With Power…Still

P3.jpg

I, like everyone, go through moments of insecurity, doubt, fear, and feelings of unworthiness. It is human to go through these emotions…and completely natural and normal. Even if we work on ourselves, build self-esteem and confidence, and see ourselves as successes…we still go through these moments of insecurity and questioning our abilities and self-worth sometimes. It is part of our structure, and always will be. It is what we do with these feelings and how we choose to live that makes the difference.

But…something else came to me in a meditation the other day to add to this.

P4.jpg

Before this meditation, I was having one of those days of insecurity and doubt. I sat down for a meditation to explore it and move myself out of that cloud. And an interesting message came from my guides. Everyone (and me) probably already knows and accepts this…but it came as a new thought to me for some reason, and I heard it anew. I was feeling low, and low energy, and apologizing for not “being myself” and operating at optimum power and strength. I felt sorry that my energy level was not at its brightest, even in meditation. And then…a lovely message spread through me…and the light bulb went on. This was the message…

P5.jpg

That, no matter how we feel “in our heads”…that is, no matter how low, insecure, or defeated we can feel at times…under those emotions…we are still the Person and Soul we always are…this does not change. It is only our negative issues and feelings that take over our minds…but in our heart and soul…we are still the Powerful Spirit we have grown into, that does not change just because we feel insecure.

Our lovely minds can go so many places with fear and anxiety…and try to convince us we are not who we really are. But that is just the mind. It sends us in circles up there…but down in the depths of our heart, soul, and character…those things do not change just because we think or feel insecure. We are still the Powerful Being we have always been.

P9.jpg

For me, it helped realizing that…even if my Power felt low, or I had a moment of insecurity or doubt, that it did not mean I had lost all my gifts. Unless, of course, I BELIEVE my own insecure voice.

Of course, having those feelings over time can chip away at our heart and soul, and we can lose a sense of our true selves…BUT, even then, it still does not change the fact that we are who we are and we have our own Power, Strength, and Purpose built in to our Being, our unique Self.

P2.jpg

So, for those moments, or days, when we feel insecure, low, defeated, or unworthy…go ahead and feel it, process it, and move it out. BUT…remember all the while that…no matter what our feelings or troubles are…our Core Self which holds our Power, Strength, and Purpose, and Gifts is still there, living inside us, supporting us, and waiting for us to process through these human emotions and get back to being who we really are…our True Self…which is the real success.

p10

So actually…we‘ve got this kids! We basically have our own backs. We have the best support we could ask for. While we ruminate in insecurity, our True Powerful Self sits patiently waiting for us to process…and is there, exactly where we left them when we went on our tangent…and nothing is diminished. Truth cannot be destroyed…it just is. So, the True Self will always prevail.

Lends a bit of comfort to these old bones.

Be Gentle

Going through my recent difficulties, I have been through a wide range of emotions. Some…I did not know I had the capacity for. I have ALWAYS been (and continue to be) a lover of souls, accepting of others, understanding of foibles, and forgiving of harshness. But, some of the things that have happened to me have brought out feelings I would rather have had left veiled. I am getting through it all, with my True Soul intact…but I have a deeper understanding now of how people reach the depths of anger and defeat that they do. So, a lesson learned is valuable.

As I wade in this pool of uncertainty…I have continually reminded myself not to change because of it…to retain my True Heart and Soul and Mind and that, in the end…I will prevail.

So here is a gentle reminder for all of you who may be going through the same process…or are just saddened and frustrated by how the world seems to be declining into chaos, misery, and fear.

DON’T LET IT CHANGE YOU…and ultimately, we will prevail.

Blessings and Love to All!

Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“A river is victoriously persistent, overcoming all barriers. For a while it goes steadily on its course, but then comes to an obstacle. And for a while it is blocked, yet it soon makes a pathway around the obstacle. Or a river will drop out of sight for miles, only later to emerge again even broader and greater than ever… Never focus your eyes on the obstacle or the difficulty.” ~ Oswald Chambers

TH 2

“Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles, but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next.” ~ Ben Carson

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Both of these quotes are about Obstacles. I love the first one…because it so eloquently points out that…the flow of a river never stops, or never runs out. It may have to weave around barriers, or overcome obstacles, and it may even disappear for a stretch…but its persistent waters will always find their path again. Like we humans. We are ever resilient…as the river…so take that reflection and live by it. Do not fence yourself in with your fears. Use those hurdles and obstacles to make you stronger.

Our reaction to, and our attitude towards obstacles and barriers is THE thing that determines whether we get stuck or flow on.

TH 3

“But what is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?” ~ Albert Camus

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

No matter where you are, how you live, or what circumstances you face…seek to be in Harmony with them. That is…do not fight with your life…fight to find Harmony with it. It is when we flow with our life rather than against it that we can find a way to Happiness, even through the difficulties.

Thoughts For The Day

TH 2

“F.E.A.R. has two meanings:
Forget Everything And Run –Or- Face Everything And Rise” ~ Author Unknown

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

This quote is brilliant. We always have a choice whether we listen to Fear and let it limit us, or whether we vanquish its false voice and overcome it. Fear is another of those emotions that only has as much power as we give it. So, do we Run or Rise?

TH 3

“Why do you want to shut out of your life any uneasiness, any misery, since after all you don’t know what work these conditions are doing inside you? Why do you want to persecute yourself with the question of where all this is coming from and where it is going? Since you know, after all, that you are in the midst of transitions and you wished for nothing so much as to change.” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

How often do we think of change…and ask for it, at times beg for it. But we do not consider the path on the way to change, and what it might bring. We cannot just snap our fingers and magically be changed. We have to go through the process…which sometimes brings discomfort. And then we lament and ask why is this happening and where will it take me. When we were the ones who asked for change in the first place. We must be willing to walk the road of change and embrace the transition it requires for us to get to where we want to go. And thus…it becomes even more important to be as sure as possible about the decisions we make and the changes we ask for.

TH 1

“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.” ~ Alan Alda

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Sometimes in the wilderness of our journey the path is not quite clear, or we struggle with doubts because we cannot always see the way distinctly. But, if we choose to trust our Intuition, that inner wiser voice, then the confidence in our choices grows stronger and we have even more proof that our Intuition leads us always in the right direction. We must be brave in the wilderness of our Intuition and listen to its voice, because it will always lead us out of the dark scary places and into Right Action.

A Bit More About Transitions

“Look on every exit as being an entrance somewhere else.” ~ Tom Stoppard

“In the space between chaos and shape there is another chance.”  ~ Jeanette Winterson

“A season of loneliness and isolation is when the caterpillar gets its wings. Remember that next time you feel alone.”  ~ Mandy Hale

Trans 4

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Transitions. Everyone seems to be going through them on any number of different levels, so I wanted to expound a bit on the subject and the Weekend Post. Transitions seem to be the most difficult part of change and evolving. When we are in Transition, we are smack in the middle of a Change…we have left what is changing behind and we have moved into the tunnel, the middle of the movement, we are “in transit”, and we can no longer see nor are we attached to what we left behind…but we also can not yet see where we are headed, or what the outcome will be. But as one of the quotes from Sunday’s blog says…” all Transitions are composed of an ending, a neutral zone, and a new beginning.” (Walter Bridges). It is the new beginning we sometimes forget is waiting for us.

Transitions are that time when we hold our breath in anticipation of what will come. Would we spend that time in Fear…or in our Truth and Power as we cultivate the energy that will take us where we want to go. It is in Transition that we have the most Power…because it is that moment, that space between what was created and what is to be created…so it is a chance to find clarity on what we really want to create. It can be a useful time.

Trans 2

And while we may not be certain something good is going to come, we are equally not certain that something bad is going to come either. We Fear what will happen, yet it has not happened yet, so what use is that Fear? If it happens, we already know we will deal with it. Because we always do. If something wonderful happens, then we have wasted that time spent in Fear of the unknown, when the unknown held something great for us all along.

