Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“A river is victoriously persistent, overcoming all barriers. For a while it goes steadily on its course, but then comes to an obstacle. And for a while it is blocked, yet it soon makes a pathway around the obstacle. Or a river will drop out of sight for miles, only later to emerge again even broader and greater than ever… Never focus your eyes on the obstacle or the difficulty.” ~ Oswald Chambers

TH 2

“Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles, but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next.” ~ Ben Carson

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Both of these quotes are about Obstacles. I love the first one…because it so eloquently points out that…the flow of a river never stops, or never runs out. It may have to weave around barriers, or overcome obstacles, and it may even disappear for a stretch…but its persistent waters will always find their path again. Like we humans. We are ever resilient…as the river…so take that reflection and live by it. Do not fence yourself in with your fears. Use those hurdles and obstacles to make you stronger.

Our reaction to, and our attitude towards obstacles and barriers is THE thing that determines whether we get stuck or flow on.

TH 3

“But what is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?” ~ Albert Camus

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

No matter where you are, how you live, or what circumstances you face…seek to be in Harmony with them. That is…do not fight with your life…fight to find Harmony with it. It is when we flow with our life rather than against it that we can find a way to Happiness, even through the difficulties.

Weekend Inspiration ~ Spirituality

Spirit 12

“Spirituality is to be found and nurtured in the smallest of daily activities. The Spirituality that feeds the soul and ultimately heals our psychological wounds may be found in those sacred objects that dress themselves in the accoutrements of the ordinary.”  ~ Thomas Moore

This quote is on the post that has been up the last couple of days…and as I have been befuddled with a hazy mind as I have been sick…this quote floated and looped around that haze and caught my attention. It is really very profound to me because…sometimes we can think that Spirituality, or the Spirit in our lives, lives outside of us, or is something we look for outside ourselves. But the Spiritual Path is not something that is “above” our life, or “outside” it to find…it is that blanket of Belief, Oneness, and Power that we lay over our life to rise up from the mundane and connect with the Divine. For it is when we allow the Divine energy, and Spirit by whatever name we call it, to manifest and become one with our Soul, that Understanding, Love, and Harmony can truly become part of us.

Be inspired to look for, and see, Spirit in your life today. It is within you yet all around you too, and in everything you do. And when found and connected to Divine energy, that is when miracles begin to happen. Blessings!

Friday Poetry ~ The Forest

Misty 3

THE FOREST

Leaves wander restlessly

As they swirl

And fall to the ground

The trees speak

And groan as their boughs

Bend gently in the wind

While the sun dapples through the mist

Coaxing Faeries

From their mushroom huts

Wood nymphs scamper

Fireflies slumber

And Harmony dances

With all creatures

Magic glides through the foliage

Around and about

In sweeping circles

Touching the tip

Of all that lives

In this

The lush green Forest

Weekend Inspiration ~ Acceptance

Acceptance is often a difficult concept. We can be confused by its messages as well. Do we accept things as they are or try to change them? If we accept them, will they bring us down? If we do not accept them, will they crash in on us anyway?

I believe that Acceptance of all things is the key to Happiness. As some of these quotes below allude to…the first step in change or growth…is to Accept how it is to begin with. From that Acceptance comes Clarity. And from that Clarity comes Understanding. And from Understanding comes better Choices.

Accept 8

Accept 1

Accept 2

Acceptance does not indicate weakness. It does not mean we are giving up on anything. It simply means we are Strong enough to see things for what they truly are so that we can be better informed and clearly present. When we can Accept things as they are in the moment…then we can make better decisions about how to move forward.

Accept 3

Accept 6

It is at the moment of complete Acceptance that Change can occur.

Accept 9

Accept 7

Acceptance takes us past denial and allows us to be more deeply in touch with our lives and what is really happening. Which leads us to a deeper wisdom…and always leads to better choices.

Accept 4

The greatest Acceptance is Self-Acceptance…for when we Accept ourselves for who we are at this very moment…then we know Unconditional Love…and we can give it to ourselves and share it with others.

praise

And from this springs the Happiness, Peace, and Harmony we are searching for.

Blessings!

Weekend Inspiration ~ Meditation

Meditate 7

It seems the messages that came through for inspiration for my blog posts this week spoke a great deal about potential, space, and going quiet to look into that space to see the potential of possibilities that are close at hand for us. “Going Quiet” can mean many different things to all of us…and they are all good and right…but one of the best ways to go into the quiet, or space, is to Meditate. Whether it be simply sitting with eyes closed in silence or in full on Meditation…these moments help us get back in balance and stay cleansed and grounded so that we can be in optimum form to handle our lives. And also, in Quiet Meditation, we connect with the Divine and are able to hear and feel those wispy voices of wisdom that have so many wonderful things to tell us. Intuition speaks in that silence. An important voice to hear.

