Inspiration for a Thursday~Repost

I found this list called “7 Lovely Logics” and just love what they say. I do not know who wrote them or put them together, the author is listed as “Author Unknown”, but I wanted to share them with you, as there is great wisdom in each one. There is so much going on in our world right now, so I hope these will bring you some inspiration to face these days to come. (FYI – the numbered statements are by the author, the comments under them are written and added by me.)  Blessings!

“7 Lovely Logics”

  1. Make peace with your past so it doesn’t spoil your present.

The present is called the present because it is a gift. If we are always focused on the past, we cannot see the blessings of today. The past belongs in the past, make peace with it and let it go. It can only affect our present if we allow it to by bringing it into the now. Actually, the past wants to be left alone. It knows where it belongs.

  1. What others think of you is none of your business.

Let people have their opinions, thoughts and judgments about you without needing to control or “fix” them. It simply does not matter. What does matter is what you think of yourself and the integrity with which you view yourself. The rest is not your business to deal with.

  1. Time heals almost anything. Give time some time.

We have all heard this one before, but in this time of instant gratification, we expect everything to happen “now” including healing of our hearts and souls. Sometimes, things just take time, and we need to have the patience to allow healing to happen in the time that it needs. That will also allow us to recognize the progress as it happens so we can acknowledge it learn from it. We must not go from A to Z and miss all the steps in between. If we do, we will just have to repeat the lesson/healing until we allow ourselves to see the entire process and learn the lesson it was supposed to teach.

  1. No one is the reason for your happiness – except yourself.

No one else can make us happy. They can add to our happiness, but true happiness comes from deep within us and stems from how comfortable we are with our chosen way of life.

  1. Don’t compare your life with others, you have no idea what their journey is about.

We are each individuals with our own lives, challenges and roads to walk. Each life is unique, and like no other. We cannot ever truly know what is in another’s heart or soul, nor can they know ours. We never know exactly what someone is going through, just what they show us. So don’t compare your life with anothe’rs…you are unique. Focus on you!

  1. Stop thinking too much. It’s alright not to know all the answers.

This is a really good one, because we expect ourselves to be brilliant and know all the answers all the time. The simple truth is, we don’t. And that is ok. Lighten up on yourself. And remember, you may not know everything, but you are a genius at what you do know.

  1. Smile – you don’t own all the problems in the world.

We tend to think that when things go wrong, we are somehow responsible for it, no matter what it is. And we want to fix it. At the very least, we chastise ourselves for things that we cannot possibly be the cause of, or for not knowing how to solve things. So smile, and know that you are only responsible for what happens in your immediate space. Let the rest take care of itself. If you can contribute to a solution, then absolutely do so, but don’t carry it all on your shoulders.

The Life of A Problem ~ Repost

I have a bit of “stuff” going on, you know, life’s little (and big) problems that come our way to test our strength and patience. At my age, I have been through my share…and I say this because…after all these years, I should be a pro at it right? Well, maybe not a pro, but I have come to a few conclusions about problems. I wrote about it years ago, and now, it becomes relevant again. I share it with you as I remind myself of the message…Blessings!

“Happiness is not the absence of problems, it’s the ability to deal with them.”  ~ Steve Maraboli

“The best way out is always through.”  ~ Robert Frost

“Every problem is a gift – without problems we would not grow.”  ~ Anthony Robbins

“Every solution to every problem is simple. It’s the distance between the two where the mystery lies.”  ~ Derek Landy

***“The universe is so well balanced that the mere fact that you have a problem also serves as a sign that there is a solution.”  ~ Steve Maraboli

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Problems…we all have them. Life is wrought with them. There is no escape from them. And, sometimes, just when we think we are free of them, another one (or many) crop up to remind us that life is about growth. And as Tony Robbins says above, without problems, we would not grow. If everything was always “all right” and we never had any adversity in our lives, we could not stretch our minds, hearts and souls to see what we are capable of or to hone our life skills.

