I am ?? yrs old and I have so many unanswered questions!!!!

Q1.jpg

I still haven’t found out who let the Dogs Out…where’s the beef…how to get to Sesame Street… why Dora doesn’t just use Google Maps.

Q2.jpg

Why do all flavors of fruit loops taste exactly the same, or how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop……why eggs are packaged in a flimsy paper carton, but batteries are secured in plastic that’s tough as nails, yet light bulbs too are in a flimsy carton. Ever buy scissors? You need scissors to cut into the packaging of scissors.

Q3.jpg

I still don’t understand why there is Braille on drive up ATM’s or why “abbreviated” is such a long word; or why is there a D in ‘fridge’ but not in refrigerator…why lemon juice is made with artificial flavor yet dish-washing liquid is made with real lemons… why they sterilize the needle for lethal injections.

q4

And, why do you have to “put your two cents in” but it’s only a “penny for your thoughts”…where’s that extra penny going? Why do The Alphabet Song and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star have the same tune… why did you just try to sing those two previous songs.

And just what is Victoria’s secret? ….and what would you do for a Klondike bar and you know as soon as you bite into it it falls apart.

Q5.jpg

Why do we drive on Parkways and park on Driveways?

Do you really think I am this witty?? … I actually got this from a friend, who stole it from her brother’s girlfriend’s, uncle’s cousin’s, baby momma’s doctor who lived next door to an old class mate’s mail man…Now it is your turn to take it from me…Peace!!

Weekend Inspiration ~ Turn “It” Off!

Off2.png

There is no doubt things are happening, ramping up, and getting intense just about everywhere we look today. I do not believe there is any place on this planet right now not going through “change chaos”. And we are being bombarded through the media, etc…as well as our own minds and hearts becoming overwhelmed with a vast array of emotions. It can be exhausting and discouraging. That is why…I am making the suggestion for this “Weekend Inspiration” post to…

Off8.jpg

Take a break from it all and let go of the need to keep up with it. We are headed for a tough week. So, just for this weekend…

Off1.jpg

We need to give our minds and hearts a little down time…

Off4.jpg

And turn our Focus back onto ourselves, our own lives, our homes and loved ones and just let…

We need now, more than ever, to take care of ourselves, our hopes, our dreams, and our Inner Peace and Power…

Off3.jpg

Allow this weekend to be about YOU…as you “turn it off” out there…and turn it on within you…Do something from your everyday bucket list…or just concentrate on being peaceful and creating joy in your house, heart, and family…

Turn the negative noise away with the decision to…

Let Yourself have this time to replenish your Mind, Heart, Soul, and Body…we are going to need it!

A Message for the New Year

Happy.png

Well, here we are, on the brink of closing one year and welcoming a new one. This year, 2016, has been a full year to say the least, a tumultuous one, full of a great many ups and downs. We end 2016 in a bit of confusion and uncertainty. What do we put behind us and let go of? What should we anticipate, look forward to, expect…in the New Year and 2017?

I had been pondering this…and then I heard a song from many years ago by the folk singer Cat Stevens, from such a different time and culture so long past. But the words struck me…hard…as the perfect message to go forward into a New Year…a year that we are all wondering how to feel about.

F2.gif

The song is titled: “If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out”, Cat Stevens 1972

I recommend listening to it, it has a great melody…but it is the words that will keep you going through the transition into the New Year and beyond it. Because, I want to suggest that we not allow the circumstances we may be facing to keep us from living our own personal authentic lives as we wish…in Happiness, Love, Compassion, and Unity. It can be easy to let the energy and negativity envelop us and lead us to feelings of hopelessness or defeat or thinking that it has to affect us. But it doesn’t…if we don’t allow it.

Here is the first stanza of the song…

“Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
‘Cause there’s a million things to be
You know that there are”    Cat Stevens, 1972

So…what if we believe this…and do it? What if we choose to be Free…of anything that isn’t what we want in our own personal space? This isn’t to say we don’t deal with what is going on. It just means we do not allow it to pierce the circle of Love, Happiness, Peace, and Light that we draw around us and our loved ones. Don’t let the negativity get under your skin and win by entering and disturbing your life. YOU have a right to have the life and energy around you that you want, not what is dictated by circumstances that, for now, cannot be changed.