In addition, we are contributors to our Destiny, so while outside forces play a part in what occurs in our lives, we too have our inner force, our Power, Choices, and Decisions that can be the factors that sway the direction in which the Transition takes us.

The Oxford American Dictionary tells us the definition of Transition is:

the process of changing from one state or style to another; passage from one form, state, style, or place to another; movement, development, or evolution from one form, stage, or style to another

I like the part that states Transition is a Passage, so that tells us it is not a place we stay. The very root of Transition is Transit…in movement. And a Passage, a Movement, always takes us to somewhere else. It is as if being on a train ride. So, are we riding that train in Fear and Apprehension…or would we spend that time on the train reading, studying, praying, creating, dreaming, and sending our Energy and Power out to be counted in the forming of our destination. It really is all in our Perception of how we see Transition.

Trans 3

If we are in Transition, then movement has begun and we cannot stop it. But, we can certainly have Power in directing where we are going and what we choose along the way. AND…most importantly…we have a choice about how we spend our time in Transition. Which can be…taking care of ourselves, gaining clarity on where we are going, and focusing our energy in a positive direction.

Transitions can be a bumpy ride…but they can also be full of useful and empowering action, even if that action is to sit back and wait for the train to arrive at the next station. We do not have to dread Transition, it can be exciting and thrilling if we see it as the time of the caterpillar in its cocoon, just before it breaks free and morphs into a beautiful Butterfly…and begins a whole new life.

Thoughts For The Day

Thoughts 1Thoughts 2

“Deep down, at our core, there are only two emotions: Love and Fear. All positive emotions come from Love, all negative emotions come from Fear. From Love flows happiness, contentment, peace, and joy. From Fear comes anger, hate, anxiety, and guilt.”  ~ David Kessler

from The Desk of MarDrag:

I do believe this to some extent. If we break all emotions down to the base core…they are about Love or Fear. It seems, knowing that, brings a clarity that allows us to manage those emotions better. If we know it comes from Love…let it shine. If it comes from Fear…find out why…and let it go. Love will move us forward while Fear will hold us back. Which would we rather live with?

Thoughts 3

“The finest thing in the world is knowing how to belong to oneself.”  ~ Michel de Montaigne

from The Desk of MarDrag:

If we really take notice, how many people or obligations are we beholden to? If we think deeper, do we feel we “belong” to those people and obligations more than we belong to ourselves? Are we forgetting to put ourselves high on the list of who gets attention? Because that is the only way we will get to know ourselves better and, gather our power around us, and finally belong where we belong…within ourselves. And a fine world we will find within…ready to project without.

Thoughts 4

“We dream to give ourselves hope. To stop dreaming – well, that’s like saying you can never change your fate.”  ~ Amy Tan

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Do you have a Dream? Many Dreams? For a while, way back when, I got discouraged and stopped Dreaming. I felt that, if they were not to become true, why Dream at all. I do not remember feeling much alive during that period. But…I do remember the day I started Dreaming again. And felt a connection to life I thought had been lost. Don’t ever, ever stop Dreaming. Not only can those Dreams change our fate…but they are the very threads that connect us to our True Self. Dreams open doors to wild and wonderful unknown worlds where magic is alive and anything is possible. What can we Dream up today?

Tuesday Affirmations ~ About Fear

It is “Affirmation Tuesday”, so I took to my “Gifts of Affirmations” Cards (by Amy Zerner & Monte Farber) for our quote today. An interesting card came up…as we have been talking about Change, Potential, and New Beginnings…which can bring out the Fear in us. Here is the card and the message:

Fear 1

Gift of Compassion ~ “I Use My Fears As Signs That Guide And Protect Me”

Message (paraphrased): “Use this gift when your fears prevent you from acting in your best interest. Our fears exist to help keep us safe from harm and from repeating mistakes we have made. If we seek to understand why we are afraid, we can make fear our friend and helper, not our master. It is important to avoid fearing success and the many changes it will bring.”

