“When we live with a solitude of the heart, we can listen with attention to the words and the worlds of others, but when we are driven by loneliness, we tend to select just those remarks and events that bring immediate satisfaction to our own craving needs.”   ~ Henri Nouwen

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

I have to admit, I kept passing this quote and then coming back again to ponder. It took me awhile to understand and why it attracted my attention so much, but also made me want to look away from it. Solitude and Loneliness can be difficult aspects of life to endure. But as I read this, the difference between Solitude and Loneliness emerged from the mists of the quote. For to be Lonely is to be missing something, to yearn for what is not there. To lament and feel sorry to be alone. But Solitude is the wanting, the desire to be alone, to spend time with oneself in quiet to listen to “life” and its messages. One is external…and one is internal. One we look outside ourselves for validation of and collect words, tunes, songs, sighs and whatever else that feeds it so we can revel in the evidence that proves we should close our hearts. But one…true Solitude…in this we are open and listening and pondering and being…able to quiet the mental chatter and chatter from others so that we can listen to the world and others…and truly hear.

“Remember the child you once were…filled with imagination and wonder? You felt you could do and be anything. That child is the essence of who you are. The wonder is still there inside. It is your limitless spiritual power.”   ~ James Van Praagh

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

It is my belief that one of the worse things that happens to us as we grow into adults…is that we lose that spontaneous wonder with which we looked at the world as a child. Before we were conditioned by that world around us. I also believe that that childlike wonder does not go away completely. It lurks, and shows itself when we fall in love, or play with our own children, or see something that gives us joy. So, if instinctively we know it is still there…what if we let it out? What if we did not take ourselves so seriously and had a little fun? Even if we know there are things of a serious nature around us, what if we looked at them with the wonder of a child who believes in the possibilities of hope and peace. A child does not know “not possible” for they do not yet know the limitations of the adult world. Let us let our inner child’s imagination out and see what we can create then!

“Your Light is seen, your heart is known, your soul is cherished by more people than you might imagine. If you knew how many others have been touched in wonderful ways by you, you would be shocked. You are far more wonderful that you think you are. Rest with that. Rest easy with that. Breathe again. You are doing fine. Better than fine. You are doing great. So relax. And Love yourself today.”  ~ Neale Donald Walsch

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

There is nothing to add to this quote but that…I posted it today for all of you…as a reminder of who you are and how Magnificent you are. Believe it in its most awesome Truth…and do Love yourself today.

I send Love and Blessings to all of you. May Love and Magic touch your life today. You deserve it!

The Core of Our Strength ~ Repost

I posted this blog two years ago and then ran across it again today. It seems very fitting for this time, this weekend…so I leave it for you…to remember what lives inside each of us…ready to be tapped…no matter what is going on around us. May these words offer some comfort and inspiration. Blessings!

“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” ~ Marcus Aurelius

“Courage isn’t having the strength to go on – it is going on when you don’t have strength.”  ~ Napoleon

“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”  ~ Corrie Boom

“Don’t be afraid of your fears. They’re not there to scare you. They’re there to let you know that something is worth it.”  ~ C. JoyBell C.

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”  ~ Mahatma Gandhi

from The Desk of MarDrag:

This is a very unsettled and tough time we are going through. There is much in our own lives to handle, and the view of world events is troubling. We are all trying to carve out a corner of this world for ourselves, to follow our dreams and passions, and to find happiness and peace. It has not been easy, and I am hearing a great deal about how tired and discouraged many of us are. So, today’s post speaks to this…and it is the deepest desire of my heart and soul that these words will help in some small way.

I titled the blog “The Core Of Our Strength” because I want to talk about where Strength comes from. We hear that word bandied about a lot. It is written about, and told to us with good intentions, to help us remember how Strong we are and that we can get through anything, if we just believe in our Strength. But, when we feel discouraged, we may wonder where to gather that Strength, as it seems we may run out of it.

But…you see…we never will run out of it.

Why? Because Strength comes from our Core, our most inner Self. That Core place, that Center, that houses all the things we need to manage our life.

c3

And at our Core…is our Spiritual Warrior…our Warrior Energy. This is that Core, that place so deep down inside us that there is no end to it. Our Core is like the Core of the Earth…forever burning bright, hot, and full of Power and Energy. It is the layers of worry, doubt, and fear that we throw on top of our Core Strength that dampens the flame.

