Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.” ~ Pope John XXIII

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

What we focus on grows. If we can remember that daily, we can guide our thoughts from what we fear or lack and focus them on our hopes and dreams and the potential that we have…every day…to make a new start or to finish a dream long desired. Do not give up! If we have failed at something, it just means it was not the right thing and the space needs to be cleared so we can begin again, on another dream, and make that happen. The potential to succeed is always there. And if we make that our intent, then the rest will fall away, and we can fulfill those hopes and dreams we so resolutely desire. Let us focus on the possibilities of what can still happen rather than on what has not happened.

TH 2

“Intuition is a sense of knowing how to act spontaneously, without needing to know why.” ~ Sylvia Clare

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Why? It is a question so frequently asked. Sometimes we receive and answer…and sometimes we are called to move forward without answers or knowledge about why, how, when, or where. It is at these times that we are acting on Intuition and Instinct. Intuition does not need a reason to act…it already knows the reason and the answer. Listen to that Intuitive voice and follow its message. We will likely find the answer to Why on the road to Where.

“Travelers, there is no path, paths are made by walking.” ~ Antonio Machado

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

This quote caught my attention and made me stop and think. It begs the age old question…”Which came first, the path or the traveler?” There are many who came before us that blazed trails for us to follow, and many to come after us who will walk in our steps, if we are to leave an imprint. But the truth is…if we are to forge our own True Path and live our True Life, then we must create a new path, a path that our own unique and individual steps fit to, for no one can shape a path for us. We can learn from others, watch their steps and emulate them, or study many different paths…but when the time comes, we must walk in our own power and strength and clear the debris around us, shine our Light, and illuminate the path before us to show us the way. There is no other way to find our True Path. So, we must start walking.

Thoughts For The Day

Thoughts 1

“The bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you refuse to take the turn.” ~ Author Unknown

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

The path…or road…of life is not a straight and narrow line. It is a series of curves, hills and valleys. Sometimes, just when we think we have it figured out, or we have a stretch of smooth pavement, a bend in the road appears and we are loathe to take it. We stop in our tracks, wonder why the bend has come when things have been good, and we resist following the turn. Don’t let that bend be the end of your road. Take the turn…and have faith that you will maneuver it well and that something even better is around the corner…if not right away, then eventually.

Thoughts 3

“Realize that if a door closed, it’s because what was behind it wasn’t meant for you.” ~ Mandy Hale

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

So, I have heard about many closed doors this week. But, this quote is so true. Sometimes, we think we know what is best, or we want something no matter what the consequences, or we struggle to open a door we thought we were meant to or should…but…if the door closes and does not admit us…then it was not meant to be and we should let go the door knob. Because, as you can see in the picture…if the door before us is closed…it is because there is another open to us, it is just in a different direction. Turn around and look.

Thoughts 2

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.”~ Eckhart Tolle

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

I know you have all likely heard some form of the quote above at least once. I added it here today just in case…we can all use a reminder now and then.

Know that you are all part of the good in my life, and I acknowledge you! I send you Many Blessings!

Life Is A Purpose

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.” ~Helen Keller

“Every choice before you represents the universe inviting you to remember who you are and what you want.” ~Alan Cohen

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn’t matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.”  ~Barbara Hall

“You will recognize your own path when you come upon it, because you will suddenly have all the energy and imagination you will ever need.”  ~Jerry Gillies

“The end is not the reward; the path you take, the emotions that course through you as you grasp life – that is the reward.” ~Jamie Magee

from the Desk of MarDrag:

What is Life’s Purpose? That is such a big question for all of us, one that we spend our entire lives pondering. We have such questions and considerations. Is it something we are? Is it something we do? Is it something we find one day and live happily ever after? Is it something we never find and search for forever? Is it something “out there” or something “within”? This is a subject that masters, philosophers, geniuses and brilliant minds have discussed and debated for millenniums. And we mere folk have struggled to understand it too, in our own ways.

I, too, have contemplated this question for most of my life. I used to think that, if I could just find my life’s purpose, the reason I am here on this earth, then I would finally be happy, content. Meanwhile, as I was searching and contemplating….I lived a lot of life. I survived my childhood (LOL), I grew into an adult, chose my career, had a family, and watched them grow. I had some great successes, as well as some great failures. I made mistakes, and learned great lessons from them. I took care of others. I walked a spiritual path, studied and learned a great deal. Had some deep and earth shattering moments of revelation.

And still I asked….what is my purpose?

Not too long ago, I realized something that changed my perception. I realized that my life’s purpose….was to live my life. Exactly how I was living it, am living it, and will live it, until I am here no longer.

Purpose 1

Every experience I had or will have, every movement, every choice or decision, every action or task, every thought and emotion ….is the purpose of my life. Everything I have done, thought or felt has led me to this moment…..and will continue to lead me where I am meant to go. It all counts, even when we think it is meaningless, difficult or painful. This doesn’t mean we do not strive for a good/better life, or to make a contribution, or do something meaningful with our lives. It means that….just in the act of striving…is our purpose. There is significance in everything we do. One day, our purpose may be just to get through a difficult day. Another day it may be to smile at someone, or perform a random act of kindness and make their day a better one. Another may be to create the next life changing invention. Or to write a best seller. Or do something to change the world. Or it could just be to be the best you at what you do that day, be it work, caretaking or even doing nothing at all. But to do it with all your might.