But, sometimes the problems life brings us are overwhelming, and it is often easy to get buried in them. We are busy in our lives, and when problems arise, it takes energy and thought to work them out and find resolutions. Or so we have been taught. We spend a great deal of thought, energy and worry on problems; thinking about them picking them apart, judging them, trying to come up with solutions, or simply worrying about them and feeling anxiety because we don’t have a solution. By the time we spend all of this effort on a problem, we are exhausted and often discouraged or depressed and feel stuck, or that there is no way out. We spend all this time, effort and energy focusing on the problem…keeping it alive…and very possibly blocking the arrival of the solution.

So, consider this…You can not solve a problem at the level of the problem. You have to rise above it to see the other levels around it. If we stay parallel to the problem, then our focus is aimed only at the issue and the clarity surrounding it stays fuzzy and unreadable.

The trick is to take our focus and direct our attention to attaining that clarity. To focus on the clearing…not the solving. There is always another way to look at a problem, another view, even when our conscious mind says there is not, or can’t see it. We sometimes need to look with our heart and soul, not always with our mind and eyes. God, Spirit, the Higher Powers all already know the solution. If we can stay clear, and step out of the way, then we can receive those answers and Divine thought can reach us.

My favorite quote above is the last one by Steve Maraboli…that the fact there is a problem in the first place gives us proof that there is a solution to it. For, by Law of Polarity in the universe (two sides to everything), there is no problem that does not have a corresponding solution.

Don’t give Life to the problem…make your Life and its Power to overcome bigger than the problem.

Since everyone is different, each must find their own way to “rise above” a problem and seek clarity. But, I do have a little daily mantra that has helped me to change my focus that I will share with you, and perhaps it can help you too. Or, write your own, or search for something you can say to yourself that will change your focus when you find yourself immersed too deeply in a problem and are unable to clear your mind and step away from it to allow the solution to flow to you. Here is that mantra:

Just for today, I release myself from anger and fear

Just for today, I release myself from worry

I give thanks for my many Blessings

I live well, and cultivate my true life with grace and joy

Blessed are my family, friends and teachers

I rise above  (I have had this many years and do not recall where I read it or its author)

If you are facing a problem (as we all are), use this mantra to help clear your mind. Or find what will work for you, and see yourself stepping out of the way of the problem so that its ever present and corresponding solution can make itself known…and you will have the clarity to see it. And you will know the Balance of life in its true form.

Thoughts For The Day

Thoughts 1

“The cyclone drives its power from a calm center. So does a person.”  ~ Norman Vincent Peale

from The Desk of MarDrag:

You have heard the phrase “calm in the eye of the storm.” Similar to the quote above. And if we think about it, and look at the picture, we see it to be true. While a storm whirls and twirls, at the very center is the calm power that drives it. If we can adopt that concept to our lives, we can weather anything. So, rather than get caught up in the fury of the storm around us, we seek to be the calm power at the center of it so that we can determine the destination, or at the very least, stay balanced and centered as it rages around us and we wait it out. Some storms cannot be avoided. Stay calm.

Thoughts 2“Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams!  ~ Angel Whispers

from The Desk of MarDrag:

It is a part of life to be driven by our problems. They take our energy, we worry about them, and often they are the things that we focus on through out the day. And like the quote says, our problems push us along in life. But consider that, we will always have some kind of problem at hand to solve, that is part of life, but would we make it the focus of our lives. What if, instead of allowing our problems to push us around like bullies, we put them into perspective…and allowed our passions and dreams to lead us to the life we want to live. Problems get solved…they always do. Live your dreams!

Thoughts 3“Inner peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.”  ~ Author Unknown

from The Desk of MarDrag:

And so, like the other quote above, we see that WE have the choice whether to allow something to take over our lives…or whether we take our power back from the problem or person and place it where it will do the most good for us…which is working toward peace and calm within. Because from that Inner Peace comes all that we are looking for to manage our lives. Inner Peace is the key that unlocks the ideas, solutions, and love held within us…which leads us to a better life. Let us make Peace the focus.

Tuesday Affirmations ~ Faith In The Future

Good Tuesday Morning! I have not done a Tuesday Affirmation for a couple of weeks, so today I felt the call to seek my “Gifts of Affirmations” cards by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber and see what message they have for us today. As always, the card I pulled speaks to us as we navigate through this awkward and difficult time. The card I pulled was…

Gift of The New:   “I Have Faith In The Future I Cannot See”

Message: “ Use this gift when you are worried or anxious. These feelings are usually caused by our attachment to either a particular outcome or to wanting to know exactly how things are going to turn out. We have the power to change our future. How many of our past worries never came to pass?”

