When we come into this world, we are a clean palette, looking at the world with innocent eyes, and taking at face value what we see and experience every day. And, every single day is a learning experience, another opportunity to learn to talk, walk, play, and figure out which shape fits into which hole on the toy thingy. It is unfortunate that as we grow up, we are ever faced with the negative aspects of life, and, by the time we are adults, we have completely forgotten the innocence, the belief in goodness, the trust, and the wide-eyed wonder we were born with. Seek to re-discover those lost gifts, if even just a little bit. Dare to remember the wings you were born with and the belief that you could fly.

MarDrags’ Thoughts:

A few months after I started this blog, I realized I was writing about a great many deep thoughts and issues…and when I “made a joke” people laughed and found relief. So, I started the now regular Wednesday “Hump Day Humor” post…to give everyone a mid-week break. I get comments from people who share how much they needed that chuckle. I firmly believe that comic relief feeds the soul, and gives it a needed respite. As Bill Cosby says, humor softens the blows life hurls at us, and relieves some of that stress they cause. Even if circumstances in your life are hard and worrisome…find a way to find some laughter in your day and give yourself that gift. It is amazing how far a funny moment can take you!

Give it a try. Smile on purpose. Say a kind word. Open a door. Do random acts of kindness. Especially if you wake for the day in a disgruntled mood…actively do these things and see how your mood and your day changes. Most important of all…start by doing these things…to and for yourself! Smile at yourself in the mirror. You deserve a good-natured wink and a kind word. Who better to give it, than you!
