Weekend Inspiration ~ Be Kind

K11.jpg

Listen…this is a tough world we live in…for now hopefully. And just going out into it every day and interacting with people is stressful. We hardly know what to expect one day to the next. But…I so believe…that we should not stop trying our best to be Kind to one another, as well as ourselves. If we carry Kindness in our hearts and share that with others, it will make a difference. At the very least, it will let the Universe know we have not forsaken our true nature and forgotten to Love, Care, and Be Kind. We must continue to carry the torch of Love and Kindness as we move forward. It will be what saves us. Blessings!

Weekend Inspiration ~ Random Acts of Kindness ~ Repost

K2.jpg

I actually wrote and posted this blog a few years ago. It is interesting that I came across it today…as now, more than ever, we need to remember to do this. I KNOW IT IS HARD…especially with so much negative energy and people being hateful. But…in the face of that…Love and Kindness is what we want, so we must continue to live by it…even when it the hardest ever to do. May you all have a weekend full of Kindness and Love. I send some to you from the depth of my humble Heart and Soul. So Many Blessings to You All!

~~~~~~
The world we live in at the moment can be a worrisome, frightening, and confusing place. We can be unsure how to deal with it, and so, put our heads down and do not look up too much, for fear of what we will see. We shake our heads and wonder…how did we get here? And what can we do to change it?
Though a small thing…Random Acts of Kindness can remind us that there is good to be had in this world, and that we can be the ones to keep that good alive. We can stare down this craziness, stand up to it, and prove it will not change what is natural and inherent in us all…Kindness.
K4.jpg
Think about that as you go on with your day. And do Random Acts of Kindness…just to share good energy. Some of the things I like to do is…pay for the person’s meal behind me in the take out line. Or wish a stranger a good day. Ask a neighbor if they need help with something. Or visit a home for the elderly just to spread Kindness. Another thing I do is tape a dollar bill on the back of diaper packages at the store with a “wishing you abundance” message on them. Open the door for someone, help carry packages, clean out your closet and give the clothes to a shelter, hug someone. Leave an encouraging note. Thank someone.  If you think about it…there are many ways to do Random Acts of Kindness.
K5.jpg
If you think about it.
K3.jpg
I know the comment on the picture above is a lofty one…and maybe overly optimistic. But…what if it is true? What if, by chance, it would work? Shouldn’t we at least try?
K6.jpg
And one of the best parts is…we can feel good knowing we made someone smile, or brightened their day with a surprise. And just think…we make that other saying, “Live each day as if something wonderful is about to happen”, come true for someone. How cool is that? All that energy comes back to us at some point too. So we are winners all around.
That has got to put some good energy out there to combat the rest of the murk. I Believe it. I’m stubborn like that!
EGBOK ~ Really! ~ Repost
Did reading that make you giggle just a little bit and say whaaa…? It has a good sound, like something you want to repeat a couple of times because it rolls off your tongue in a cheeky kind of way. (See what I did there?) Anyway, I learned this at a self-help seminar many years ago, when they were all the rage, but it stuck with me and I have used it many times over the years. I do not know if there is an “author” or inventor of this little gem to give credit to, I do not know the origin of it, but if there is, consider yourself credited and thanked for this little quip that may sound funny but carries a potent message. It seemed a good thing to say today.
Repeat this affirmation as many times as you need to today…and pass it on. It is easy to say when you can’t get all the words out yourself. And, it can make a difference.
Never Enough Of…
I was out in the world this weekend…struck by the negative attitudes and general bad behavior that seems to be such a part our existence these days. It saddens me so much…likely because I am old enough to remember a kinder gentler time when this was not how it was. So I start the week with a reminder to us all…no matter what is going on…there is never a reason to forget to…
A Careless Whisper
Whisper1.jpg
I was in a large crowded area the other day waiting for an appointment. I usually like to melt into the crowd, stay to myself, and sometimes people watch. We humans are an interesting study! But, this day, I was disturbed by what I saw and heard.
I know that most people will say that the world has changed and become a harder, more fearful place to live…and I agree, this is true. I also believe that so many social graces have fallen by the wayside, with social media making it ok to “say anything”. Again, I hear most people say that we all just have to grow a thicker skin, let it roll off, or not take it personal. (which, incidentally, I do not necessarily agree with).
