Monday Message ~ The Self

Good Monday Morning! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend enjoying the summer. For our Monday Message , I turn to the Rune’s today for the nugget of wisdom we will take with us into the week. As I draw “The Book of Runes” by Ralph Blum to me and plunge into the bag of stones, the Rune that comes to hand is:

M 1

Mannaz: “The Self”

Message (paraphrased): “The starting point is always with the Self. The essence is water. Only clarity, willingness to change, is effective now. A correct relationship to yourself is primary, for from it flows all possible correct relationships with others and with the Divine.

Remain modest – that is the Rune’s counsel. Regardless of how great may be your merit, be yielding, devoted and moderate, for then you have true direction for your way of life.

Be in the world but not of it. That is implicit here. And yet, do not be closed, narrow or judging. Remain receptive to impulses flowing from the Divine within and without. Strive to live the ordinary life in a non-ordinary way. Remember at all times what is coming to be and passing away, and focus on that which abides. This is the time of major growth and rectification and, as a rule, rectification must come before progress.

This is not a time to seek credit for accomplishments or to focus on results. Rather, be content to do your task for the tasks sake. This is more of a problem for those whose eyes are always on the goal than it is for those who have not forgotten how to play and can more easily lose themselves in doing the work, for its own sake. Herein lies the secret of experiencing a true present.

Balancing is called for now – the Self is required to balance the Self. Nothing in excess. Know thyself.”

M 2

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Of all the struggles we have in life, the greatest struggle is always with the Self. We have so many aspects of life that influence our thoughts and behavior, that we are constantly dialoguing with ourselves about what, when, who, how, and why. What Mannaz is telling us today is…that all of that “stuff” is not as important as the cultivating of the relationship of the Self to the Self. That should be our primary focus…because if our relationship to our Self is healthy and in Balance…then all else flows from that relationship, and flows “rightly”.

We are conditioned to think that if we just had “this”, or if “that’ would just happen, we would be content. With that as our focus, we are always looking outside and ahead of ourselves for something to make everything “right”. But that is a fallacy…for nothing can make us happy, content, and balanced…but ourselves and our relationship with our Self.

M 3

Mannaz says, “Be in the world, but not of it”…meaning…seek to know thyself with clarity and willingness to change and progress. Learn from the world around us, but do not become embedded in its confusion. Rise above the mundane and nurture the relationship with the Divine…whatever that means to us. Because it is there that we will find the answers we seek and the contentment too. And most importantly…the Balance. (Take on the task to connect or reconnect with our Spiritual exploration and work to aid us).

And finally…take on this task, and any task in life, for the tasks sake and not for the goal. It is in the doing the task that enlightenment and accomplishment comes…the goal is the reward. It is in focusing and being in the moment with our tasks that we experience the true feeling of being present in our lives…and we will not miss important clues and messages.

So the message today is…be present in every moment of every day, take life tasks on for the sake of the task and what we learn from it and how we accomplish it, and most of all…seek to cultivate, clarify, and focus on our relationship to the Self, which leads us to the Divine and Balance so that we can live our best life. Which is what we, ultimately, all seek.

Weekend Inspiration ~ Life Force

LF 14

Life Force…that spark of fire and energy that lives at the Core of our being. From where Strength, Courage, Vitality, and Peace of Mind flows. Our Life Force can take many hits in a day, and it can become depleted when we face difficulties, or even just managing the negative energy that filters through the world right now. But…just like our Core Self, our Core Strength…our spark of Life Force never goes out. It is that thing that will always burn inside us…but is up to us to fan into a brilliant fire. Today, let us focus on replenishing our Life Force. Do what feeds our souls today, our Life Force. And know that, no matter how tough things get…the flame of our Life Force can never be vanquished. Let us Feel our Life Force, see it vibrate and grow, and flow through us, reminding us we are Empowered in our lives and we can rise above…anything.

Each of us has a Life Force that is Unique, Individual, and Special…there is no other like it…and it is an Important Force in the world. Without it, the Universal Fire would be missing a Valuable Flame.

Here is some inspiration to help us draw that Life Force up in full bloom. And may it be a wonderful weekend for all! Blessings!

Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“When we focus on leading a passionate, meaningful life, we are also inadvertently creating a spectacular ripple effect of inspiration in the lives around us. When one person follows a dream, tries something new, or takes a daring leap, everyone nearby feels their passionate energy; and before too long, they are making their own daring leaps while simultaneously inspiring others.” ~ Author Unknown

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

What we do, the actions we take, and how we choose to live our lives…inspires other people. Many times, we may not even know it has happened…but I would bet that every day, by living our True Life and True Self…we touch other people and inspire them, or cause them to look at their own lives and make a change. Think about that. We could be a beacon of Light for someone, just by Being Ourselves and following our path. Dare to leap…and change…and while doing so…inspiring others to do the same. What a dream…to have everyone living their dream!

