Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.” ~ Martin Buber

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

On our Journey, our Life Path, there are Destinations we see, aspire to, and reach. Destination is what keeps us going, with the desire, hope, and success of reaching them. BUT…we cannot always know every Destination life has planned for us. Some Destinations are secret…because they either hold a tremendous reward, or a profound lesson. Those Destinations are a combination of our efforts on our Path and the forces of the Higher Powers, Destiny if you will, that guide us on our Path. If we knew every detail or every end point, than would we see a need to even make the effort? Life’s little tricks! In addition, our Paths and Destinations change all the time, depending on our Choices and Decisions.

Experiencing Life is our Purpose, the Destination is the cherry on top. And isn’t Destiny a form of the word Destination to begin with? So, it is our Destiny to reach our Destinations. That may help us worry less about how we get there and enjoy our Path more fully along the way.

“Even the smallest changes in our daily routine can create incredible ripple effects that expand our vision of what is possible.” ~ Charles F. Glassman

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Sometimes, we can get in rut. We repeat the days, over and over, focusing on our obligations, work, and families, etc…and we can forget about the Magic of Life. That Magic that swirls and hangs outside our normal routine. That routine creates a circle around us, and very little gets in that is new. So, to bring Magic back into the circle, back into our lives…all we need to do…is make a small, simple change. Just start with one. Walk a different way today. Take a different route to work. Go to a different grocery store. Take up a new hobby. Reach out to someone you have not heard from in a long time. Something. One thing…Different. It is amazing how that can Create Change…and can open our vision to so many new possibilities. Get Creative. Go ahead…try it. Just to see.

TH 3

“Challenge is a dragon with a gift in its mouth. Tame the dragon and the gift is yours.” ~ Noela Evans

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

We have all heard the phrase about “taming our dragons”…meaning overcoming our challenges to reap the rewards. It is one of my favorite quotes…because of the Dragons. I have made friends with mine, and they are now my companions and guides rather than a symbol of negativity or difficulty. Both the words Challenge and Dragon conjure apprehension, fear, and “battle” in most people. But, as the quote says, both words also hold a great gift…if we can look past the fear and face them. Dragons are formidable creatures, but are lovers of treasure, and hoard it, saving it for special gifts. If you are friends with a Dragon, it will share its treasures with you. But, it also wants to know you will cherish the gift and use it well. Challenges are much the same. They hold a gift, buried within its lesson, and if we “tame” it…that is face it straight on and, through right action, come to its resolution…then there is a sparkly, rich gem of wisdom there for our taking, to treasure and use through our life.

Wouldn’t we rather have the jewels…than a dusty path with no pebbles or hurdles at all? And it is those pebbles that buff our Spirit into the Warrior that it is. So tame and make friends with those Dragons. All that glitters…is yours.

What Direction Do I Go

I dream very vividly and often. I wish I had a little camera to implant in my mind to record them. I have not written about my dreams in some time….but these past few days I have had some very profound ones. I really believe that dreams give us a glimpse of life on another level and provide information and messages that will help us in “real time”. So I took to my “Dream Cards” by Strephon Kaplan-Williams to bring you a message from the dreamland today. These are lovely cards…and are full of images and messages, including the primary message. I am going to list all of the secondary images and messages too, because they are rather profound, and I do not want us to miss anything. So, bear with a bit more lengthy post!

The card I pulled is:

Direction Dream Card

DIRECTIONGuiding, Destiny, Fulfilling (Central Image – A Bridge crosses a great chasm)

Message: Direction is when we value somewhere or something greater than life itself. Direction is not simply choosing goals and fulfilling them. All goals deceive, whether one is climbing ambition’s ladder, nurturing a family, or championing a major cause of the people. While these need commitment, they do not transcend the specifics of life. The only commitment that gives ultimate purpose is following Source energy to the end of your days, no matter where it leads you. Your Task Is: Ask if you have a purpose so valuable you can commit your life to it.

Secondary Images:

Snake: Only the choosing are chosen, only the chosen are choosing. Seek the source of what challenges you.

Door: Clearing obstacles is the first step in finding purpose. Learn from everything that does not go your way until you no longer want only your way.

Suitcase: The true cost of a journey is to give up what you don’t want to let go of. Hold on tightly, then choose to give.

Cards: Fortunes are not in the cards, but in the choices of life. Choose with certainty and never look back.

Stairs: If one has more than one direction in life, they tend to cancel each other out. For the moment, choose the most central direction.

Dog: To be led means to make anothers direction our own. Give up self-desire and be guided.

Car: To keep moving is not in itself a direction but a distraction. Stop yourself long enough to choose where you are going.

Lightening: The journey combines what happens to us with what we do about it. Act more from inner knowing than anxiety.

Direction 3from The Desk of MarDrag:
The Central Image, the Bridge, speaks of following Source energy no matter where it leads. (that “Source” is whatever it means to YOU). And….that our true Purpose is one that is so valuable to us that we commit our life to it. What could that be…to You? Seek the source of what challenges you, and find out. It is more important now than ever that we seek our True Self within and allow ourselves to be guided by that True Self.

Direction 9

And we can only be guided when we let go of everything that keeps us tethered to the past, or keeps us judging and questioning what our Direction is. “Give up self-desire and be guided” tells us to let go of the expectations we have for “needing and having” to know and be in control of our Direction. It is when we stop for a moment, listen to inner wisdom, and trust that voice, that we are guided by right action and our Direction becomes clear. The Direction we are pushing in is not always the “right” direction, and guidance will help us see if that is so.