But…what if it IS personal?
This is what I saw…there were many people of all shapes, sizes, and colors in this room. Yet, I overheard (because they were loud, I was not intentionally listening) two women criticizing and making fun of another woman sitting a few chairs away. Because these women were loud, the other woman also overheard what they were saying. I saw her shoulders slump, and she turned slightly away. The women continued their verbal assault on this woman that they did not know who had not done or said anything to them. I was getting irritated and felt compassion for the poor young lady and was about to get up and speak to the two that were cackling, but then the young lady got up herself…and walked out of the office, I can only assume to get away from these women and their awful judgmental voices.
It made me so sad…and I thought…how can we do this to one another? Those two women did not know who the other woman was or what her life was like, what her story was. EVERYONE has a story, that life story that makes them who they are. Everyone. And we have no right to judge another’s story. We also do not know how much hurt a person can feel from a careless whisper. What if that young lady was already in a sensitive place, and those harsh words from a careless person, sent her over the edge? We do not know how badly they can be affected…and we should consider this when we feel compelled to judge or say something unkind, flippant, or harsh. As we all are, because we are human.
The thing is…we do not know what people’s hearts look like. We do not know what they have been through.
Whisper3.jpg
And one careless whisper can ruin one day, one life. Why would we ever want to do this?
But a kind word, a kind whisper…can also change a person’s day.
Whisper5.jpg
Our hearts should look like this…from the kind words we hear each other say.
Whisper6
Let us make sure our words reflect Love and Kindness…and that which we would want to hear back as well.
Thoughts For The Day
TH 1
“You are your own worst enemy. If you can learn to stop expecting impossible perfection, in yourself and others, you may find the happiness that has always eluded you.” ~ Lisa Kleypas
MarDrag’s Thoughts:
We are hard on ourselves. And so, hard on others too, when we expect Perfection. If we can accept that Perfection is an illusion constructed to hide imperfections, then perhaps we can allow the winds of change to blow away that illusion to reveal that…no one and nothing is ever Perfect. AND YET…we are all Perfect…just as we are. Because all that we have gone through has led us here to this moment, and at this moment, we have choices about where we go next and how we react to those choices. If we stop trying to Be Perfect…we will find Perfection in our Imperfectness. Be that Perfect Imperfect You.
TH 2
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” ~ Leo Buscaglia
MarDrag’s Thoughts:
We touch each other’s lives, every day, in ways that we are often unaware of. A smile here, a touch there…can help change a person’s day in remarkable and wonderful ways. There is such Power in Kindness. Be aware of that today…and be Kind. You never know how much that may touch someone and change their life. And…begin that Kindness…with yourself!
TH 3
“Today expect something good to happen to you no matter what occurred yesterday. Realize the past no longer holds you captive. It can only continue to hurt you if you hold on to it. Let the past go. A simply abundant world awaits.” ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach
MarDrag’s Thoughts:
Today is a new day…full of Possibility and Opportunity. It matters not what happened yesterday…let it go. For there are a plethora of chances for something else wonderful to happen today. Start the day believing something Magical is about to happen…and it will.
Blessings!
Monday Message ~ Compassion
Good Morning! In keeping with our tradition here, to seek guidance and wisdom for a message to begin our week with…I turned to my set of “Angel Cards” by Kathy Taylor and Joy Drake to see what message they had for us today. As I closed my eyes and ran my hands through the cards, the one that surfaced and stuck to my fingers was:
Compassion
Compassion
I long ago lost the book that went with these cards, but it is not difficult to ascertain the message this one is sending us today. The world, and many of those in it, have turned hard. There are so many who judge, ridicule, and hate…too many…and it seems that Compassion and Kindness have been put in the background. So too, when we forget to have Compassion for others, we forget to have it for ourselves…and it creates a pattern that is not easy to change. We have to actively desire to change this pattern…and that begins with ourselves.
Compassion 4