Faith 3

from The Desk of MarDrag:

With all that is going on in our lives and the world right now, it is hard not to worry and have anxiety. But consider that…so much of that worry is anticipation about what might happen and how we will be able to handle it. We can spin many tales in our minds and hearts about the “worst case scenario”, and then hold on to it, creating deep anxiety and stress. And sometimes, that energy helps to create what we are most afraid of, because that is what is foremost in our minds.

So, consider the act of staying in the moment and not projecting into the future. In this very moment, are you ok? Is what you are worrying about still just a thought, or has it happened? Is there still a chance a solution can be found? Have you worried in the past about something that never happened?

Faith 4

There is a saying: For every problem there is an equal solution. A problem cannot exist without its counterpart, the solution, or then it would not be a problem. Believe that. Every problem absolutely has an equal solution.

Now, focus on the belief in the solution, instead of just focusing on the problem, and the channels open up so the solution can flow through. That is where the Power is. And in doing this, we eliminate all those moments, hours and days of anxiety and we retain some quality of life as we go through the difficulty.

Faith 1

Just because we can’t see a solution in the moment…does not mean it is not there. And just because we have a problem(s) does not mean we have to allow it to color every area of our life and feel bad about ourselves or lose our daily dose of joy or peace. Do not give the problem that much Power. Keep your Power for the solution.

Have Faith that the future you cannot see contains what you need and desire…and that energy will help to create those things rather than building on the problem. Have Faith that, just as you have done before, you will pass through your difficulty and thrive.

Faith 2

Thoughts For The Day

Thoughts Plane

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” ~ Henry Ford

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

Sometimes it feels like the world is working against us, but we have the power to fly into it, face it, rise above it…and soar. Face the wind…and listen.

Thoughts Discouragement

“Discouragement is a negative emotion with more than one trick up its dark sleeve. It tricks you into mentally or emotionally dwelling in the very place you want to leave. Drop all such sorrow permanently by daring to see through this deception of the unconscious mind. You have a destination far beyond where you find yourself standing today”  ~ Guy Finley

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

Remember, there is a bigger picture than just the snapshot you are looking at today. This day and its difficulties do not define you as a whole person, or the whole of your life. Tomorrow, you will wake and have another chance to do it differently or make another choice. Trick the trickster of the deception Guy Finley speaks of and see through it, thereby taking all the power away from that negative emotion. Seek to have the courage to step out of discouragement, who only wants us to stay there because, on it’s own, it has no power.

Thoughts Cosmic

“We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.”  ~ Paul Coelho

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

Sometimes, when I am in a deep reflective mood, I think about the vastness of the universe, all the stars, planets, and living things that inhabit our world. I think about the expanse of time…how it has gone on and will go on eternally. I think about all those people who have gone before us…and those that will come after us. And the hugeness of all of that puts any problems or discomforts I have into perspective. What becomes most important is what the quote says above…”we stop for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, love, and share.” That is, indeed, the most precious moment of our existence. Everything else just falls away, will change or evolve. Make those precious moments count!

Tuesday Affirmations ~ Challenges

We are well into another week…but it is a holiday week, so a short one for many people. I hope it is a good week for all! And here we are, ready for another post on “Tuesday Affirmations”. Today, the card I pulled from my deck “The Gifts of Affirmations” by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber is:

The Gift of Courage ~ “I Invent Creative Solutions To The Challenges In My Life”

Message: “Use this gift when you are confronted with a situation that seems impossible to deal with. Sometimes it is better to study a problem until you understand it well and then put it out of your mind for a while. Many scientists and mathematicians have reported that their inventions and creative solutions came to them in a dream or in the reverie of a daydream.”

Challenges 1

from the Desk of MarDrag:

Courage is a powerful gift, but sometimes a difficult one to cultivate. It takes courage to face down problems and obstacles in life, and to find solutions to situations we must take on that are uncomfortable or painful. And with our instincts usually pushing us to find a solution quickly, sometimes we can act hastily, not thinking things through, and make the wrong choice or take the wrong direction altogether. Sometimes, we do not have the courage to stay our hand, pause, and make the decision in our own time and in the best way possible. Life is in a hurry these days, but sometimes we ourselves should not be.