So…this weekend inspiration is…to find a few moments to Meditate, or Go Quiet, and listen for the whispers of wisdom that come to you. Or, simply quiet your mind and enjoy the peace that silence and space bring with them. Relax…and feel the calm sweep over you, and know that…it will all be OK.

I love the following quote because it sends a timely message that…if we remember to consider every action we take, every chore we do, every care we take with others, every meal we make…is an action of our inner spirit…and if we perform each act with grace and harmony, our lives will automatically be full of love and peace. Put love, grace and harmony into everything you do and it will stream back to you.

Enjoy your weekend in the Quiet of the Soul…

and may you find Peace, Love and Harmony there.

Monday Message ~ Introspection

Happy Labor Day! In the quiet of this early morn, the animals came and gathered in the area…and in my mind. They called to me, and let me know there was a message to be had from them this day. And so, as I honor the animals their wisdom, I took to my book and Medicine Cards of “The Discovery of Power Through The Ways of Animals” by Jamie Sams and David Carson. It was this card that came to my hand:

Bear 1

Bear ~ Introspection: “Bear…Invite me into the cave, where silence surrounds the answers you gave.”

Message (paraphrased): “The strength of Bear medicine is the power of Introspection. It lies in the West on the great Medicine Wheel of Life. Bear seeks honey, or the sweetness of truth. Bear enters the womb-cave to hibernate, to digest the year’s experience. It is said our goals reside in the West also. To accomplish the goals and dreams that we carry, the art of Introspection is necessary.

The womb-cave is the place where all solutions and answers live in the harmony with the questions that fill our realities. If we choose to believe there are many questions to life, we must also believe that the answers to these questions reside within us. Each and every being has the capacity to quiet the mind, enter the silence, and know.

In the cave, Bear seeks answers while he/she is dreaming or hibernating. Bear is then reborn in spring, like the opening of spring flowers. In Bear crossing our path today, the Power of Knowing has invited you to enter the silence and become acquainted with the womb-cave, so that your goals may become realities. This is the strength of Bear.”

Bear 2

from The Desk of MarDrag:

In our busy and complicated lives these days, it is often very difficult to find the time, place, and space to have “quiet time”…or a chance for Introspection. We are always in a hurry, or another email has come through, or any manner of distraction takes our time from out of our hands, and we sometimes do not even realize we have not secured a moment for ourselves.

But…Bear is telling us today…that it is important, even critical…to seek that time for Introspection and to “go into the silence”, into the womb-cave, to find our Truth. For as this message says…it is only in that silence that “all solutions and answers live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities”. That is a profound statement. For it is True that for every question, there is an answer, or it would not be a question. So, they must both reside within us. Never doubt that.

As the great cacophony of life erupts around us…how can we possibly hear the sometimes faint voice of truth or answers? And too, we tend to look outside ourselves for answers, or at least the validation of the answer we have come up with.

Only in the silence…will we know.

And that is one of the sweetest moments of life…when we know we know the answer.

Be like the Bear…and go into the cave, into the silence, and seek your answers there. It is when we step away from a problem or issue, that we can expand our vision to include the wisdom that is innate in our beings. Listen for and cultivate that voice. That voice that you will only hear when you go quiet.

Bear 4

No matter how busy you are…seek that moment of Introspection. The Power of Knowing invites you, with the strength of a Bear.

Blessings!

Thoughts For The Day

Thoughts 1“You may have a fresh start at any moment you choose, for this thing that we call “failure” is not the falling down, but the staying down.”  ~ Mary Pickford

MarDrag’s Thoughts: I love this quote for its simple truth. We all fall down sometimes in life, or things do not work out as we planned or expected. We are quick to call ourselves failures and become depressed or feel hopeless. But…it is only failure if we fall…and stay down. If we fall and wallow in the muck of misery…we inevitably will get stuck and make it harder to get out of it. If we can look at the falls we have, or the mistakes we make, or the sometimes unfortunate turn things can take as stepping stones to get to where we are meant to go…then we can not fail at all…for all those things contain messages and lessons that, if learned, make us that much more ready to move on to be a success. And…at any moment…we can decide to step out of the muck and have a fresh start. Go ahead…lift your foot…and take the step!

