Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“For every negative experience that enters our lives, there is an equally positive experience that has or will enter our lives.” ~ MarDrag

“Try to remember this: to live, you need every experience. Some will come in glory and in beauty, and some in pain and what seems like ugliness. Life consists of opposites in balance.” ~ Marion Zimmer Bradley

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself but to your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.” ~ Marcus Aurelius

TH 2
from The Desk of MarDrag:

When searching for quotes for today, these appeared together and made a pattern I could not ignore. So I am posting them together, as they follow each other so perfectly.

Experiences…and Balance. It is what Life is made of. But, when we are going through difficult experiences, it is often hard to remember that they are just temporary and that we have equally positive experiences that happen as well. It is called the Law of Polarity, and if we can put this law into practice, it creates a greater Balance in our lives. For it is true that, for every negative experience, there is the exact opposite positive experience that has either already manifested, or is going to come to be. So, we can know that we are never stuck by our experiences…and this helps us to manage through the difficult times. And promotes a Balance that makes our lives easier to enjoy through the good times and deal with the bad times.

TH 3

So too, the last quote fits here because…those very negative experiences that cause us pain impact us by the energy and attention we give them. If we see it as a crisis, then so it is. If we see it as a mere problem to solve, then so it is, and we can get back to Balance more swiftly. As the quote indicates…it is within our own Power of Reaction to decide whether a problem is insurmountable or the level of impact it will have on us. There is no problem without a solution. It is within our Decision and Reaction that it is determined how long or with what difficulty the solution comes.

We are Deciders. Once our Decision is made, life experiences can be managed and balanced with ease. So we must Decide how we choose to look at and react to Life Experiences. And know there is Balance, even when we do not see it.

A True Life ~ Re-Post

“Let go of expectations and live the life you were destined for. Peace comes only when we are true to our soul’s nature.” ~ Unknown Author

“Do not forget that you are who you decided to be.” ~ Stephanie Cook

“The universe is a stage on which your mind dances with your body, guided by your heart.” ~ Yogi Bhajan

“The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind.” ~ Wayne Dyer

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” ~ Albert Einstein

TL 2

from The Desk of MarDrag:

It is a deep question to ask of ourselves….if we are living our True Life. And more importantly, when we ask that question, we must be completely honest with our answer within our hearts and souls. It does not mean we have to do anything with that answer immediately…just that we allow ourselves to consider the idea.

TL 1

I said in previous posts how important I believe it is becoming to strive to be our authentic selves. To add that positive energy to the world to help balance all the lies and negative energy that abounds. Thoughts, words and actions have Power, so by living our true lives and fulfilling our true purpose, no matter what it is, we contribute to that balance. And the world is terribly out of balance and in trouble right now. Consider that, by changing your life, you change the world too.

Contemplate and ponder the totality and accumulation of your life experiences, for they have led you to this moment. What happens to us is part of our destiny and imperative to our understanding that they lead us to where we are meant to be. Without that, we have no direction. We would meander through life not knowing where we are going or why we are not getting there….or even that there is a There.

TL 4
We all have a “greater story” than the life story we are living at this moment…unless you are already living your true purpose. Even then, the path grows further. But…with all the difficulties we endure, all the stress we bear, all the negative we tolerate…and even the good things that are a part of our life…..we still have a greater story being woven into that Great Tapestry. And there is a magnificent glow that awaits us when we choose to take up our Torch of Destiny.

TL 3

Let go. Don’t resist. Let life come to you. Don’t force life, or a door to open. Stand before it and ask if it is the right door. If it is….it will open for you. If it is not, another door nearby will hear you and open to show you the way. Maybe not your way, but the way that is best for you. Sometimes, “my way” is not what is meant to be, but the way that comes turns out to be the “Best” way.

Is there something that has been on your mind that you have always wanted to do, but never did because “life” got in the way? Is there something you started but never finished? Is there a flame of thought that you think might serve people but never fanned it because you think it/ you are not good enough? Is there something you have always “known” about yourself, but never took the time to explore and cultivate it? What was it as a child that you yearned to grow up and be? What did you think your life passion was then, and now? What is that one thing that you are sure you are so good at, but don’t choose to do?

These are a few questions to help you ponder…this is the stuff of epiphanies and realizations…..and they can lead us to where we are meant to go. To that True Life we are meant to live. And, to the self-happiness and the betterment of the world should we choose to go….There.

Monday Message ~ Flexibility

Good morning…to the start of another week. For our Monday Message that takes us through the week, the Angel Cards by Kathy Taylor reached out to me today and an interesting one comes to my hand:

Flex Card 1

Angel Card: Flexibility

from The Desk of MarDrag:

I find this an interesting card to pull this morning, mostly because it is a message that is not always apparent. When dealing with life’s ups and downs, we may often forget about Flexibility as an option. We have our visions, and the pictures in our minds about what we want and how we want it. And we may forget to be Flexible in our thinking, so that if something does not turn out as we imagined, we can still see the benefits of the result.