Purpose 3

The thing is….each day we wake, we get to say, I have purpose today. We get to give our lives purpose, rather than ask what is that purpose. Purpose is not the destination, but the journey, and all we experience, feel and share while traveling. From this, we gather all the imagination and energy we need to walk our walk. Our threads that weave the larger picture of the tapestry of this universe are full of purpose in that, without our thread, weaving in exactly the way it winds through the tapestry, makes the picture it’s perfect self. It would not look the way it does, it would not be the gorgeous tapestry that it is….if not for our own threads, running through it, in their own way….on purpose.

Purpose 2

“Life is a fairy tale. Live it with wonder and amazement.”  ~Welwyn Wilton Katz

A Word About Judgment

“Judging is preventing us from understanding a new truth. Free yourself from the rules of old judgments and create the space for new understanding.”  ~ Steve Maraboli

“Love is the only mirror we must use to judge ourselves and others.” ~ Bodie Thoene

“Don’t concern yourself with the opinions of those who judge you. That is placing on them an importance they do not have.”  ~ Donna Lynn Hope

“A person that judges others will inevitably judge themselves harshly. It is only when one stops judging others that one can truly appreciate the beauty within.”  ~ Ando Oomae

“How would your life be different if…You stopped making negative judgmental assumptions about people you encounter? Let today be the day…You look for the good in everyone you meet and respect their journey.”  ~ Steve Maraboli

“If someone isn’t what others want them to be, the others become angry. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.” ~ Paulo Coehlo

“As long as we continue to live as if we are what we do, what we have, and what other people think about us, we will remain filled with judgments, opinions, evaluations, and condemnations. We will remain addicted to putting people and things in their “right” place.” ~ Henri J.M. Nouwen

“You can’t judge people and touch their souls at the same time.” ~ Tama Kieves

from The Desk of MarDrag:

On yesterday’s post, “Thoughts For The Day”, one of the quotes I wrote about was on how we treat people and Judgment. I have been pondering on the subject since then…and was compelled to write a post focused on the word…the concept…of Judgment.

We have all experienced Judgment…and being Judged. It is a notion that sweeps through our lives on a daily basis, whether we are the ones being Judged, or doing the Judging. In a (or perhaps MY) “perfect world”…I would take that notion, that word, out of our vocabulary completely…because I do not think it enhances our lives in any way.

Yet…it seems to have become a wave that is gathering water…growing and roaring…and swallowing our tolerance for our fellow human beings. It breaks my heart! Because each and every one of us have our life story, have walked the pavement of our lives, have trudged the hills and valleys…and just for that accomplishment…we deserve respect.

Judgment is an impulse…born of our own insecurities about ourselves. If…we truly loved our own selves unconditionally…we would not be compelled to Judge someone else for what or who they were or were not, or their actions. We can have an opinion…an impression…stand by our standards and what we personally view as right or wrong…but it is not within our right to lay that upon anyone else. Our perception is just that…our perception, based on where we have come from and what we have learned in our lives. The person standing next to us has had a different life…and has their own perception. Would we have it that they lay their perceptions upon us?

And yet…again…we have all experienced this. We have been Judged and held for wanting. And the worst culprit of that Judgment upon ourselves…is US! How harshly do we Judge ourselves, our thoughts, our actions…within one day? How aware are we of the dialogue that fills our minds about the beliefs we have about our worth? How much insight or compassion do we have and show ourselves for doing the best we can in this moment?

J-Life Path

Judgment attacks a souls’ worth. Whether it is of yourself or another.

When we feel the urge to Judge…perhaps we could stop for a moment…and replace that thought with Compassion or Love. While a Judging thought creates anger and frustration (toward the self and others)…a thought of Compassion or Love creates a feeling of well-being, tolerance and acceptance…something we all want and need in our lives.

J-Compassion 2

Life these days, in this world we have become confronted with, is hard. I believe one of the reasons things are as they are is because we have forgotten that we are here to share this land with each other, share our Love, and live our lives in Harmony. What use then…is Judgment?

So, the next time you are faced with a Judgment upon yourself from someone else…cast it off. Do not make it your own…for it is nothing having to do with you. It is the other persons’ perception…and only that. And…the next time you are taken by a whim to Judge someone else…ask yourself to what purpose is it…and then turn that thought into a loving one. YOU feel better…you make the other person feel better…and then you feel even better for making someone else feel better. Get it? Wink!

And now…I have waxed philosophic for a long post here…but I feel so strongly about this. I believe everyone has a right to their lives…successes, failures, unwise choices, silliness and all. And I Judge no one for who or what they are. I have not walked your path…I have not had my toes pinched by your shoes…I have not had my heart broken or soul mangled by your pain…nor have I experienced your pleasures and joys. So…who am I to Judge?

I send each and everyone of you Loving Thoughts today…and everyday…and Blessings and Wishes for the Best for you. My heart soars with Love…my soul spills over with Compassion…because you are all Magnificent Beings in your own right, doing the best you can…and You deserve to know that you are worth it!