The one thing that is always steady, always there, and always exactly what it is…is our Core Self, our True Self, our Inner Warrior…that never changes and never gives up. Even as circumstances can change around us…and we can change our minds, or our thoughts, or our behavior…our Core Self stays steadfast. And that is to be celebrated.

This is why it is so important, especially now, to get in touch with our True Self, our Core Self…and cultivate it. Acknowledge it, and hear the truth that Self has to tell us. It is THE ONE thing we can ALWAYS count on…the steady heartbeat of our Core Self, our Core Strength. It never leaves us. Our Core Self will never abandon us, or run out of Strength. It is built in to us, for the purpose of holding us steady. That is what a Core does…it holds what is around it steady. It is the foundation, the rock solid axis on which we spin. So…our Core Strength can never forsake us…and we should trust it and rely on it. Believe in it…and believe in ourselves.

In the Core of an apple are the seeds from which it grows. So too, the seeds of what we want to grow in our lives are within us, at our Core…where the soil of Strength keeps them protected and nurtured. Reach in, reach down deep and find those seeds. Find the flame of that Core Self, that Core Strength, and bring it to the surface. Look at these illustrations of the apple and the Earth and see yourself in the reflection. You are whole, like the globe and the fruit, with a Core inside that holds you stable and secure. Know that. Believe it. See it. And let your Strength flow through, replenishing and sparking your motivation.

Have Hope and Faith. Love and Be Loved. And strike your best Warrior pose in Strength.

Tomorrow is a big day and no matter where you land on the political scope…it is going to be intense and unsettling. So I want to remind us all that…though we may not be able to control what is happening…we CAN still have control of our own worlds, thoughts, actions, and feelings.

S7.jpg

We can’t allow all the hype to penetrate so deep that we forget it is our response to it all that makes us miserable or ok.

S12.jpg

Even though we may feel we are being sucked into the negative wave…remember…

S10.jpg

We can panic and become worried and uncertain when things do not “look” like we think they should and it unsettles our peace of mind…

S1.jpg

But we can’t wait for everything to be perfect in order to be at Peace…So…

S2.jpg

The one thing we can all have command of is our thoughts, actions, and response to what is happening…so let us make a good choice for ourselves and…

S9.png

S11.jpg

Let us make a conscious choice to “view out there” while we stay Steady, Strong, Positive, and Peaceful within ourselves and our lives and worlds. Remember that things are changing rapidly moment to moment…and that means anything can happen. Let’s make that a Positive thing!

Thoughts For The Day

TD 1

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.”  ~ Viktor Frankl

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Something happens to us…then there is a heartbeat…and then we respond. Within that heartbeat, that minute space, there is a vast reservoir of freedom and power because, in that instant, lives our gift of choice. We pass over that moment in a rush to respond…but if we can strengthen our awareness to expand our focus of this moment, it opens up a great potential for growth. As the quote says, there is freedom in knowing we have that choice of how to respond…and that can change everything. Because it is in how we respond that sets the tone of how what happens to us plays out. And that gives us so much more command over our lives, rightly so. It also gives us more responsibility for our lives…but what is responsibility…but the ability to respond.

TD 2

“We tend to be held back from our goals by the simplicity of our comfort zones…but just how comfortable are we? Wouldn’t we be more content living in our dreams?”  ~ Michelle C. Ustaszeski

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

“The simplicity of our comfort zones”…This really caught my attention. Because I never thought of comfort zones as simplistic…but it makes sense. It may be “simpler” to stay in our comfort zones than it is to take the risk to break out of them. But as the quote says, how comfortable are we really within those zones? We create them because we are uncomfortable with something in our lives, but we are either afraid or unmotivated to make a change. So really, they do not offer us as much comfort as we would think. The question is ~ comfort vs. content. Should we settle for a comfort zone or aspire to be content by living in and following our dreams?

TD 3

“Understand that the right to choose your own path is a sacred privilege. Use it. Dwell in possibility.”  ~ Oprah Winfrey

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

We are fortunate in that we do have the ability and the right to choose our own path. We might think that circumstances force our path, and indeed, they do influence our progress. But…we are always at choice about what path we decide to follow. If we can remember that…even when it does not appear so…there are unlimited possibilities at our fingertips, then we will see that those paths are fluid and we can choose how and where those paths flow. Acknowledge this privilege, and honor your path by knowing it is a sacred gift and following its truth.