TH 2

“When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you, but because in that brief moment when the coin is in the air, you suddenly know what you are hoping for.” ~ Cormac McCarthy

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

I love this quote because it speaks to something I have written about here on the blog…that moment between circumstance and choice of action…that second really…that hangs there so briefly between what has happened and how we will react to it. In that split second, we have the power of choice. And, we also know what the best choice is…whether we go on to choose it or not, we know. In the coin toss, as that coin flings and flips in the air…we know which way we want it to land. And that is Our Truth…to live by.

TH 3

“Even in the darkest of night there is hope. As the moon lights our path so does hope light our way.” ~ Author Unknown

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

A gentle reminder…to never give up Hope. We Link By the Light of Our Souls with Hope…and are united. We are never alone when we Hope. We all share that…together. Know there is Support, Love, and Hope here for you.

How Great Our Power ~ Re-Post

PP 1

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” ~ Alice Walker

“Personal power is the ability to stand on your own two feet with a smile on your face in the middle of a universe that contains a million ways to crush you.” ~ J.Z. Colby

“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.” ~ Buddha

“Most powerful is he who has himself in his own power.” ~ Seneca

“By banishing doubt and trusting your intuitive feelings, you clear a space for the power of intention to flow through.” ~ Wayne Dyer

“But that’s the challenge – to change the circumstance more than it changes you.” ~ Michael Pollan

PP 2

from the Desk of MarDrag:

This has been a difficult couple of weeks for everyone. I have spoken to so many who are discouraged with the daily news…and with their lives…and are questioning how we can possibly overcome the negative energy sweeping our world. They are questioning the strength of their Power…and whether it makes a difference at all. They ask if they should even keep trying. Blue moods and fatigue are overwhelming. I feel their pain and worry, and my heart goes out to each and every one. If I could take all this away, I would. Gladly.

But, since that is not possible, what I will try to do is bolster you, shore you up with words of support and encouragement. I will be a buoy for you to hold on to, a prop for you to lean on, and help bear your load until you are stronger. I will reinforce for you the truth that you are greater than you think you are at this moment, that you do have a wealth of might and vigor to draw upon, even if you don’t see it or feel it right now. It does not mean it is not inside you. You just have to tap the well a little deeper.

But the one thing I want to do most for you…is to remind you that…your Personal Power is greater than anything circumstances can throw at you! The mountains before you may look high…but your Power is bigger, taller and far more supreme than any situation the Universe has put in your path. Will we let those circumstances best us? Or rise up to draw on and utilize our Power as it was meant to be used…as it was given to us. Use your Power to change how you feel about the circumstance even if it is not ready to change in the physical. Stand up to it, collect your energy, and wrap it back around you. It will sustain you. If you give it Power. Don’t give your Power away to the mountain, feeding it to make it bigger. Stand in the face of that mountain and show it how big your Power is. It won’t dare face you down. It will shrink to perspective in the shadow of your authority.

PP 4

We must live everyday as our True Self and shine our Power and Light into the world…even if we are not sure of its affect. We cannot give in…at some point, we will start to recover. And it will be because we did not give up, and that we stood as Spiritual Warriors and refused to allow our Power to diminish for any reason. If we all do this, we can Link By The Light of Our Souls…and that will be a force to behold! Live in the Strength of your Power!

Monday Message ~ Hope

Hope 8

“Walk on with hope in your heart, and you’ll never walk alone” ~ Author Unknown

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend filled with thoughts of “Being Enough” (see previous post). In thinking about what I would write today for our Monday Message, I was looking for inspiration. My beautiful daughter spent the day with me yesterday, and I asked her to share her wisdom with me and tell me what message she thought people needed to hear to take into this week…and her answer was HOPE. People need Hope mom, she said. People need to know there is something worth it for holding on in this crazy, unsettling time.

I pondered on that, and agreed, that Hope was the thing we all need to hold close to our hearts and souls now. For our individual lives, and for the whole world. So I send all of us into this week with the message of Hope to cling to…with the knowledge that…it is the one thing we ALL share in. We are all united in Hope. We are never alone when we Hope because it is a universal thing that we all carry with us every day.

So raise up your thoughts of Hope today and know that you join together with many others in that ray of Hope…and feel the Love and Comfort from that. For, if there is Hope, there is Everything Possible.

Weekend Inspiration ~ Being Enough

We have busy, stressful, jam-packed lives these days, with many tasks and obligations. There is so much more opportunity for judgment, of ourselves and of others. We can get overwhelmed trying to keep up, and feel like we are not doing enough, accomplishing enough, we are not smart enough or “fill in the blank” enough. And certainly, we can all do “better”, strive to grow and learn and achieve more. BUT…what about this moment we occupy, and the beauty of its possibilities. AND…what about all the progress we have made in our lives, all the efforts and sacrifices and work we do to keep moving forward, or sometimes, just to keep moving.