Fear 2

from The Desk of MarDrag:

So, Fear is a two-sided coin. On one side, Fear is our helper. It keeps us safe from harm and lets us know when something is in our path that we should stay away from, or alerts us to danger or harm. It also helps us to remember past mistakes that we are “afraid” to make again, and if we listen, we make better choices and decisions because of that Fear.

Fear 4

But, there is the other side of the coin of Fear also. That Fear debilitates us if we allow it to. That Fear can take command of our lives and cause us to shut down and stop living the life we are meant to live, and enjoy. It can keep us from new experiences, growing, and having loving people in our lives. It can also, as the affirmation says, keep us from moving forward to success and the changes being successful can bring. You have heard the saying…it is easier to be a failure than to fear success.

You have also heard, I am sure, the saying that the only thing to really Fear is Fear itself. And I do believe this is true. So, if we seek to understand what we Fear and why we Fear, then we can either release it and let it go, or master it, so we can function in spite of it…rather than allowing it to master us.

Fear 5

The thing is, Fear is inside of us, so we have created it. And, if we create something, we can “uncreate” it. Knowledge is power, so if we gain knowledge about our Fears, then they become less powerful, (as our power grows), and they have less and less impact. In addition, those things we Fear “will happen” most of the time don’t happen…and we have spent all that energy on the Fear instead of on taking action, or on being happy.

So, ask yourself this question…what purpose does Fear have in my life? Write it down, make a list of pros and cons (like a two-sided coin). Writing brings clarity, and a list will show you what to keep and what to discard. Draw a line through the Fears that do not serve you. Put the list somewhere you can see it and, when you feel a Fear taking command, look to the list to see if it is one that helps you. If it is not, and it has a line through it, remind yourself you have crossed that one “off your list” and discarded it…and it has no power over you anymore. And let it go. The more you do this, the more your mind will retrain itself to recognize a healthy Fear, or one that keeps you hindered in your life, and soon, you will not be controlled by it any longer. YOU will have the control back.

Fear 3

Seek to be the Mistress/Master of your life and all things in your mind and heart. You are the commander…steer yourself in the right direction!

Blessings!

Monday Message ~ Change

For our “Monday Message” to start the week with today, I am doing something a bit different. I have vivid dreams. Frequently. I have written about some of them here on the blog, and I have been having many of these dreams these past two weeks. I had been sick a few weeks ago and am just now catching up on sleep I had missed…so my slumber has been full of images and messages. Rather than write about a specific dream today though…I am pulling a card from my “Dream Cards” deck by Strephon Kaplan-Williams to see what they have to tell us. When I pull cards or Runes and such for our Monday Message, I am always aware of the rush of energy as the card reveals itself to be profoundly on the mark. The card I pulled today is:

Change 3

Change: Death ~ Rebirth ~ Causing, Contrast, Newness

Message (paraphrased): “Change is doing. We go from one thing to another. Why do people fear change and giving up what they have for what they do not have? Afraid that what they receive will be worse? We fear change because we identify with our present picture of ourselves and react against becoming something different. Resisting change makes change more extreme when it comes. We change by going with the energy, letting it consume old attitudes and self-images.

Your task is to actively participate in the change process by making appropriate sacrifices and enhancing new possibilities.

Blends of the old create new life. Seek to create new combinations of things. When it is time to end something, do it decisively. Make some real changes by getting rid of old patterns. When things are being destroyed, destroy with them. Get out of those situations. What you see is also what you don’t see. Take a careful look at how you might be creating problems. It is not changing things which counts but sacrificing resistance to change. Follow your feelings when making changes. Often the value of the middle path is to have change become choice. Bring your opposite extremes together. Change your view and you change your reality. Consider your hidden motives for doing things.”

