Now and Then or There

This quote spoke to me today as I have been having conversations about the current state of affairs, the uncertain future, and the need to stay centered through it all. So much easier said than done. But, let us consider the most basic nature of the quote…simply that only now, this moment, is real. What has passed has already happened and the future has not happened yet, so the Now is the only place to focus.

Here are my thoughts…Now is the one full of possibilities. Now is happening as we speak, so we can fill it, decide about it, moment to moment.

If we focus on those possibilities…not on what we perceive to be the inevitable future…then there is the opportunity for Change.

Even if we don’t “know” what all those possibilities are, they are still there, waiting to be sought and discovered. As long as there is hope and time, which we always have because we live in the Now, then there is the possibility for something different to occur.

We just need to be open to the thought that it can be different. Not leave our thoughts mired in that false inevitability.

* In the blink of Space between Now and the Inevitable or Future…Change can happen.

Perhaps we should turn our focus to that blink of space, rather than the past or future, and place all our hopes, needs, and desires there…where those possibilities for change live. What might happen then?

I don’t know…what do you think?

Blessings and Love!

Monday Message ~ Take Action

Good Monday Morning! We begin another week and our march full on into Spring. It was such a beautiful weekend that the animal kingdom called to me this morning for our message of wisdom to start our week. As I shuffle through the cards, one falls from the deck, and I turn to my book “Medicine Cards, The Discovery of Power Through The Ways of Animals” by Jamie Sams and David Carson. The animal who presented itself to share its wisdom with us today is:

Action 5

Antelope: “Take Action, Time To Respond, No Procrastinating, Decide and Do It Now”

Message (paraphrased): “Antelope is an animal much revered and honored by Native American tribes. Because Antelope taught the tribes a valuable lesson. He taught them to take action. When they were cold and hungry, Antelope taught them to take action to care for themselves, even if that meant he sacrificed his own life for that lesson. It was all part of the greater Mystery of Life.

Antelope’s lesson for us today is…to Take Action. Antelope taught humans to honor the gifts sent from Great Spirit. Antelope signifies knowledgeable action, and the knowledge of life’s circle. Antelope also indicates a message of Higher Purpose. The only way to know what that is, is to start listening to your inner voice, and take action.

Antelope may also be telling you that a Decision to start is now necessary. The main element to procrastination is lack of conviction. To honor your chosen destiny is to honor your commitment to what you “proclaim” you are doing. Walk your talk. Have the desire to do something, make the firm decision to do something, then do it.

Antelope says, “Do it now! Don’t wait any longer.” Take courage, your sense of timing is perfect. When Antelope has bounded into your cards, the time is Now. The Power is You.”

Action 3

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Well…I think the message is clear here…yes?

If there is something you have always wanted to do, if you have been considering a change, if you have a passion for something, if you question your Life’s Purpose and need to ponder on that, if you need to take better care of yourself…any and all of the above and more…then Begin by making a Decision to do something, anything, start somewhere…and then Do It. Making the Decision is the first, and very important step. But…a Decision with no Action behind it, leads us nowhere.

Action 4

Even if there are sacrifices to make, it will all balance out. The thing is…is to start somewhere…even if we are not exactly sure where to start…start with something. Listen to that Inner Voice, the good one!, and listen for the messages. And then…Take Action. Movement always leads us to somewhere, and most of the time it is where we are supposed to go, or at the very least, somewhere we can learn more about where we are supposed to go.

Action 2

Also, there must be something about this “Timing”. Which sometimes is everything. The text above says…”Take Courage, your sense of Timing is perfect”. That should mean a lot to us because it tells us we can Trust ourselves about this Action we need to take. Great Inspiration for getting started on what may be the most important Decision on our Paths. What will you Decide?

Action 1

Take Action! You have the Power! Go ahead…Do It!

Getting To Where?

“Not all those who wander are lost.”  ~ J.R.R. Tolkien

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”  ~ Ernest Hemingway

“The only journey is the one within.”  ~ Ranier Maria Rilke

“A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it.”  ~ John Steinbeck

“At every given moment we are absolutely perfect for what is required for our journey.”  ~ Steve Maraboli

“Your journey has molded you for your greater good, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Don’t think you’ve lost time. There is no short-cutting to life. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time.”  ~ Asha Tyson

“The journey is the treasure.”  ~ Lloyd Alexander

Mon. 3

from The Desk of MarDrag:

I have written on this blog before about the Journey of Life, our Journey, and what that means to us. But I was talking with a client this past week…a young woman who has just recently begun her Journey and is still confused about where she will go and what she wants to do. To young people, we might say that, well, you are young and your Journey has just begun, so embrace it and walk it well. But it occurred to me that all of us, no matter what age, begin our Journeys anew each time a change or event causes movement in our lives. So, we might say, we are always on a Journey of some kind…and yet we look to and focus on the Destination as the most important part of it.

And I began to ponder the questions, “Just Where Are We Going?” and “Where is It We Are Working So Hard To Get To?”.

Mon. 2

The thing is…as we have heard and I have written about before…the Power is in the Journey, not the Destination. Empowerment does not come at the end of the Journey…we do not of a sudden “arrive” at Empowerment…it IS the Journey – the taking of it – the bits and pieces of ourselves that we leave scattered along the way so that we can pick up the bits of wisdom that emerge for the leaving of them – and it is the wisdom we keep and are Empowered by. A Destination is just where we take a breath, rejuvenate, and begin again.

Now…is a Destination. We are here Now…we have arrived at Now…and should squeeze every bit of life out of Now…before we move on again.

So, if there are things that are not working, or we feel stuck, or if things are not manifesting as we wish, or there are struggles and stress…we must take a look at our Journey and how we are walking it…in the Now. If we consistently keep looking only at a Destination ahead, then we miss the Journey and the Destination we have already reached…in the Now. And too…we may miss a fork in the road, or a change in direction that would guide us to something we had not dreamed of yet. While it is, of course, good and right to have goals and dreams…if those do not manifest, (and some don’t for whatever reason), would we deny ourselves satisfaction and happiness then, because we did not reach where we thought we should? There is no guarantee with goals and dreams…so the Journey itself takes on a new importance.

Mon. 4

We need to acknowledge each step we have taken on our Journey, for it has brought us here to this Destination of Now…and we have grown with each step, and moved forward. We ought to give ourselves credit for that, for it has taken much energy and perseverance, and we are to be championed for that. Every step, every hardship, every lesson, every joy…has contributed to this Now and, whether it seems acceptable or not…it is right where we are supposed to be. The sum of our past steps have walked us here. Now…what would we do with that knowledge that will help us walk the Journey of our True Path and Empower us?

Mon. 5

Be in the moment. Know that you are on the right step on the Journey. Open yourself to new directions if the one you are looking at is not working. Better still…do not look too far in any direction, look at the steps beneath your feet and concentrate on those. Trust that they will walk you exactly where you are meant to go. And, enjoy the adventure of the Journey!
