You Are Important ~ Don’t Forget That ~ Repost

M1.jpg

In this swirling pool of negativity and waves of uncertainty, confusion, and vitriol…it is very easy to be swept away from ourselves. It pulls on our focus and emotions…and soon we are swimming away from that which is and should be important in our own lives, our own worlds. And we begin to feel helpless and ineffectual and unimportant. But that is not the truth. Never forget…

M2.jpg

EVERYONE matters and is an important and essential cog in the wheel of life and the world. No matter what you might hear “out there”.

M3.jpg

It is my heartfelt wish that these words sink in to your soul today and remind you…no matter how you are feeling…that You are important and have a purpose…just by being You.

M4.png

We receive such negative energy and so much static feedback in our days lately…let this be the counter message that reminds you that you do not have to believe in all of that. You can believe in YOU!

Weekend Inspiration ~ What To Do With Worry

W10.jpg

I decided to write this post because I heard this word a great deal this week…Worry. There is a plethora of things to be Worried about today, isn’t there? We not only have our own personal Worries, but now we have major global Worries too and all that Worry does not allow us very many moments of Peace, does it? It sounds like Worry has become a prevalent thing, something that has become a part of daily life. And that bothers me…because Worry is not the natural state we human beings are supposed to live in. Yet circumstances have led us here.

So…I wanted to share a little trick I use to help me stay out of the ”Worry Whirlpool”. I have used this trick for a long time and taught it to others…with great success and results. It is simple and makes sense.

Here’s the thing…in any given day, there are some things we can change, and some we cannot. But we Worry about them all, which can stop us from living life. So try this…if there is something we can and is possible to change in the next 15 minutes, go do it and make that change and move on. But, if there is no solution to be had in that 15 minutes…then just for those 15 minutes…let go of it and do not Worry. It’s only 15 minutes…and if nothing can change…then why Worry about it. What good would Worrying do in that 15 minutes if that Worry could not change anything.

W2.JPG

And by the way…Worry NEVER changes anything. It can’t…so why do we give so much Power to it?

Now…when that 15 minutes is up…look to the next 15 minutes. Repeat. And so on…until we can retrain our brains out of the Worry Whirlpool and teach it that Worry is useless. It only takes our energy that we should be spending on finding a solution or being happy in our lives until the thing can be resolved.

W1.jpg

Nowhere is it written that we have to suffer through our problems. We suffer through Worry…we solve the problems. Make sense? And too…how many of the things we Worry about happening actually ever come to be? Think about it.

W3

Without all that Worry playing out…we have energy and time to actually be present in our lives and experience it moment to moment no matter what that moment holds. We spend so much time Worrying about the past, and what the future will hold, that we miss the enjoyment of just being ourselves in the now. Which is the best part of us.

W6.jpg

I hope you will try this bit of a trick and allow yourselves a break from Worry. Start to imagine what you could do with all of that time and energy used up by Worry…15 minutes at a time.

Blessings!

“When we live with a solitude of the heart, we can listen with attention to the words and the worlds of others, but when we are driven by loneliness, we tend to select just those remarks and events that bring immediate satisfaction to our own craving needs.”   ~ Henri Nouwen

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

I have to admit, I kept passing this quote and then coming back again to ponder. It took me awhile to understand and why it attracted my attention so much, but also made me want to look away from it. Solitude and Loneliness can be difficult aspects of life to endure. But as I read this, the difference between Solitude and Loneliness emerged from the mists of the quote. For to be Lonely is to be missing something, to yearn for what is not there. To lament and feel sorry to be alone. But Solitude is the wanting, the desire to be alone, to spend time with oneself in quiet to listen to “life” and its messages. One is external…and one is internal. One we look outside ourselves for validation of and collect words, tunes, songs, sighs and whatever else that feeds it so we can revel in the evidence that proves we should close our hearts. But one…true Solitude…in this we are open and listening and pondering and being…able to quiet the mental chatter and chatter from others so that we can listen to the world and others…and truly hear.