In this world, everyone is striving for “the next best thing”…but what about now? In this moment, can we be Enough? In this moment, can we allow ourselves to be content with who we are, what we have done, and where we look to the future? Because…if we can’t see ourselves as Enough, right now just as we are, then we will never be content with where we are going.

Today…practice knowing you are Enough. Lay down those judgments and negative thoughts about what you haven’t done or accomplished…and just Be Enough. Know that you are a whole, vibrant, amazing soul…just as you are. We can all be greater than we are…but we are the greatest if we recognize that, in this moment, no matter what anyone else thinks…we are Enough. Blessings!

Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“A river is victoriously persistent, overcoming all barriers. For a while it goes steadily on its course, but then comes to an obstacle. And for a while it is blocked, yet it soon makes a pathway around the obstacle. Or a river will drop out of sight for miles, only later to emerge again even broader and greater than ever… Never focus your eyes on the obstacle or the difficulty.” ~ Oswald Chambers

TH 2

“Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles, but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next.” ~ Ben Carson

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Both of these quotes are about Obstacles. I love the first one…because it so eloquently points out that…the flow of a river never stops, or never runs out. It may have to weave around barriers, or overcome obstacles, and it may even disappear for a stretch…but its persistent waters will always find their path again. Like we humans. We are ever resilient…as the river…so take that reflection and live by it. Do not fence yourself in with your fears. Use those hurdles and obstacles to make you stronger.

Our reaction to, and our attitude towards obstacles and barriers is THE thing that determines whether we get stuck or flow on.

TH 3

“But what is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?” ~ Albert Camus

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

No matter where you are, how you live, or what circumstances you face…seek to be in Harmony with them. That is…do not fight with your life…fight to find Harmony with it. It is when we flow with our life rather than against it that we can find a way to Happiness, even through the difficulties.

The Core Of Our Strength

Core 9

“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” ~ Marcus Aurelius

“Courage isn’t having the strength to go on – it is going on when you don’t have strength.” ~ Napoleon

“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” ~ Corrie Boom

“Don’t be afraid of your fears. They’re not there to scare you. They’re there to let you know that something is worth it.” ~ C. JoyBell C.

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Core 7
from The Desk of MarDrag:

This is a very unsettled and tough time we are going through. There is much in our own lives to handle, and the view of world events is troubling. We are all trying to carve out a corner of this world for ourselves, to follow our dreams and passions, and to find happiness and peace. It has not been easy, and I am hearing a great deal about how tired and discouraged many of us are. So, today’s post speaks to this…and it is the deepest desire of my heart and soul that these words will help in some small way.

I titled the blog “The Core Of Our Strength” because I want to talk about where Strength comes from. We hear that word bandied about a lot. It is written about, and told to us with good intentions, to help us remember how Strong we are and that we can get through anything, if we just believe in our Strength. But, when we feel discouraged, we may wonder where to gather that Strength, as it seems we may run out of it.

But…you see…we never will run out of it.

Why? Because Strength comes from our Core, our most inner Self. That Core place, that Center, that houses all the things we need to manage our life.

Core 1

And at our Core…is our Spiritual Warrior…our Warrior Energy (that yesterday’s blog spoke of). This is that Core, that place so deep down inside us that there is no end to it. Our Core is like the Core of the Earth…forever burning bright, hot, and full of Power and Energy. It is the layers of worry, doubt, and fear that we throw on top of our Core Strength that dampens the flame.

The one thing that is always steady, always there, and always exactly what it is…is our Core Self, our True Self, our Inner Warrior…that never changes and never gives up. Even as circumstances can change around us…and we can change our minds, or our thoughts, or our behavior…our Core Self stays steadfast. And that is to be celebrated.

This is why it is so important, especially now, to get in touch with our True Self, our Core Self…and cultivate it. Acknowledge it, and hear the truth that Self has to tell us. It is THE ONE thing we can ALWAYS count on…the steady heartbeat of our Core Self, our Core Strength. It never leaves us. Our Core Self will never abandon us, or run out of Strength. It is built in to us, for the purpose of holding us steady. That is what a Core does…it holds what is around it steady. It is the foundation, the rock solid axis on which we spin. So…our Core Strength can never forsake us…and we should trust it and rely on it. Believe in it…and believe in ourselves.

Core 3Core 2

In the Core of an apple are the seeds from which it grows. So too, the seeds of what we want to grow in our lives are within us, at our Core…where the soil of Strength keeps them protected and nurtured. Reach in, reach down deep and find those seeds. Find the flame of that Core Self, that Core Strength, and bring it to the surface. Look at these illustrations of the apple and the Earth and see yourself in the reflection. You are whole, like the globe and the fruit, with a Core inside that holds you stable and secure. Know that. Believe it. See it. And let your Strength flow through, replenishing and sparking your motivation.

Core 4

The Wheel IS turning. Have Hope and Faith. Love and Be Loved. And strike your best Warrior pose in Strength.