I like the affirmation card for its message to slow down and study the problems of our lives. Only in doing that will we have a good understanding of all the implications and possible solutions available. I know…we say life is moving quickly and we need to keep up. But…are we moving at the pace of life…or should our life be moving at our pace? After all, it is our life and we are in control of it, or should be. We should not be letting life have control of us.

I believe that it is true that, when faced with a problem, if we spend all our time obsessing over it and wracking our brains for a solution, we find it difficult to find one because all our energy and mind functions are focused on the problem itself. We run it over and over, on a loop, and then add anxiety, fear, dread, anger, and frustration on top of it…and at that point, we have no more space in our minds, hearts or emotions to welcome in the answer. The space is full…of things that will not help us.

So, as the affirmation says…what if we take a productive turn in our problem solving technique? Spend the energy on understanding and clarifying the problem. Write it down if necessary. Make a pro and con list, and add a list of possible solutions, even if they sound unlikely. Writing it down helps to get all those thoughts out of our head and put down in the physical. Because the next step, is to let it go and forget about it for a while. This helps in two ways…first, to let our mind have a break and clear out the energy, and second, to open the space and allow the correct solution to come forward. Or to come to us in a dream or half-sleep state…which is actually a great time as the sub-conscious has the time to speak at those moments while the conscious mind drowses.

Letting Go 4

I know some of you can think of a time when you have said, “the answer just came to me”. And, after all your worry, it seemed effortless. Well, the more you work at retraining your problem solving habits, the easier it gets, and the less effort you will spend on them.

Letting go of something important can be hard. But this method really does work. I can say that from experience. I used to be the best top notch worrier of all time. But all that worry got me nowhere but wishing for a padded cell. LOL! When I stopped using all my energy up with worry, and started actively focusing it toward constructive thought, and then letting go, things changed and difficulties seemed not so overwhelming anymore. I realized I could handle them and there was always an answer, even when I could not see it right away.

There is a saying that, “there is no problem that does not have a solution, otherwise it is not a problem”.

Challenges 2

If we remember that for every problem there is truly a solution, and understand and let go enough to allow that solution to present itself, then we are truly the creative problem solving beings we are meant to be and we have conquered the Challenge.

Chains Of Our Own Making 2

I had a message from a reader the other day who asked me to post this blog from last year and to expound on the message within. So, I pulled this from the archives and added a bit more to the paragraphs under the poem. It is my express wish that the reader, and all of you, find something worthwhile and helpful in these words. Blessings!

I was going through some notebooks and old writings yesterday, looking for something,  and I came upon one of my own books of poetry, many pages written through out the years. I began leafing through it and came across a poem that had always been a favorite, because it was so raw and intimate, yet every person, every being, can relate to its sentiment. I rarely share my poetry, but you are all so special to me, and I already share my deepest thoughts with you, so I decided to print this one in the blog today. I hope you don’t mind!

It speaks to the thoughts and actions that we wrap around ourselves, that we cannot, for some reason, see they hinder or hurt us, or keep us from moving forward. often, the chains that bind us are the ones of our own making:

Oh dear

Dear self

What chains have I wrapped ’round thee

Bound thee from thy freedom

Holding thee

Lamenting thy true nature

As I stutter and stumble

For the causing of those chains

In rapt attention to their lot

In feverish passion to unravel their mystery

Near forgetting the freedom

Kept within

Haplessly leaving thee bound

from the Desk of MarDrag:

When we become so enamored with the problems, stress and discontent that is in our lives, we can become consumed, with the fury of a focus that is directed on those problems. And within the intensity of that focus, those things become like chains that we wrap around us, holding us tense and rigid. And so, we become enamored with the chains themselves, frantically trying to figure out what they are and why they are there, how to unlock them or lamenting their presence. We cannot tear ourselves away from the chains. And while we fixate on those chains, we forget that within them is where our freedom is held. We forget or are unaware that we are the architect of those chains, the steel worker that forged the links that now keep us held tight and unable to move, or even think clearly. And we may ignore the fact that, at some point, we allowed them to wrap around and hinder us.