Today, let us carry this word Compassion in our minds. Carry its meaning in our hearts. And let it work through us in action. Begin by looking in the mirror and letting our Self know we have Compassion for our own paths and the trials set forth on that path, the struggles we overcome to continue on that path, and then endeavor to show ourselves Kindness and Gentleness, nurture ourselves with Love and Understanding…for we are Warriors trying to make a difference and find some Happiness to live too. We deserve to show ourselves Compassion, rather than judgment, fear, or disappointment. Our paths are what they are for a reason.
Compassion 2
So too, are the paths of others. So we are called to take that Compassion out into the world and Shine it brightly. Look to our neighbor, co-worker, stranger…and know they have their story too, their road strewn with pebbles obstacles too. And as we share that Compassion with others, it grows within us, and spreads out like a great lovely mist, sprinkling sweet gentle energy over us and others to balance and transform those negative energies that would think they have the power.
Let us show them just how powerful Compassion can be…and change the world, our world, a bit today.
Compassion 3
My own heart reaches out to All of you, in deep Compassion as you manage your life and path. I know it is not always easy, and sometimes downright painful…but know you make a difference in this world…simply by being you. So I turn my heart toward you and let my Compassion flow to you. May it envelope you in a warm, loving embrace of nurturing and support.
Blessings!
Thoughts For The Day
Thoughts 1
“Kindness is more than deeds. It is an attitude, an expression, a look, a touch. It is anything that lifts another person.”  ~ C. Neil Strait
from The Desk of MarDrag:
Be more than Kind…BE Kindness. The smallest gesture can make the biggest difference in someone’s day, especially our own. Even when we are down or angry, making a gesture of Kindness changes that, it turns the energy around. When we do something to make someone else feel better, a magical thing happens…we feel better too. But most importantly…Random Acts of Kindness can change the world. Let us begin today.
Thoughts 2
“Painful as it may be, a significant emotional event can be the catalystfor choosing a direction that serves us –and those around us – more effectively.”  ~ Louisa May Alcott
from The Desk of MarDrag:
If we can keep in mind that even the most difficult events in our lives can change them in ways we least expect, then there is something positive to gain from them. As we experience the pain or emotions the event creates, we tend to focus on the pain it is causing rather than the cause of the pain itself. If we can step back and look at these events as stepping stones to a change in direction that will benefit us, then we can power through those events with greater clarity and strength…because we know that whatever happens to us, it will lead us always in the right direction to where we are meant to go…not necessarily where we “think” we should go. Pay close attention to the details.
Thoughts 3
“Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.”  ~ Auguste Rodin
from The Desk of MarDrag:
And this quote follows the above quote perfectly. Everything is an experience to be cherished, to learn from, and to grow and move forward from. There is nothing to be wasted if we use our experiences to grow…not just to live through or get through. Embrace it all, and there is not a drop that will be wasted.
Random Acts of Kindness
Kind 1
The world we live in at the moment can be a worrisome, frightening, and confusing place. We can be unsure how to deal with it, and so, put our heads down and do not look up too much, for fear of what we will see. We shake our heads and wonder…how did we get here? And what can we do to change it?
Kind 3
Think about that as you go on with your day. And do Random Acts of Kindness…just to share good energy. Some of the things I like to do is…pay for the person’s meal behind me in the take out line. Or once, I was renting DVD’s and the woman ahead of me, with 3 small children, could not pay her overdue fees. The clerk let her take new movies anyway, so when it came my turn, I paid her fees and left and extra $10 on her account so she could rent more movies. Another thing I do is tape a dollar bill on the back of diaper packages at the store with a “wishing you abundance” message on them. Open the door for someone, help carry packages, clean out your closet and give the clothes to a shelter, hug someone. If you think about it…there are many ways to do Random Acts of Kindness.
Kind 2
If you think about it.
Kind 4
I know the comment on the picture above is a lofty one…and maybe overly optimistic. But…what if it is true? What if, by chance, it would work? Shouldn’t we at least try?
And one of the best parts is…that good feeling you have knowing you made someone smile, or lifted their day with something unexpected. It may be that…you make that other saying, “Live each day as if something wonderful is about to happen”, come true for someone. How cool is that? And so too, what we put out there, comes back to us.
That has got to put some good energy out there to combat the rest of the murk. I have to believe it.  Shall we then…