“Remember the child you once were…filled with imagination and wonder? You felt you could do and be anything. That child is the essence of who you are. The wonder is still there inside. It is your limitless spiritual power.”   ~ James Van Praagh

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

It is my belief that one of the worse things that happens to us as we grow into adults…is that we lose that spontaneous wonder with which we looked at the world as a child. Before we were conditioned by that world around us. I also believe that that childlike wonder does not go away completely. It lurks, and shows itself when we fall in love, or play with our own children, or see something that gives us joy. So, if instinctively we know it is still there…what if we let it out? What if we did not take ourselves so seriously and had a little fun? Even if we know there are things of a serious nature around us, what if we looked at them with the wonder of a child who believes in the possibilities of hope and peace. A child does not know “not possible” for they do not yet know the limitations of the adult world. Let us let our inner child’s imagination out and see what we can create then!

“Your Light is seen, your heart is known, your soul is cherished by more people than you might imagine. If you knew how many others have been touched in wonderful ways by you, you would be shocked. You are far more wonderful that you think you are. Rest with that. Rest easy with that. Breathe again. You are doing fine. Better than fine. You are doing great. So relax. And Love yourself today.”  ~ Neale Donald Walsch

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

There is nothing to add to this quote but that…I posted it today for all of you…as a reminder of who you are and how Magnificent you are. Believe it in its most awesome Truth…and do Love yourself today.

I send Love and Blessings to all of you. May Love and Magic touch your life today. You deserve it!

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.”  ~ Martin Buber

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

On our Journey, our Life Path, there are Destinations we see, aspire to, and reach. Destination is what keeps us going, with the desire, hope, and success of reaching them. BUT…we cannot always know every Destination life has planned for us. Some Destinations are secret…because they either hold a tremendous reward, or a profound lesson. Those Destinations are a combination of our efforts on our Path and the forces of the Higher Powers, Destiny if you will, that guide us on our Path. If we knew every detail or every end point, than would we see a need to even make the effort? Life’s little tricks! In addition, our Paths and Destinations change all the time, depending on our Choices and Decisions.

Experiencing Life is our Purpose, the Destination is the cherry on top. And isn’t Destiny a form of the word Destination to begin with? So, it is our Destiny to reach our Destinations. That may help us worry less about how we get there and enjoy our Path more fully along the way.

“Even the smallest changes in our daily routine can create incredible ripple effects that expand our vision of what is possible.”   ~ Charles F. Glassman

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Sometimes, we can get in rut. We repeat the days, over and over, focusing on our obligations, work, and families, etc…and we can forget about the Magic of Life. That Magic that swirls and hangs outside our normal routine. That routine creates a circle around us, and very little gets in that is new. So, to bring Magic back into the circle, back into our lives…all we need to do…is make a small, simple change. Just start with one. Walk a different way today. Take a different route to work. Go to a different grocery store. Take up a new hobby. Reach out to someone you have not heard from in a long time. Something. One thing…Different. It is amazing how that can Create Change…and can open our vision to so many new possibilities. Get Creative. Go ahead…try it. Just to see.

“Challenge is a dragon with a gift in its mouth. Tame the dragon and the gift is yours.”  ~ Noela Evans

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

We have all heard the phrase about “taming our dragons”…meaning overcoming our challenges to reap the rewards. It is one of my favorite quotes…because of the Dragons. I have made friends with mine, and they are now my companions and guides rather than a symbol of negativity or difficulty. Both the words Challenge and Dragon conjure apprehension, fear, and “battle” in most people. But, as the quote says, both words also hold a great gift…if we can look past the fear and face them. Dragons are formidable creatures, but are lovers of treasure, and hoard it, saving it for special gifts. If you are friends with a Dragon, it will share its treasures with you. But, it also wants to know you will cherish the gift and use it well. Challenges are much the same. They hold a gift, buried within its lesson, and if we “tame” it…that is face it straight on and, through right action, come to its resolution…then there is a sparkly, rich gem of wisdom there for our taking, to treasure and use through our life.

Wouldn’t we rather have the jewels…than a dusty path with no pebbles or hurdles at all? And it is those pebbles that buff our Spirit into the Warrior that it is. So tame and make friends with those Dragons. All that glitters…is yours.

Blessings!

A Matter of Resolution

R2.jpg

In yesterday’s blog post, I talked about The Power of the Will and what it can do to drive our lives in the right direction. When we make a choice about our life, or a direction we want to go, or something we want to create…if we put The Power of Our Will behind it, to guide it and convey our determination to see it through to success…we are more likely to reach our goals or success.