But, at any given moment, we have the power to choose to discard them and free ourselves from that which WE have decided we are bound by. We made them, or we allowed them…so we can unlock them. We have the key. We always have another choice…no matter how out of our realm of comfort it may seem…we nevertheless always have the freedom to make another choice.

So, take a look at the chains tethered around you today and ponder at the choice that you might make to discard them. Choices are always abundant. Moving to Hawaii or some exotic place is a choice. You may not make that choice, but it is, nevertheless, an option that is there, as are so many other options available. We may have trapped ourselves within those chains, but outside them and around us, still, is a swirling haze of opportunities, choices, and solutions…if we could look outside just one link…and catch a glimpse. That is all it takes…one glance through one small link…and it can change our entire perspective. Once our sight and focus sways from the chains themselves, then we have a chance to see what we are bound by with a wider clarity, and we can melt those chains away.

Sometimes, we do have to step out of our comfort zone in order to step out of the chains. But we gain that comfort back when we choose to free ourselves. For that is our true nature…a free soul.

The Making of Decisions

“Crying is all right in its own way while it lasts. But you have to stop sooner or later, and then you still have to decide what to do.”  ~ C.S. Lewis

“I must have a prodigious amount of mind; it takes me as much as a week, sometimes, to make it up!”  ~ Mark Twain

“Waiting hurts. Forgetting hurts. But not knowing which decision to take can sometimes be the most painful.”  ~ Jose N. Harris

“The problem, simply put, is that we cannot choose everything simultaneously. So we live in danger of becoming paralyzed by indecision, terrified that every choice might be the wrong choice.”  ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

“You can’t make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen.”  ~ Michelle Obama

“Whatever you decide, don’t let it be because you don’t think you have a choice.”  ~ Hannah Harrington

“Truly successful decision-making relies on a balance between deliberate and instinctive thinking.”  ~ Malcolm Gladwell

“At various points in our lives, or on a quest, and for reasons that often remain obscure, we are driven to make decisions which prove with hindsight to be loaded with meaning.”  ~ Swami Satchidananda

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Being true to this week’s theme of Problems and Decisions, today’s post touches ever deeper about those most important choices we make. We are faced with the dilemma of Decisions every day…from small ones such as what to eat for breakfast, to those earth shattering life altering ones like career moves, family dynamics and what spiritual steps to take in our lives. Some Decisions we make spontaneously, and some we pour a great deal of thought and consideration into, hoping that we are making correct Decisions that are best for our lives. And sometimes…there are those Decisions that fall flat, and are not the right ones.

But, we cannot hold on to those. We must learn from them, and consider the true reasons why we made them, and then let them go as we keep and integrate the knowledge we gained from them so we do not make the same mis-take again.

And then there is the dilemma of avoiding making a Decision at all, which brings its own brand of difficulty with it.

Decisions 3

The thing is…we have been making Decisions since we first started to notice our surroundings and conditions after birth. Back then, our decisions were made about immediate circumstances and there was an innocence about those Decisions. We saw and felt things, and made choices based on the truth of what we saw and felt. As we grew older, influences from so many other areas started to reach us, and we started to question our Decisions. As an adult, we may have learned through all of that not to trust our inner Decision-making voice.

If we could go back to that innocence…that trust of our initial feelings and perceptions…then I think we can make Decisions that are based in truth and therefore, the best Decisions for us. We need to consider all aspects of a situation to make a good Decision, but we can also take too much consideration and talk ourselves right out of a proper or timely Decision, or frighten ourselves into making no Decision at all.

Decisions 2

So, consider what it would mean if we reflected on that innocence and made Decisions from the wide-eyed clarity that it brings. If we peel back all the layers of “stuff” and judgments and fears we have accumulated over the years, and looked at every problem with that uncomplicated innocence and absolute truth, then we would be far more apt to make the best choices from the clearest place. Innocence is simplicity, purity, and honesty…and the Decisions we are to make about our lives deserve to be considered in those terms…for it is our Wiser Voice who wants the best for us. And it is we and our Conscious Minds that resist and justify.

Decisions 4

FEEL your truth, feel the simplicity of the truth of the matter…and your Decisions will flow with ease…purely and honestly.