Change 2

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Wow! There are so many profound statements in this card. To begin…Change is a concept that brings with it many varying degrees, circumstances, and therefore, emotions. At times we are ready for and supportive of Change. Other times we resist it to the point of denial, which ultimately brings hardship to our lives.

So let us begin with Resistance. It is so true that if we resist Change, it makes the Change that comes that much harder to deal with. Fear is the primary emotion that causes us to resist Change. As the quote says…we identify with who we are presently and fear becoming different…or not knowing what we will become if we allow Change to happen. But…we all know that Fear lies. So if we can silence its voice, (and that IS possible)…then we can see the value and benefit of Change and go with the energy rather than against it. It will ease our way into Change rather than force us into it. For Change is inevitable. And, if we actively participate in Change by letting go of what is no longer useful to us and embracing new possibilities, then we enhance our lives rather than struggle in them.

Change 4

Old patterns, situations, and problems need to be surrendered, let go of, in order for positive Change to occur and new and wonderful things to come in to fill the space. When something is breaking down or becoming toxic, let it go. End it, decisively. That is how we regain positive control of our lives. Change does not have to mean we lose control…it can be the vehicle for regaining control. If we do not resist it! If we make the sacrifice of the resistance to Change, then Change becomes our Choice. We Choose to allow Change to come and we use it to make better Choices and move forward to a new and better place.

Change 1

“Change your view and you change your reality”. Nothing could be more true. Rather than looking at Change as something to fear, or disrupt our lives…if we view Change as a vehicle to positive Control and movement to new and good things in our lives…then we see that we, in reality, have nothing to fear. In fact…we can look forward to it all…all that happens to us…because we know it is just a means for transport to another level in our lives that we either want to or are meant to get to.

So, instead of resisting Change, or fearing it, flow with it. Participate in the process of Change and see the possibilities that arise because of it. Make Change work….For You!

Blessings!

Tuesday Affirmation ~ Using Fear

It has been a few weeks since I have done “Affirmation Tuesday”…so I bring to you a message today from my deck “Gifts of Affirmations” by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber. As I splayed the deck across my desk and waved my hand over them, the heat rose from the cards and one in particular sent a spark into my palm. The card is:

Fear 3

Affirmation of Compassion:   “I Use My Fears As Signs That Guide And Protect Me”

Message:   “Use this gift when your fears prevent you from acting in your best interest. Our fears exist to help keep us safe from harm and from repeating mistakes we have made. If we seek to understand why we are afraid, we can make fear our friend and helper, not our master. It is important to avoid fearing success and the many changes it will bring.”

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Fear is something we all live with, every day. It is part of our lives for many reasons, and it exists on many different levels. Natural Fear is necessary…that is, that Fear that warns us of danger, or tells us to keep our hand off the fire, or reminds us of a choice or mistake we do not want to make again. Natural Fear can serve us and be productive. It is an important emotion to keep and use to our benefit.

But, then there is the other Fear…that Fear that overwhelms us, can control us, and can keep us from living our lives in the way we want or need to. That debilitating Fear that keeps us from taking action, or venturing into a new experience or relationship, or stops us from living the life we deserve and desire. This type of Fear is not our friend, is not productive, and does not act in our best interest.

Fear can be such a dastardly thing to deal with…because it causes such…Fear. But the thing is…Fear is created, that is…we create it. It is within us and, if we have command of our emotions rather than our emotions having command of us, then we can manage that Fear and master it, so that we are not in its Power. If we create it…then we can uncreate it, for we are masters of our emotions and our domain. It is within our Power to deal with Fear as we see fit…no matter what its false voice would tell us. Use Fear to your advantage before it uses you.

Fear 2

You see, Fear has no Power on its own. It gains its Power by taking ours. But, in order to take the Power…we have to have Power in the first place. Do not believe that false voice of Fear that says you must succumb to it and pay it homage. It tells you this so you will hand it your Power. Say NO…I will not give up my Power to Fear. And watch it fade in the shadow of your authority.

