from our inner Wiser Self always guides us to the right course.

“Ugh” Is OK Too ~ Repost

I have been feeling low and drained this week…so I thought this would be a perfect post for Throwback Thursday. I posted this 3 years ago…but it certainly fits for this week too. If you are feeling it also…may these words help you today. Much Love and Blessings!

A lovely and cherished client asked me to write this blog the other day. We were talking about how most days it is part of our routine to begin the day with Spirit in our hearts and on our minds…and to say our daily prayers or rituals, or whatever name we give them, to draw positive and spiritual energy around us and make the day better because of it. I write a great deal about this here on the blog, and encourage us all to be aware of, and actively manage, our thoughts and actions in a positive direction. I believe that putting focus and attention on these topics every day helps to steer us away from negative thought and energy and retrains us to realize that we have command over what we think and feel…and that we always have a choice about how we direct those thoughts and feelings.

But then…there are…”THOSE” days.

The “UGH” days. The days that, no matter how hard we try to bring Spirit into the day, we fail. Or no matter how hard we try to redirect our thoughts, or let go of something that is bothering us, or release anger and hurt, or send Love into the world…it just does not happen. It just won’t happen. It just doesn’t work. And what’s more…we might not want it to. For that day…we just might want to feel cranky, or sad, or frustrated…and no matter what we read, or what someone tells us, or how hard we pray…”it” won’t leave us…and we revel in it and can’t draw ourselves out of it.

My client asked me…is that ok? Do I always have to bring it around to positive? Shouldn’t I try harder? Or can I have an “UGH” day?

I chuckled…and told her a story. For that very morning, I had an “UGH” moment myself. They do not come often anymore…but they come. And no matter how much I tried to do my Cleansing and Grounding exercise, or to Release what I was feeling and Balance my energy, or to Change my energy flow to Positive…nothing worked. It was not happening. And, it was not going to. Now, I have done this work for a long time, and with all that practice, it usually has tremendous impact on me and my day. I teach this to others as well. But that day…oh my…

So, I Surrendered to it. I gave up trying to make it anything other than what it was, and I allowed myself to Feel “It”. Really Feel it. Let it course through me and make itself known…to have its experience within me…so that it got what it needed, and then I was able to Release it…later. (After doing what we all do and putting it aside during work and obligations).

For that moment though…I closed my eyes and turned my face and my heart and soul to my Higher Powers and said that, perhaps I could not reach the level of Spirituality I normally do that day…but if I could just send out my prayer of Gratitude for all that I have, and ask for Guidance and Support just to get through the day…then would that be good enough. And the answer from above was…Yes, It Is Good Enough. Sometimes we just have to accept that things are the way they are, even if they are not the greatest. And that we can’t always change it at that moment…or be the stellar Spiritual Warrior we usually expect ourselves to be, and are. Some days, our “best” is just to get through it. Some days it is hard to have a positive attitude when you feel like you do not have one more ounce to give. But, just remember, there is always tomorrow.

So on those days when you just can’t pull it all together…know it is OK to be “UGH”. Know it is ok to be exactly where you are at and not to feel bad about it, or inadequate, or like you should be “doing it better” or “making it happen”. Some days…it just doesn’t happen. And…it is…OK.

Take the pressure off…and be who you are today. That IS enough!

Weekend Inspiration ~ Turn “It” Off!

There is no doubt things are happening, ramping up, and getting intense just about everywhere we look today. I do not believe there is any place on this planet right now not going through “change chaos”. And we are being bombarded through the media, etc…as well as our own minds and hearts becoming overwhelmed with a vast array of emotions. It can be exhausting and discouraging. That is why…I am making the suggestion for this “Weekend Inspiration” post to…

Take a break from it all and let go of the need to keep up with it. We are headed for a tough week. So, just for this weekend…

We need to give our minds and hearts a little down time…

And turn our Focus back onto ourselves, our own lives, our homes and loved ones and just let…

We need now, more than ever, to take care of ourselves, our hopes, our dreams, and our Inner Peace and Power…

Allow this weekend to be about YOU…as you “turn it off” out there…and turn it on within you…Do something from your everyday bucket list…or just concentrate on being peaceful and creating joy in your house, heart, and family…

Turn the negative noise away with the decision to…

Let Yourself have this time to replenish your Mind, Heart, Soul, and Body…we are going to need it!