Thoughts 2

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”  ~ Gandhi

MarDrag’s Thoughts: We cannot possibly find happiness, or be happy, if the things we think, say, and do are at odds with each other. If we say one thing but do another…we are not living in truth. Even worse is when we think one way, but say and do another. We are only fooling ourselves in these cases, and render a constant state of confusion, for ourselves and for those around us. Strive for alignment of the mind, heart, soul and body. Be honest, with everyone but most importantly your Self…and you will find Balance…which leads to Harmony.

Thoughts 3

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”  ~ Buddha

MarDrag’s Thoughts: In my opinion, we as a society have forgotten to be there for each other…we have forgotten that we are all connected. And even further…we have forgotten that we need each other and need to work together to make this world a better place to live in. It seems it is “every man for himself” today and that there is a fear that if we give something of ourselves, we are giving it away never to see it again, and we fear we will lack. But as Buddha says…Happiness and Kindness never decreases when shared. In fact, I believe it increases when shared. Today…share a little bit of your happiness with someone…and see it grow within and around you. Light that candle.

Thoughts 4

“There is a calmness to a life lived in gratitude, a quiet joy.”  ~ Ralph Blum

MarDrag’s Thoughts: Be grateful for the gift of your life. Always racing on the next best thing takes a lot of energy and does not guarantee happiness and satisfaction. Be grateful for what you do have. Within that grateful glow is a sense of peace…like you can stop for a moment and enjoy what you have already achieved. Experience the calm and the joy of Gratitude.

Blessings!

Tuesday Affirmation ~ Illumination & The Past

I seem to be saying this a great deal lately…but a week has passed again…already. Perhaps it is just me, but time seems to be marching rapidly these days. So…we find ourselves here for “Affirmation Tuesday” and the card that skittered out of the deck of “The Gift of Affirmations” by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber for us today is:

Illumination 3

The Gift of Illumination: “I Learn Valuable Lessons From Studying The Past”

Message: “Use this gift when you are dissatisfied with your life or feel tormented by how different you believe things could or should have been. The present moment is your only point of power. Taking action now in harmony with what you know you have to do while using the past to guide your actions is the best way to change your future”.

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Could have…should have…would have. These are familiar quotes, are they not? We all…at some time in our lives…have used these. I know I have, and for a while in my past, it was difficult to move beyond them. In my early adult years, I had a great deal of angst about my childhood and circumstances that were beyond my control. I recall thinking…”If this was just this way, or that way…everything would be perfect”. In our formative years, we make decisions about…and have pictures in our mind about…how our lives will look when we “grow up”. Some of those dreams come true and the pictures match up. But then, there are those pictures that do not make it into the tapestry…and that can result in feelings of failure, dissatisfaction, frustration…and then blame.

But, a defining moment came for me when I “woke up” one day and realized that all the things I was lamenting from my past…had passedand they could only continue to affect me if I allowed them to. I had “grown up” and it was my choice what I did with my life, what I created, what I allowed into my psyche, my heart, my soul. I realized that…while I did need to process the past and any lingering emotions that held me blocked from my future…my past was really no longer holding me back…I was.

You see, the tighter we hold onto something, the bigger and stronger it grows because we are feeding our energy into it…and it is taking that energy. If we are holding on, then there is a reason and we need to uncover that reason and sort it out. And then…we need to Let Go of it. It is no longer part of our present life, or our future, and should be regaled to the past…where it belongs.

As the affirmation says…we should use the past as a guideline for what we want our life to look like in the present and the future…but it does not belong in a front row seat of our “life play”. The past can be stepping stones…or a hedge running along the sides of the pavement we take our life steps on…to steer us, to reflect for us, or to nudge us…but, if we allow it to tangle in our steps…then it can trip us.

I love the affirmations’ quote above; “the present moment is your only point of power”. I believe in this completely. Dragging the past along with us…or projecting too far into the future…will only confuse the decisions and choices we have to make today. Using the past and the future as a kind of mirror…for reflections sake…will aid us…but the real Power for us comes in being completely aware of what is happening in this moment, what we a re feeling, what we are seeing, then looking even deeper…and Illuminating the truth of who we are and where we are…at this moment.

Illumination 4

Harmony. Since the past, present and future of ourselves is wrapped together inside us…resting on the Power of this moment…then it is best to strive that they all reside in Harmony within us. And those battles with the self will be over.

Blessings!