Flex 1

I love words, so let’s look at the standard definition of Flexibility:
(from the Oxford American and Merriam Webster Dictionaries)

a: the quality of bending easily without breaking; the ability to be easily modified; willingness to change or compromise.
b: easily changed : able to change or to do different things; willing to change or to try different things
c: Capable of being bent or flexed; pliable; Capable of being bent repeatedly without injury or damage

So the message here today is…Be Flexible, and open to new ideas and ways of doing things and the possibilities of results. There are always more options and variables than the ones we are looking at in the moment. Be willing to try different things to reach our goal. And, while keeping our original vision clear, be open to something better or different to happen.

Flex 3

And, if something we are doing is not working…be Flexible enough to step out of the box and do something we would not normally do to achieve our purpose. Life requires that we grow. If we stay in the same place for too long, and especially if things are not working for us in that place, than we need to be Flexible and try something new. Or be Flexible in our thoughts and ideas.

Flex 5

It is the great Tree of Life that bends and sways when a mighty wind comes…and its branches may touch and scrape the ground at times…but when the winds change, it flows back to its original state of upright beauty and continues to grow.

Remember…we are built to bend, sway, change, and grow…but never to break. For we are Spiritual Warriors, mighty and strong, and we have the power within us to be Flexible.

Weekend Inspiration~ Love Life

Life 2

The message for our weekend is simple. Love Life. I know…Life is hard these days. We are dealing with so many variables and difficulties and aspects we did not anticipate. But…this is Our Life. Troubles, warts and all…this is the only Life we get (maybe!) and we are meant to enjoy it, to savor each moment, and to pour something wonderful and magical into each day. So, no matter what is raging around us…still shine our Light, Live with Love, and Love our Life.

Today…Live that Life with Love and Blessings. Make your day…and someone else’s. Live. Love. Shine!

Friday Poetry ~ Searching

I was going through some very old boxes of writing and papers and came upon some very early poetry of mine. This little piece was written in 1997 as I began my spiritual journey. I hope you enjoy it. Blessings!

Poem 1

I take to the streets of my soul
Laboring over cobblestones of the past
Ducking in doorways
Listening for sounds
Or footsteps
Looking for the flicker of a light
Searching for the key
That will open that which is closed in me

Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“You are your own worst enemy. If you can learn to stop expecting impossible perfection, in yourself and others, you may find the happiness that has always eluded you.” ~ Lisa Kleypas

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

We are hard on ourselves. And so, hard on others too, when we expect Perfection. If we can accept that Perfection is an illusion constructed to hide imperfections, then perhaps we can allow the winds of change to blow away that illusion to reveal that…no one and nothing is ever Perfect. AND YET…we are all Perfect…just as we are. Because all that we have gone through has led us here to this moment, and at this moment, we have choices about where we go next and how we react to those choices. If we stop trying to Be Perfect…we will find Perfection in our Imperfectness. Be that Perfect Imperfect You.

TH 2

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” ~ Leo Buscaglia

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

We touch each other’s lives, every day, in ways that we are often unaware of. A smile here, a touch there…can help change a person’s day in remarkable and wonderful ways. There is such Power in Kindness. Be aware of that today…and be Kind. You never know how much that may touch someone and change their life. And…begin that Kindness…with yourself!

TH 3

“Today expect something good to happen to you no matter what occurred yesterday. Realize the past no longer holds you captive. It can only continue to hurt you if you hold on to it. Let the past go. A simply abundant world awaits.” ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Today is a new day…full of Possibility and Opportunity. It matters not what happened yesterday…let it go. For there are a plethora of chances for something else wonderful to happen today. Start the day believing something Magical is about to happen…and it will.

The Art of The Unknown

“When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for you to stand upon or you will be taught to fly.” ~ Patrick Overton

“How can you know what you’re capable of if you don’t embrace the unkown?” ~ Esmerelda Santiago

“When facing a void, or the unknown – see not the emptiness, but the possibilities of what it can be filled with or what can be created.” ~ MarDrag

Unknown 3

from The Desk of MarDrag:

In yesterday’s blog, “Magic Comes”, the message spoke of the void and the mystery and power of the Unknown. I had actually wanted to write on this topic, and this seemed the perfect time. Because Magic comes from the void, the Great Mystery, where forces are at work that we are not always aware of, but those forces aid in what we want to create in our lives.

You see, we are conditioned to fear what we do not know…or what we cannot see. But…Why? What is it about the Unknown that makes us tremble with apprehension? Or an assumption that the Unknown is some terrible thing we have to fear.

Unknown 1

In our current culture, there are so many ways to find out every detail about what we want to know…and it is good to be informed, certainly. But the fallacy here is…is that, even with all of that information, we cannot predict the Unknown. The possibilities for change are always present. I feel that we often set ourselves up for disappointment by trying to “know” everything, and then things do not turn out as we had thought. No matter how informed we are, we cannot possibly predict or anticipate exactly what might occur.