And remember that the most important thing to know this weekend is…

For Your Monday

My wish is for you to start today knowing and feeling this and take it into your week to make it a great one. Blessings and Love To All!

A Focus To Help in The New Year

We have ushered in the New Year…now we need to find ways to navigate and manage the uncertainty, confusion, and apprehension that 2016 left behind. As expected, the New Year began with a great deal of negativity and terrible happenings. And no matter where you stand on world or political matters, it will be a bumpy ride through the next few weeks and beyond. So…what can we do to keep from feeling hopeless, despondent, or uncertain about our own lives and future?

I have a suggestion…and I hope it helps. My daughter and I have done this and work it every day. It makes a difference that keeps growing into wonderful things day by day. So, here it is…

We have all heard of and probably have written a “Bucket List”. That list of things we have always wanted to do, like sky diving or mountain climbing or traveling…that we put on the list to remind us to take a risk and do cool and crazy stuff before we die.

But…what about while we are living…day to day?

How about a “Daily Bucket List”? On this list are smaller, easier goals or things we want to do that are much more attainable in the moment…but that we forget to do when we are overwhelmed and buried in the muck of life. My daughter and I sat down and wrote a list of 5 things we really need to do for ourselves or we really want to do but haven’t made time or effort to accomplish.

One of my top 3 is to meditate more. When I keep up with my spiritual work I am better.  And for me, meditation is so important to keeping me balanced and to keep my boundaries set so I am not bothered and overwhelmed by all the “junk” floating around. It helps to keep my mind and heart clear. Another thing on my “Daily Bucket List” is to make time to visit a place I have wanted to for a long time, but never take the time. It is on my “Daily Bucket List” now, and begs to be crossed off.

This “Daily Bucket List” is posted on the wall in my living room so I/we see it every day. It reminds me to focus on my own life and what I need/want to do to make myself happy, fulfilled, and feeling accomplished. Anything can go on this list…little things like cleaning out a drawer or taking a walk or reading a book you have wanted to get to. But things like…say something to make someone smile, or spend more time with a child, or give back to the community in some way…can also go on the list. Save the big things like write that book, or go to Italy, or zipline for the “Big Bucket List”.

The everyday list is attainable, soul warming, heart filling things to do for yourself or another. And I can tell you…it feels darn good to cross one of those off and add another. Or, for some things, I put a check mark for the day and do it again the next day and check it off again. This really does let us feel that we are focusing on our own life and making it better…one little step at a time…one day at a time. And as you do it, it gains momentum and good feelings emerge and grow day to day as you feel better about yourself and your life.

It is now…more than ever…so important that we not stop living the life we want and deserve because of the negativity “out there”. Yes…we have to deal with it and will no doubt have to make some adjustments to navigate any changes coming…but that is for “out there”.

“In here”…in our Hearts, Souls, Minds, and Lives…WE still have control over how we live, think, feel, and do. We must never forget this, and in fact, we need now to Focus even more on being our True and Authentic Self and living accordingly and shining our beautiful, healing Light into the world. In order to do that…we need to be taking care of ourselves and our Spirit.

So give the list a try…and keep that Focus on your Life and Happiness and Light. Share it and Shine it and keep yourself fulfilled so that your Light will Grow and Shine and make a difference in the darkness.

Take care of yourselves…Love and Be Loved, Be Happy, Hope…and Shine!

A Message for the New Year

Well, here we are, on the brink of closing one year and welcoming a new one. This year, 2016, has been a full year to say the least, a tumultuous one, full of a great many ups and downs. We end 2016 in a bit of confusion and uncertainty. What do we put behind us and let go of? What should we anticipate, look forward to, expect…in the New Year and 2017?

I had been pondering this…and then I heard a song from many years ago by the folk singer Cat Stevens, from such a different time and culture so long past. But the words struck me…hard…as the perfect message to go forward into a New Year…a year that we are all wondering how to feel about.

