Wednesday ~ “Getting Over The Hump Day” Humor

Good Morning, Good Morning! It IS that day again…and with this crazy week…I bet all of you are looking for a bit of comic relief and a good laugh. I have some great ones today…but I must begin with a special funny:

When I saw this cartoon, I laughed all the way to my toes. You see. when my (adult) daughter was about 5 years old, we were having dinner when, of course, she came to the vegetable portion of her meal. Suddenly, she was not hungry anymore, she told me with as straight a face as she could. So, I replied to her that, if she was too full to eat her vegetables that meant she was certainly too full for dessert. That little curly haired brilliant 5 year old turned to me with the most earnest look on her face and said…but mom, it is my dinner compartment that is full, my dessert compartment is still empty so I can still have that. I wanted to laugh so hard, but contained myself. However, I had no good argument back…and they say to pick your battles…so the girl won out on that one. (Payback for the “gumball machine incident” little one! YOU know!) Anyway, I had to share this and the cartoon because since then I had never heard anyone other than my daughter refer to the “stomach compartments”. Does this work on Weight Watchers? 🙂 Have a Happy! Blessings!

Tuesday Affirmations ~ Logic and Intuition

I have not done an Affirmation Tuesday post for a while, and the cards were calling me this morning, so I took them in my hands, pressed them against my flesh to warm them, and asked them what piece of wisdom they would have us know this day. I shuffled the deck of “Gifts of Affirmations” by Amy Zerner and Monte Fraber and the card that came before me was:

TA 4

Gift of Compassion: “I Blend Intuition and Logic To Guide My Decisions”

Message: “Use this gift when you are having trouble making decisions. Usually, relying completely on either logic or intuition will not produce the most beneficial decisions. Assemble the facts and then review them as you ask the small voice of your intuition to guide you through feelings and hunches. If you are still unsure, it may be best not to decide yet.”

TA 1

from The Desk of MarDrag:

This is a wonderful affirmation to follow the post from yesterday about Taking Action. That post spoke about needing to make Decisions and then Take Action, that now is the time. But, we often do not make Decisions because we are unsure what to consider, how to follow through, or what we really want in some cases.

So, if Action is being called for, we should look at the circumstances and facts…organize them and consider the importance of each one. Then bring it all together within us and ask our Inner Voice of Intuition to guide us in making our Decision. We really do have a Wise Self, a Wise Voice in there…and it will answer us and guide us in the right direction. Trust that voice. Even if it tells us now is not the time, and waiting is still upon us.

TA 3

As the affirmation says…we should use both Logic and Intuition to form our Decision and make our choices. They are meant to work together, and offer the best of both worlds. It is this Balance that leads us to operate by Right Action in our lives…that is…by what is Right for us, truly Right.

TA 2

Consider Taking Action…and use Logic and Intuition to aide you in making the Decision that will lead you to Right Action.

Monday Message ~ Take Action

Good Monday Morning! We begin another week and our march full on into Spring. It was such a beautiful weekend that the animal kingdom called to me this morning for our message of wisdom to start our week. As I shuffle through the cards, one falls from the deck, and I turn to my book “Medicine Cards, The Discovery of Power Through The Ways of Animals” by Jamie Sams and David Carson. The animal who presented itself to share its wisdom with us today is:

Action 5

Antelope: “Take Action, Time To Respond, No Procrastinating, Decide and Do It Now”

Message (paraphrased): “Antelope is an animal much revered and honored by Native American tribes. Because Antelope taught the tribes a valuable lesson. He taught them to take action. When they were cold and hungry, Antelope taught them to take action to care for themselves, even if that meant he sacrificed his own life for that lesson. It was all part of the greater Mystery of Life.

Antelope’s lesson for us today is…to Take Action. Antelope taught humans to honor the gifts sent from Great Spirit. Antelope signifies knowledgeable action, and the knowledge of life’s circle. Antelope also indicates a message of Higher Purpose. The only way to know what that is, is to start listening to your inner voice, and take action.

Antelope may also be telling you that a Decision to start is now necessary. The main element to procrastination is lack of conviction. To honor your chosen destiny is to honor your commitment to what you “proclaim” you are doing. Walk your talk. Have the desire to do something, make the firm decision to do something, then do it.

Antelope says, “Do it now! Don’t wait any longer.” Take courage, your sense of timing is perfect. When Antelope has bounded into your cards, the time is Now. The Power is You.”

Action 3

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Well…I think the message is clear here…yes?

If there is something you have always wanted to do, if you have been considering a change, if you have a passion for something, if you question your Life’s Purpose and need to ponder on that, if you need to take better care of yourself…any and all of the above and more…then Begin by making a Decision to do something, anything, start somewhere…and then Do It. Making the Decision is the first, and very important step. But…a Decision with no Action behind it, leads us nowhere.