But…what if we do this…and it still doesn’t turn out the way we thought, wanted, or hoped?

This subject came up in several conversations with multiple people this week, so I am compelled to write about it. Because sometimes, no matter how hard we try or how completely we direct our Will…things take a different turn and move another way. And we can get disappointed or discouraged, and begin to feel helpless.

R4.gif

BUT…(and there always is one!)…when that happens…can we say that, what did actually happen was not for the best…even if we are disappointed? Because sometimes…we do not always know what is best for us and/or “all” in a given situation. We have a perspective…from our position…but is it always right on the mark?

I say this because it came to me that, while we do and should pray for our wishes and dreams and direction to be fruitful…there is still the chance and idea that something even better is possible, but we had not looked far enough or known what could be possible.

R1.jpg

So…as we put our Will behind our Prayers…perhaps another way to ask is…

“For the Best Possible Resolution for Myself and for All involved”.

R6.jpg

Many times what we “want” is not what is best for us. So if we are struggling with trying to make something happen, or praying our hearts out, or pushing our Will to make it happen…it might, but to our detriment…or it doesn’t happen, and we question why, when we wanted it so much.

R5.jpg

Back up into an observer position and ask ourselves what it is we “really” want. And then put The Power of Our Will into asking for Creation and Resolution to/of what we desire that will be the best for ourselves and all.

R8.jpg

We can’t control everything, but we can have control over how we use The Power of Our Will for the Best Resolution. Remember… Directing the Will from our inner Wiser Self always guides us to the right course.

A Matter of Will ~ Repost

I wrote this blog last year, and it came up in a conversation last night, so I was prompted to post it again. May you enjoy it a second time. Blessings!

“Tis in ourselves that we are thus or thus. Our bodies are our gardens to which our wills are gardeners.”  ~ William Shakespeare

“Most of life’s actions are within our reach, but decisions take willpower.”  ~ Robert McKee

“So many of our Dreams at first seem Impossible, then they seem Improbable, and then when we summon the Will, they seem Inevitable.”  ~ Christopher Reeve

“There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of the determined soul.”  ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox

“Do or do not. There is no try.”  ~ Yoda

“The star of the unconquered will, he rises in my breast. Serene and resolute and still, and calm and self-possessed.”  ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
”When the will is ready the feet are light.”  ~ Proverb
”Nothing can withstand the power of the human will if it is willing to stake its very existence to the extent of its purpose.”  ~ Benjamin Disraeli

W4.jpg

from the Desk of MarDrag:

In the old, tattered and dog-eared pages of the worn hard cover copy of my Oxford American Dictionary that still sits on my desk (collecting dust), the definition of Will is as follows:

WILL: The mental faculty by which one deliberately chooses or decides upon a course of action: Diligent purposefulness; determination: Deliberate intention or wish: Self-control; self-discipline: A desire, purpose, or determination

Merriam Webster describes Willpower as:  energetic determination

I like all of these descriptions and definitions, my favorite being; “the mental faculty by which one deliberately chooses or decides upon a course of action.” There is also a common word in all of the definitions: determination.

If we put “deliberately chooses or decides” together with “determination”, we have the perfect characterization of the Will. And we all have one. We use it every day in fact (to different degrees), even when we don’t realize it or are not conscious of it. We use it for small things like completing tasks, or getting the hubby/wife to do something we want them to do, or big things like creating businesses or the next great invention. And we use it for all those things in between.

The thing is…we use our Will frequently, and yet, we may not give it the conscious attention, focus or acknowledgement that we should. It is what we do with our Will, or for many, don’t do, that carries us along our paths in life.

W1.jpg

If we would like to craft our lives in the fashion that we want to live, be who we desire and aspire to be, have the things we desire to have, and stop living at the affect of those things that would seem to control us….then we need to change our focus from “why?, I can’t, I don’t want to” or “I don’t know” to “I Will”. And I do not mean the “I will do such and that”. I mean the I WILL which deliberately chooses and makes the decisions of our lives and executes those decisions with determination until the result is to our satisfaction. It is a subtle yet powerful distinction. And one that can change our lives and propel us to realize our potential and that we have the power to overcome our resistance to use our Will in all its positive power.