Fear 1

As the affirmation says…Fear can be used as signs to guide us in life. But we cannot live a life well lived with Fear as our commander. Seek to study and enlighten yourself on the source of your Fear, seek to understand it, and make it work for you instead of against you. The more we understand ourselves…the less afraid we will be. Be Brave…and overcome your Fears. Be the Master/Mistress of your life!

Fear 5

Tuesday Affirmations ~ Facing The Unknown

My, how the weeks are flying by! It is time for “Affirmation Tuesday” again…so soon it seems. Or perhaps it is just me, feeling time marching by so swiftly. In any case, I have “The Gift of Affirmations” cards by Amy Zerner and Monte Farber before me…splayed out on the desk as my hand hovers over them, searching for today’s message. And the card that presents itself is:

The Gift of Healing: “I Enjoy Being Healthy And Doing What Is Good For Me”

Message: “Use this gift when you feel resistant to doing what you know is in your best interest. The desire to sabotage our efforts to improve ourselves comes from our resistance to change. With self-improvement comes new activities, friends, and other manifestations of change we so often resist because we fear the unknown.”

from the Desk of MarDrag:

Change…it is one of the primary fears we all have to manage in our daily lives. I speak with people every day who grapple with this concept…for many different reasons. What I believe is that, we get into our comfort zones and have difficulty leaving them even if it means growth and movement into something better.

The thing is…whether our comfort zone is a good and healthy one, or a negative one, we at least “know” where we are at and what we need to do to handle the situation. It becomes familiar to us, and even comforting in a way, because we have become accustomed to it and know its routine. We feel that if we just stay where we are, we will not have to face the fear of the unknown that pervades the space outside our comfort zone. Some would admit that they would rather stay in a negative space for fear of striking out to something new, and perhaps failing. Others would say they do not have it within them to venture from their zones and spend the energy to grow into something new. And often, when life itself tries to move us, we would sabotage that move so we do not have to face the unknown.

But, consider this…how many moments of facing the “Unknown” have we already experienced in our lives? From the time we are a babies, we have faced the unknown of taking our first steps, conquering the first day of school, surviving our first heartbreak, living through the break up of a family or an illness that was unexpected. And we have the memory of adapting through those moments in our cells to draw on when presented with a new situation. We have built strength and courage on these moments. And that counts.

Comfort Zone 6

The Truth is…we are always faced with the “Unknown” on some level, and we cannot escape it no matter how hard we try to stay within our comfort zone. If we take the chance to embrace each day…which is, in itself, an “Unknown”, then we will have the opportunity to benefit from all the joys of life, while managing the sorrows. Every day is a new beginning, and anything can happen.

Comfort Zone 2

If we could lessen our resistance by acknowledging ourselves for having already accomplished success with so many “Unknowns” in our lives, we can bring that positive energy into the present and build a strong foundation from it to support us moving into the future. We have nothing to fear…because we have ourselves and our history to count on. That is of great significance. WE are our most treasured champion…and we, alas, forget this frequently. We have all of the qualities within us necessary to make positive changes with pleasure rather than fear…but for our recognition of it.

Comfort Zone 4

Consider that, when a loved one seeks our counsel or advice when facing a negative situation or difficult decision…what do we encourage of them? We tell them to do the right thing for themselves and what is in their best interest. We tell them to do the thing that promotes their health and well-being.

Now…look in the mirror…see your best friend staring back at you…and tell them the same thing. Think enough of yourself, more even, to take your own counsel, for you are the greatest keeper of the secret of what is best for you. And usually…what is beyond our greatest fear…is our greatest achievement. By the Law of Polarity…if the fear is that big…then what is behind it is equally as grand in its delight for us.

Make your desire to do what is best, and most healthy for you…bigger than any fear that might keep you from it. That fear comes from within YOU…so YOU have the Power to command it to Be Gone! And that is the first step in self-improvement. The rest is far easier and more enjoyable.

Comfort Zone 5

Blessings!