Action 4

Even if there are sacrifices to make, it will all balance out. The thing is…is to start somewhere…even if we are not exactly sure where to start…start with something. Listen to that Inner Voice, the good one!, and listen for the messages. And then…Take Action. Movement always leads us to somewhere, and most of the time it is where we are supposed to go, or at the very least, somewhere we can learn more about where we are supposed to go.

Action 2

Also, there must be something about this “Timing”. Which sometimes is everything. The text above says…”Take Courage, your sense of Timing is perfect”. That should mean a lot to us because it tells us we can Trust ourselves about this Action we need to take. Great Inspiration for getting started on what may be the most important Decision on our Paths. What will you Decide?

Action 1

Take Action! You have the Power! Go ahead…Do It!

Weekend Inspiration ~ Laughter

Laugh 15

They say Laughter is the best medicine…and I believe that to be true. And the quote on Thursday’s “Thoughts For The Day” post tells us to, “Do handstands. Dance. Bound up a hill. Sing with your child. Write something with a light and lifted heart. Be love, and compassion, and joy. Live life just for fun.” ~ Leo Babauta. So, let us listen to these messages and take them into our weekend. No matter what is going on in our lives, being Happy is a choice…so go out and find something to Laugh about today. Forget our troubles for a while, and give ourselves the gift of humor to relieve our stress and let our Spirits soar on the wings of mirth. It is our Purpose, to enjoy this Life…so here…I will get us started…and may your day be full of Light, Laughter and Love. Blessings to You!

Friday Poetry ~ Absentminded Me

Am 3

Sometimes I forget
Where I put my glasses
Or what I was going to say
Just walking from one room to another
Sometimes I forget
What your schedule is
This week
Or that last hard to find item
On the grocery list
And sometimes I’ll bring something up
That’s better left forgotten
I may not be my best
All the time

But, I will remember that
Birthdays are important to you
What size shoe you wear
Or that your back was hurting today
And you need a massage
I will remember not to tease you
And just how you like your shirts folded
Your way
And I will remember to tell you
I love you even more
For listening to me ramble
And for your gift of loving
Absentminded Me

Thoughts For The Day

TH 1

“Happy is the man who has broken the chains which hurt the mind, and has given up worrying once and for all.” ~ Ovid

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

I have written a lot about letting go of Worry…and how it really has no valid purpose. Worry does not solve anything, It does not make us feel better…it can’t cook, or sew, or think, or work, or caretake, or fix things. It is virtually useless! We cannot depend on Worry for anything. So why do we give it so much time and energy? Cast it off and break those chains, we must. We have the Power to do that. Worry only has the Power we give it. Pffft…Worry is such a wimp.

TH 2

“Too often we visit the well of divine abundance with a teacup instead of a bucket.” ~ Elinor MacDonald

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Too often, we limit ourselves. Why? Because we think we are unworthy of all that we desire. So we say…if I only had this, I would be happy…or, please, just send me that, and I will be ok. But the Higher Powers, God, The Universe (or by whatever name you aspire to) keep telling us we can and do deserve to have it all. And sadly, we still do not believe. But if all the teachings are true…and there is unlimited divine abundance and enough for everyone…then let’s grab our buckets and fill them up. What have we got to lose? Let us open our hearts to everything, because the only one who questions our worthiness, is we ourselves.

TH 3

“Do handstands. Dance. Bound up a hill. Sing with your child. Write something with a light and lifted heart. Be love, and compassion, and joy. Live life just for fun.” ~ Leo Babauta

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

This made me Giggle. And Giggles are good…so I posted it for you all today…so you could have a Giggle too. Now…go Dance and Sing and Love and Live…just for Fun. After all, that is the true reason we are here!

Now, The Gift of The Present

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” ~ Mother Theresa

“Real generosity towards the future lies in giving all to the present.” ~ Albert Camus

“It’s being here now that’s important. There’s no past and there’s no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is, ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can’t relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don’t know if there is one.” ~ George Harrison

“You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking how you’ll escape one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.” ~ John Green

“All that is important is this one moment in movement. Make the moment important, vital, and worth living. Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused.” ~ Martha Graham

Past 1

from The Desk of MarDrag:

The Past, the Present, and the Future…the three time continuums that take up all our thought and energy on a daily basis. The time frames that fill up our experiences, our thoughts, emotions and souls. We rejoice or have regrets about the Past, we enjoy or worry about the Present, and we have hopes and plans for the Future. But, what about our energy and focus? Where do we put that stream, that flow and how does that affect our quality of life and our progress on the path of our Destiny and Life’s True Purpose? How much does the direction of that focus effect where the strands of our complex and gorgeous tapestries are placed and who/what/when they intertwine with?

We can spend so much time and energy agonizing over the Past and feeling remorse, shame or guilt over things that we did or did not do or goals we did not reach. Energy spent. We worry, struggle and suffer over the Present and which direction to take or what decision to make or try to force things to happen when really, we are confused about what it is that we truly want. Energy spent. And, we obsess about the Future, trying to plan, anticipate, control and guess about what will happen or what we think we want to happen. Energy spent.