The song is titled: “If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out”, Cat Stevens 1972

I recommend listening to it, it has a great melody…but it is the words that will keep you going through the transition into the New Year and beyond it. Because, I want to suggest that we not allow the circumstances we may be facing to keep us from living our own personal authentic lives as we wish…in Happiness, Love, Compassion, and Unity. It can be easy to let the energy and negativity envelop us and lead us to feelings of hopelessness or defeat or thinking that it has to affect us. But it doesn’t…if we don’t allow it.

Here is the first stanza of the song…

“Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
‘Cause there’s a million things to be
You know that there are”    Cat Stevens, 1972

So…what if we believe this…and do it? What if we choose to be Free…of anything that isn’t what we want in our own personal space? This isn’t to say we don’t deal with what is going on. It just means we do not allow it to pierce the circle of Love, Happiness, Peace, and Light that we draw around us and our loved ones. Don’t let the negativity get under your skin and win by entering and disturbing your life. YOU have a right to have the life and energy around you that you want, not what is dictated by circumstances that, for now, cannot be changed.

“Well, if you want to say yes, say yes
And if you want to say no, say no
‘Cause there’s a million ways to go
You know that there are”

“And if you want to be me, be me
And if you want to be you, be you
‘Cause there’s a million things to do
You know that there are”    Cat Stevens, 1972

So if you want to Be Free…

Through The Tunnel

We have all heard the expression that “there is always a light at the end of the tunnel”. But it is sometimes difficult to remember that when we are at the beginning or middle of a tunnel.

It is dark and dank in there. It is uncomfortable…and there is a wall around everything we are used to seeing in our lives. The tunnel blocks our vision and looks impenetrable.

But remember this…as we move through the tunnel and leave the light at the entrance…we wade into the center of the issue (tunnel)…we lose a bit of light and direction…and it actually gets darker…and the darkest in that tunnel…

…Right before you get to the light at the end.

If it looks to be the darkest you have seen…know that the Light, then, is just ahead!

And then…Rejoice!

Monday Message~Dolphin~Breath of Life~Repost

As I sat this morning and meditated on this week’s message, I had the urge to seek one from the animal kingdom. So I took to my “Animal Medicine Cards” and book, “The Discovery of Power Through The Ways of Animals” by Jamie Sams and David Carson and asked what they would tell my readers this morning. The card I pulled was the Dolphin. Here is what it had to say:

Dolphin: “Breathe, Take In Life Force, Accept The Gift of Usable Energy, Touch The Invisible”

Message (paraphrased): “Dolphin speaks to us of the breath of life, the only thing that humans can not go without for more than a few minutes. We can live without water and food for days, but oxygen is the source of our sustenance. Within the breath we encounter the rhythm of energy that all life emits. In changing the rate or rhythmic texture of our breath, we find an easy way to connect with Divine energy as well as with our own personal rhythms.

Dolphin is the keeper of the sacred breath of life, and teaches us how to release emotions through breath. Dolphin creates rhythm, swimming through the water and breathing before submerging, then holding its breath for the duration of underwater travel. As Dolphin comes above water again, it blows its breath out in a manner resembling the popping of a cork. We can use this same technique to pull the stopper on our tensions and create total relaxation.

Dolphin teaches us how to use life force through our breath. It revitalizes each cell and organ, and breaks limits and dimensions of physical reality so that we can enter “soul time”. Dolphin knows that all communication is pattern and rhythm and became a carrier of messages. And that breath is the communication with the rhythms of nature.

Be mindful of your body rhythms and patterns of energy.  Breathe and know that you are whole.”

from The Desk of MarDrag:

As Dolphin says, breath is the sustenance of our lives, and of nature. By becoming aware of the rhythm of our breath, we can tap into our own personal rhythms and change or adjust them. We can also release tension and emotions that have built up because of stress or worry.

By consciously paying attention to our breath, we can help our minds and bodies to release and relax. Haven’t we all been told when we are upset to “just breathe” in order to calm down or relax? And it works. But we do not have to wait until we are upset to use that technique.