I am not speaking of Willpower so much as the Power of the Will.

W5.jpg

Acknowledge your Will and the influence it has on your life. Then gain command of it by making deliberate choices about yourself and your life, always striving to direct your Will in a positive direction. When we practice letting go of, “Why aren’t things going my way?” to “I will direct my energy in the way I want things to go, and with a strong Will behind it”, then we empower our lives to move in the direction that we wish it to go. If we are honest with ourselves about that direction, and we make sure it is a positive direction toward perfect love and perfect trust, then we need not fear or worry about where it will lead us. Directing the Will from our inner Wiser Self always guides us to the right course on the right road. The one we are truly meant to take.

W2.jpg

Do not be afraid to acknowledge your Will. Do not be afraid to use it, but be clear, honest and good in your choices in how you use it. Choose to be empowered in the name of goodness and love, Will that you live your life in abundance and peace and that the rest of the world rise to the goodness of Will as well. A thousand Wills, and hundreds more, one by one…and we can change not only our own life, but the life of the world.

Weekend Inspiration ~ Hitting The Pause Button ~ Repost

P1.jpg

The dawn comes, splashing pink, orange, and purple streaks across the horizon. It is morning, and we are scrunched down in our beds amid the blankets and comfort, dreams frolicking in the misty gossamer threads of slumber. As images flash, the morning light deepens and throws fingers of dusty beams into the room, signaling the time to rise to the day. And then…Beep…Beep…Beep…Beep…Beep…Beep. A foreign sound breaks into our thoughts, insistent, demanding our attention…until we swing a hand over…and Hit The Pause Button.

P2.png

While this scenario may cause us to grumble as we struggle through the mists to come to wakefulness and start the day…there is something to be said about “Hitting The Pause Button”.

I have been talking about this frequently lately, so I thought I would share it here. It is a trick that is helping people to manage and get command of rampant thoughts and energy that have been difficult to manage or change as we spend this gargantuan effort to stay Balanced and Peaceful through these tough, confusing, and frightening times.

Many have told me how hard it has been to get their thoughts in control. Our minds can race and thoughts can take over, going in directions we do not wish them to, causing negative feelings and energy that is also difficult to release or manage. We can also tend to take this out on others in bursts of frustration and anger. So, it occurred to me that we need an “Internal Pause Button”. And that comes in the form of a “Pause Word”.

P3.jpg

When we catch ourselves running intense or negative dialogue in our minds, or crazy thoughts pop up and make us feel uncomfortable, or our patience runs thin and we feel like lashing out at someone or ourselves…we can hit the Pause Button with a Pause Word. Choose a word that is funny and causes a laugh, or a word that brings a smile to our lips. And when we feel our thoughts getting out of control and affecting our mood or causing an impulsive outburst…hit the Pause Word.

For me, it is Jello! Jello is wiggly and funny and cool and delicious. It reminds me of happier times as a child, making fun with friends and colorful, wiggly Jello. It makes me smile and giggle. And, it is random enough to catch my attention. So, when thoughts or stress creep in and I want to change them…I use my Pause Word and say Jello, Jello, Jello, Jello…over and over in my mind (much like the beep of a pause button on a clock), or out loud if I need to…and it breaks right into my thought pattern, stops it, and makes me laugh and smile…reminding me that I have control over my thoughts and I do not have to allow them to get to me, or influence me, or take over my mood.

P4.jpg

I have been giving this little trick to my clients this week, and they are having great success with it. So, give it a try. Once the train of thought that was making you feel bad is broken, it is easier to move your thoughts in a better direction. And it goes a long way in changing the course of your mood when your mind is saying something silly, insisting that you not take those thoughts too seriously…and move on to restore Balance and Peace in your mind with the prayer, process, or technique that works for you.

P6.jpg

Hitting the Pause Button on the clock in the morning gives us a few minutes to collect ourselves, fully waken, and prepare for rising to the day. Hitting the “Pause Word” in our minds also gives us those few minutes to take stock of our thoughts and change their direction…so that we can rise to the day and the challenges we face in a better light, a better mood, and with command of where our thoughts go and the energy they create within us and around us.

So have a good day….and Jello, Jello, Jello!

Blessings!