F3.jpg

“Well, if you want to say yes, say yes
And if you want to say no, say no
‘Cause there’s a million ways to go
You know that there are”

“And if you want to be me, be me
And if you want to be you, be you
‘Cause there’s a million things to do
You know that there are”    Cat Stevens, 1972

THERE ARE A MILLION THINGS TO DO, A MILLION WAYS TO BE, SO MANY CHOICES TO FULFILL US AND KEEP US HAPPY AND CONTENT…AS WE SHOULD BE. THIS IS OUR LIFE. THE WAY NEGATIVITY WINS IS IF WE STOP LIVING OUR TRUE AUTHENTIC LIVES BECAUSE OF IT.

F4.jpg

SO BE YOU…AND BE HOW YOU WANT TO BE IN YOUR LIFE…DREAM UP A MILLION DIFFERENT WAYS TO BE HAPPY, DO GOOD, SHINE, AND ENCOURAGE AND HELP OTHERS TO SHINE. LET THIS SONG BE A MANTRA TO REMIND US THAT WE HAVE THE RIGHT AND THE POWER TO BE FREE AND MAKE OUR OWN CHOICES ABOUT HOW WE LIVE. IN OUR OWN SPACE, IN OUR OWN LIGHT.

So if you want to Be Free…

Friday Poetry ~ Portland

I was going through some old poetry this past week…letting my fingers wander through the pages as my mind swirled and wandered through the memories. So many life moments captured in these lettered words, on white paper now faded and tinged with yellow…their energy lifting off the page in a cloud of nostalgia. I breathed it in, and let my thoughts flow and wrap around me as I succumbed, and stepped out of time for a moment, and whirled and dipped and floated on those delicious memories. One stood out in its clarity, and so I share the poem here today. I remember exactly where I was sitting when I wrote this…at a bay window in my little apartment in an old Victorian house. My very first place on my own, having moved by myself to this city that had called me to its heart. It will always be my home, for it is where I found myself, for the first time. A dear city, I will return to. Someday. Enjoy! Blessings!

Portland, Oregon

Oh, I so love the dusk in wintertime
As darkness slowly spills over the city
Lofty clouds hang heavy with rain
Over the lush full trees
As birds chatter one last time from their branches
Lights appear, shimmering in the sleek damp air
And disappear again
As they roll across Broadway Bridge in the distance
And a quiet hush sits about the air, as if
The city is holding its breath
In anticipation of the coming night

I sit suspended in those last moments of dusk
Suspended as if hanging on a thread of time
Captured in the spell of a winters eve
In Portland, the city of my heart

Finding Comfort

Comfort Winter Home

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.”  ~ Edith Sitwell

Comfort Taco Beer

“Never underestimate how much assistance, how much satisfaction, how much comfort, how much soul and transcendence there might be in a well-made taco and a cold bottle of beer.” ~ Tom Robbins

Comfort Home Sweet Home

“The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.” ~ Maya Angelou

Comfort Sunshine

“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness — just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.” ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder

Comfort Blanket

“Dream about things that envelop your being like a comfortable blanket.”  ~ T. Devour

from The Desk of MarDrag:

I had a long, busy, activity filled day the other day and when I finally completed everything and could take a break and a breather, I looked to find some relaxation and comfort. So I gathered an ice cold bottle of water, a snack, and a chocolate and climbed the stairs to my loft, where all my treasures, books, and my desk are located. Also in this lovely space is my favorite purple reading chair. It is an indulgence of plush material and sits deep. It has a matching ottoman perfect for resting tired feet. I keep a small table next to the chair, which is positioned in the middle of the loft, and I placed my food and beverage there. I lit a stick of incense, lit several candles, and turned to my chair. I sat down, deliberately scooting into its depths to find the exact right position, pushing and plumping the cushions with my body to fit it most comfortably. I propped my feet upon the ottoman, and took several long, deep, core breaths. This…I thought…is absolute Comfort.

This…I also thought…is what we need to strive to find a few moments for ourselves every day. I know, it is difficult to find the time. And some would say they cannot find Comfort in their life right now, that there is too much turbulence.

But…there are those simple, quiet things, as simple as a favorite chair, that can make those moments of Comfort for us. And it is those moments when we allow ourselves some Comfort that keep us going, nurtured, and replenished.

So, whatever Comfort means to you…allow yourself to find it among the stressful minutes of your day. Comfort can come in many ways or from many things or people…it matters not where it comes from…but that it comes to be a natural part of our lives, our days. Especially now, gather Comfort to you and give yourself that gift. It makes such a difference…and you deserve it!

And…may you find a bit of Comfort from your visit here. Know that Love and Warmth are wrapped around you with every click to the blog!

Blessings!