As the message indicates…sometimes we feel we are “just trying to keep our heads above water”…and that if we submerge, we will be overwhelmed. But Dolphin shows us that we can survive those times of traveling underwater…and emerge again, able to release the tension and stress that difficult times create. And we can release it all, through our breath. It is the Life Force that sustains us, that connects us to our inner life force and feeds our cells the precious oxygen they need to flourish and thrive. When we breathe deep, we are nurturing our mind, body and spirit…in one breath.

Deep breathing can also take us through those moments when we would react to life’s difficulties in a negative way. It can help us take that pause we need before we react, and it can infuse us with clarity and calm so that we can have that moment to assess the situation before reacting.

Breath is the elixir of Life. So feed your soul and take a few moments each day to close your eyes, breathe deeply…take the breath all the way down past your chest and into your belly, your core. Hold it for a few seconds, then let it go, like the pop of a Dolphin breath, and release your tension. See it flowing out of you as you exhale. Do this several times and feel your body and mind relax as well as promoting the blood flow through your cells. There is also the element of connecting to Divine Energy with prolonged deeper breathing.

So, no matter how, when, where or why you do it…take those few minutes daily to breathe life into your mind, body, and soul and tap into the rhythms of your unique being. Feel that deeper connection to Self as your breath flows through you. And be as the Dolphin…go with the flow.

With Power…Still

I, like everyone, go through moments of insecurity, doubt, fear, and feelings of unworthiness. It is human to go through these emotions…and completely natural and normal. Even if we work on ourselves, build self-esteem and confidence, and see ourselves as successes…we still go through these moments of insecurity and questioning our abilities and self-worth sometimes. It is part of our structure, and always will be. It is what we do with these feelings and how we choose to live that makes the difference.

But…something else came to me in a meditation the other day to add to this.

Before this meditation, I was having one of those days of insecurity and doubt. I sat down for a meditation to explore it and move myself out of that cloud. And an interesting message came from my guides. Everyone (and me) probably already knows and accepts this…but it came as a new thought to me for some reason, and I heard it anew. I was feeling low, and low energy, and apologizing for not “being myself” and operating at optimum power and strength. I felt sorry that my energy level was not at its brightest, even in meditation. And then…a lovely message spread through me…and the light bulb went on. This was the message…

That, no matter how we feel “in our heads”…that is, no matter how low, insecure, or defeated we can feel at times…under those emotions…we are still the Person and Soul we always are…this does not change. It is only our negative issues and feelings that take over our minds…but in our heart and soul…we are still the Powerful Spirit we have grown into, that does not change just because we feel insecure.

Our lovely minds can go so many places with fear and anxiety…and try to convince us we are not who we really are. But that is just the mind. It sends us in circles up there…but down in the depths of our heart, soul, and character…those things do not change just because we think or feel insecure. We are still the Powerful Being we have always been.

For me, it helped realizing that…even if my Power felt low, or I had a moment of insecurity or doubt, that it did not mean I had lost all my gifts. Unless, of course, I BELIEVE my own insecure voice.

Of course, having those feelings over time can chip away at our heart and soul, and we can lose a sense of our true selves…BUT, even then, it still does not change the fact that we are who we are and we have our own Power, Strength, and Purpose built in to our Being, our unique Self.

So, for those moments, or days, when we feel insecure, low, defeated, or unworthy…go ahead and feel it, process it, and move it out. BUT…remember all the while that…no matter what our feelings or troubles are…our Core Self which holds our Power, Strength, and Purpose, and Gifts is still there, living inside us, supporting us, and waiting for us to process through these human emotions and get back to being who we really are…our True Self…which is the real success.

So actually…we‘ve got this kids! We basically have our own backs. We have the best support we could ask for. While we ruminate in insecurity, our True Powerful Self sits patiently waiting for us to process…and is there, exactly where we left them when we went on our tangent…and nothing is diminished. Truth cannot be destroyed…it just is. So, the True Self will always prevail.

Lends a bit of comfort to these old bones.