Past 2

So, think of this, what of this current moment? What of the immediate Present…that gift that we are given to experience and delight in? Or learn from and choose from. As John Green says above, we live in the Present lamenting the Past and imagining the Future will be so much better, but we do not see the Present for what it is. Today, this moment…there is nothing like it and never will be. This moment will never come again, and we must remind ourselves to become aware of that, to spend each gift of a moment as if there will never be another, because, in all truth, there will not. And how would we spend that moment in the Now…regretting the Past and looking for the Future? How insignificant and irrelevant that must make the Present feel!

What if we took all the energy we spent mourning the Past and looking to the Future…and spent that energy on the Present? How much more of our life might we know if we spent all that energy here…in the Now? How better would we recognize our Destiny, discover our Life’s Purpose and gather the right Direction if we put that energy in the Now?

Past 3

Consider this…all the moments of all our experiences of the Past and all the hopes of our Future collide in this one moment of the Present. It is ALL here Now! Because we have it so, in our minds.

So, if we can accept everything in our lives that resides in the Present…that is, recognize that the sum of all we were and will be is what we are Now…then we can find some peace within ourselves and go quiet, and allow the Wiser Voices within us and of the Higher Powers to guide us in our next move. We must accept the Present in order to move away from the Past and into the Future. It is what it is for a reason…and we have made it so. Whatever is happening in our lives Now, good or bad, it is indeed happening. Once we truly accept this, we can move on.

Past 4

Think about where you would have your stream of energy and focus flow. Think about those strands of your tapestry and where you would have them placed. It would be a tangled skein to have them placed in the Past as they try to draw the picture of the Present while imagining what they will look like in the Future.

The Present is a gift and the potential and possibilities are endless, if we choose to spend our valued time there. Our Destinies require it, our Life’s Purpose is waiting for our attention, and the Direction is to the Now.

Past 5

Monday Message ~ Compassion

Good Morning! In keeping with our tradition here, to seek guidance and wisdom for a message to begin our week with…I turned to my set of “Angel Cards” by Kathy Taylor and Joy Drake to see what message they had for us today. As I closed my eyes and ran my hands through the cards, the one that surfaced and stuck to my fingers was:

I long ago lost the book that went with these cards, but it is not difficult to ascertain the message this one is sending us today. The world, and many of those in it, have turned hard. There are so many who judge, ridicule, and hate…too many…and it seems that Compassion and Kindness have been put in the background. So too, when we forget to have Compassion for others, we forget to have it for ourselves…and it creates a pattern that is not easy to change. We have to actively desire to change this pattern…and that begins with ourselves.

Compassion 4

Today, let us carry this word Compassion in our minds. Carry its meaning in our hearts. And let it work through us in action. Begin by looking in the mirror and letting our Self know we have Compassion for our own paths and the trials set forth on that path, the struggles we overcome to continue on that path, and then endeavor to show ourselves Kindness and Gentleness, nurture ourselves with Love and Understanding…for we are Warriors trying to make a difference and find some Happiness to live too. We deserve to show ourselves Compassion, rather than judgment, fear, or disappointment. Our paths are what they are for a reason.

Compassion 2

So too, are the paths of others. So we are called to take that Compassion out into the world and Shine it brightly. Look to our neighbor, co-worker, stranger…and know they have their story too, their road strewn with pebbles obstacles too. And as we share that Compassion with others, it grows within us, and spreads out like a great lovely mist, sprinkling sweet gentle energy over us and others to balance and transform those negative energies that would think they have the power.

Let us show them just how powerful Compassion can be…and change the world, our world, a bit today.

Compassion 3

My own heart reaches out to All of you, in deep Compassion as you manage your life and path. I know it is not always easy, and sometimes downright painful…but know you make a difference in this world…simply by being you. So I turn my heart toward you and let my Compassion flow to you. May it envelope you in a warm, loving embrace of nurturing and support.

Weekend Inspiration ~ Purpose

LP 4

We are all unique individuals, with our own unique characters, gifts, skills, and spirits. And, we are perfect in who we are. We are who we are for a reason. The gifts we each possess are part of us for a reason. And, each and every one of us…are here on this Earth…for a reason. We have something to give, to share, that completes the complex tapestry of the Universe. We each have a special place that is meant just for us. We each…have a Purpose. And the main Purpose…is to give our lives Purpose. No matter what we do every day…give it Purpose. To know that every step we take, every emotion we feel, every task we work, every hug we give, every smile we give…everything we do, think, and feel contributes to the energy and function of the Universe. We are an integral thread in completing the weave of the tapestry of Life…and without each thread, without each one of us…the World would not be the same.

You are important…and so is your Purpose. Even if for today that Purpose is but to smile and change someones day. So, live today with Purpose…and seek to find your Life Purpose, for without you, a Light in the darkness would not be seen…and we need your Light. Shine the Light of Purpose…just by being You. Blessings!