Direction 4

I love the line, “Learn from everything that does not go your way until you no longer want only your way” because it reminds us that, while our individual tapestry is busily being woven, there is still the greater picture to be considered, and how our tapestry fits into that Great Tapestry. Perhaps now, more than ever, we need to reflect on this. And there are lessons to be learned from that which does not go our way from which we will see, there may be another way. Our way is not always the better way or the right way. And…it is ok if it is not. We should not expect ourselves to know the way all the time. Sometimes, it is ok to not know and it is necessary to listen and be led by the guidance of our inner wisdom as well as our Higher Power (whatever that means to us).

Direction 8

The rest of the messages tell us to slow down, stop even, to listen and pay attention so we can choose with clarity where we are going, instead of tumbling head on into the future. Let go of old habits and fears that keep us stuck, ask for guidance and it will come, then choose a Direction and know that we will be guided by our inner wisdom and knowing. It is time to trust that Wiser Self within us all and act from Inner Knowing rather than Anxiety. Fear, Guilt and Anxiety lead us nowhere…but Inner Wisdom and Knowing…which we ALL have…leads us always in the right….Direction.

Life’s A Purpose ~ Repost

Some conversations this week asked the question of Life’s Purpose…what it is and how we find it. For those people, and anyone else asking that question, I am reposting this blog in hope it sheds some light or understanding.  Blessings to You All!

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.” ~Helen Keller

“Every choice before you represents the universe inviting you to remember who you are and what you want.” ~Alan Cohen

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn’t matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.” ~Barbara Hall

“You will recognize your own path when you come upon it, because you will suddenly have all the energy and imagination you will ever need.” ~Jerry Gillies

“The end is not the reward; the path you take, the emotions that course through you as you grasp life – that is the reward.” ~Jamie Magee

P 1

from the Desk of MarDrag:

What is Life’s Purpose? That is such a big question for all of us, one that we spend our entire lives pondering. We have such questions and considerations. Is it something we are? Is it something we do? Is it something we find one day and live happily ever after? Is it something we never find and search for forever? Is it something “out there” or something “within”? This is a subject that masters, philosophers, geniuses and brilliant minds have discussed and debated for millenniums. And we mere folk have struggled to understand it too, in our own ways.

I, too, have contemplated this question for most of my life. I used to think that, if I could just find my life’s purpose, the reason I am here on this earth, then I would finally be happy, content. Meanwhile, as I was searching and contemplating….I lived a lot of life. I survived my childhood (LOL), I grew into an adult, chose my career, had a family, and watched them grow. I had some great successes, as well as some great failures. I made mistakes, and learned great lessons from them. I took care of others. I walked a spiritual path, studied and learned a great deal. Had some deep and earth shattering moments of revelation.

And still I asked….what is my purpose?

Not too long ago, I realized something that changed my perception. I realized that my life’s purpose….was to live my life. Exactly how I was living it, am living it, and will live it, until I am here no longer.

Every experience I had or will have, every movement, every choice or decision, every action or task, every thought and emotion ….is the purpose of my life. Everything I have done, thought or felt has led me to this moment…..and will continue to lead me where I am meant to go. It all counts, even when we think it is meaningless, difficult or painful. This doesn’t mean we do not strive for a good/better life, or to make a contribution, or do something meaningful with our lives. It means that….just in the act of striving…is our purpose. There is significance in everything we do. One day, our purpose may be just to get through a difficult day. Another day it may be to smile at someone, or perform a random act of kindness and make their day a better one. Another may be to create the next life changing invention. Or to write a best seller. Or do something to change the world. Or it could just be to be the best you at what you do that day, be it work, caretaking or even doing nothing at all. But to do it with all your might.

P 3

The thing is….each day we wake, we get to say, I have purpose today. We get to give our lives purpose, rather than ask what is that purpose. Purpose is not the destination, but the journey, and all we experience, feel and share while traveling. From this, we gather all the imagination and energy we need to walk our walk. Our threads that weave the larger picture of the tapestry of this universe are full of purpose in that, without our thread, weaving in exactly the way it winds through the tapestry, makes the picture it’s perfect self. It would not look the way it does, it would not be the gorgeous tapestry that it is….if not for our own threads, running through it, in their own way….on purpose.

Thoughts For The Day

Thoughts 1

“Kindness is more than deeds. It is an attitude, an expression, a look, a touch. It is anything that lifts another person.”  ~ C. Neil Strait

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Be more than Kind…BE Kindness. The smallest gesture can make the biggest difference in someone’s day, especially our own. Even when we are down or angry, making a gesture of Kindness changes that, it turns the energy around. When we do something to make someone else feel better, a magical thing happens…we feel better too. But most importantly…Random Acts of Kindness can change the world. Let us begin today.

Thoughts 2

“Painful as it may be, a significant emotional event can be the catalystfor choosing a direction that serves us –and those around us – more effectively.”  ~ Louisa May Alcott

from The Desk of MarDrag:

If we can keep in mind that even the most difficult events in our lives can change them in ways we least expect, then there is something positive to gain from them. As we experience the pain or emotions the event creates, we tend to focus on the pain it is causing rather than the cause of the pain itself. If we can step back and look at these events as stepping stones to a change in direction that will benefit us, then we can power through those events with greater clarity and strength…because we know that whatever happens to us, it will lead us always in the right direction to where we are meant to go…not necessarily where we “think” we should go. Pay close attention to the details.

Thoughts 3

“Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.”  ~ Auguste Rodin

from The Desk of MarDrag:

And this quote follows the above quote perfectly. Everything is an experience to be cherished, to learn from, and to grow and move forward from. There is nothing to be wasted if we use our experiences to grow…not just to live through or get through. Embrace it all, and there is not a drop that will be wasted.