And so, there is that word that leads us to fear of the Unknown…Anticipation. We vibrate with Anticipation when facing a void or the Unknown…and we call that fear. But…what if that Anticipation could be the vibration that carries us beyond the threshold of the Known into the Unknown without trepidation. Let it be the bridge that we find our footsteps landing solidly on to support us as we navigate through the Unknown. And let that bridge be the support of our Power and Intention.

And too, the Unknown is only not known until we know it.

The idea that I am trying to articulate here is…the Unknown is not so much to feared as to be Anticipated with excitement and eager Hope. As long as we don’t know what is to come…there is a plethora of possibilities that it will be wonderful and not dreadful. Or…importantly…that we can Change the current circumstances before the Unknown appears, rather than be paralyzed into inaction by fear.

Unknown 2

The Void, the Great Mystery, The Unknown tends to be seen in a cloud of anxiety, alarm, and panic. Which affects our well-being and can affect the outcome. So…what if we change our approach to the Unknown. What if we color that Anticipation with exhilaration and an eagerness to find out what comes next. What if it is marvelous, and we used up all our energy and time on worrying? And what if that causes us to miss our opportunity to use the Magic that sparks from the Unknown?

Be not afraid of the Unknown until you know there is something to fear. Until then…delight in the idea that …not Knowing opens a vast range of possibility and opportunity…and that is Magical.

Monday Message ~ Magic Comes

Good Morning! It is the start of another week, and for some, a start after a long holiday weekend. So here we are, looking for our Monday Message of Wisdom to carry us through the week and help us along. For today’s message, I turn to the animal kingdom and pull out my medicine cards, “The Discovery Of Power Through The Ways of Animals” by Jamie Sams and David Carson. It is a wonderful message that comes this morning through the card that came to hand:

R 1

Raven: Magic! Open yourself to miracles. Use new eyes. Believe in Magic. Embrace life’s wonders.

Message (paraphrased): “Throughout time, Raven has carried the medicine of Magic. This has been true in many cultures across the planet. It is sacred to honor Raven as the bringer of Magic.

Raven is a powerful medicine that can give you the courage to enter the darkness of the void, which is the home of all that is not yet in form. The void is called The Great Mystery.

If Raven has appeared in the cards, you are about to experience a change in consciousness. A signal brought by the Raven says, “You have earned the right to see and experience more of life’s Magic.” Raven’s color is the color of the void, the black hole in space that holds all the energy of the creative source. Black can mean the seeking of answers, the void, or the road of the spiritual or nonphysical. The blue-black of Raven contains an iridescence that speaks of the Magic of darkness, and a changeability of form, and shape that brings an awakening in the process.

If you have chosen Raven today, Magic is in the air. Do not try to figure it out; you cannot. It is the power of the unknown at work, and something special is about to happen. The deeper mystery, however, is how you will respond to the sparkling synchronicity of this alchemical moment. Will you recognize it and use it to further enhance your growth? Can you accept it as a gift from the Great Spirit? Or will you limit the power of the Great Mystery by explaining it away?

Remember, this Magic moment came from the void of darkness, and the challenge is to bring it to the Light. In doing so, you will have honored the Magician within.”

R 5

from The Desk of MarDrag:

What a message to start the week with! Magic is in the air! This is an unexpected message this morning, but a welcome one. I think we can all agree that lately, times have been a bit dark and full of struggles. When we experience a time like that, we often forget that there is another side to things, to life. We can forget that there are other forces at work around us, and that, by the universal Law of Polarity, there is the other side, the exact opposite of Darkness, the Light. We forget that miracles, or Magic, CAN happen, and so we close our eyes and hearts to them, and plod along.

The message from Raven tells us this morning that all of that “plodding along” and all the work we have done on ourselves to be our best Self, has accumulated and built into a force that brings the Light of Magic into our lives. It really DOES count, and now we may reap what we have sown. And now comes the Awakening.

Raven’s message speaks of the Void, where darkness contains the answers and creative energy we seek. You see…we are conditioned to believe that the darkness of the void means it is empty. But the truth is, the void is full of energy and power where change can take shape before it is brought into the Light.

This looks more like deep space

A Raven’s feathers, upon first look, appear to be just black. But if we look closer, there is an iridescent shimmer to those black feathers that belies the Light held within the darkness of those feathers. They gleam with shimmers of gloss and colors and brightness. So too, the Void may look all bleak and dark…but within is held the promise of the polarity of Light…and herein lies the Magic. Would we see it for what it truly is…or would we only scan the surface and turn away from what it “looks” like.

R 2

Hearken the message of the Raven…and know that Magic is afoot. Notice details, look deeper, look beyond what you think is before you. Know that from the Darkness comes Light, and the force of Change of Form. We have the Magic within us to change anything…for we are Magicians…and have the Power to change the form of our lives.

R 3

Know today that, out of the Darkness of the Great Mystery crackles the energy of Magic. Let us take that into our week, knowing that our hard work has come to fruition and brought the gift of Magic to us. Now…what WILL we do with it?
