Weekend Inspiration ~ Change

Change 11

Change…it is the one thing in life we can count on, it is the one constant that will…never Change. Whether we ask for it or not, Change will always be present in our lives. Sometimes it comes unexpected, and we must rally with strength to manage it. Or, at times, Change comes and it is good and we welcome it. We also, many times, ask and plead for Change, but we forget to consider the road to the Change we ask for, and we are surprised by circumstances and ask, why is this happening? Sometimes Change is confusing, and we do not understand it. The thing is…Change is always good because it leads us further on our path, it challenges us to look close at how we live our lives and if we are living our Truth. The only way to get to the other side of a Change…is to go through it. So, embrace Change…and flow through it with Grace…and see where it leads you. Blessings!

Thought For The Day ~ Alone

Alone 1

by Maya Angelou

“Lying, thinking, Last night, How to find my soul a home, Where water is not thirsty, And bread loaf is not stone, I came up with one thing, And I don’t believe I’m wrong, That nobody, But nobody, Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone, Nobody, but nobody, Can make it out here alone.

There are some millionaires, With money they can’t use, Their wives run round like banshees, Their children sing the blues, They’ve got expensive doctors, To cure their hearts of stone, But nobody, No, nobody, Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone, Nobody, but nobody, Can make it out here alone.

Now if you listen closely, I’ll tell you what I know, Storm clouds are gathering, The wind is gonna blow, The race of man is suffering, And I can hear the moan, ‘Cause nobody, But nobody, Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone, Nobody, but nobody, Can make it out here alone.”

Alone 5

from the Desk of MarDrag:

If you are feeling Alone or lonely…take comfort here. It seems that so many are going through rough times these days, and even with people around, or support, one can still feel isolated…or as if there is no one just for them, no one to hold a hand, or lend an ear, a shoulder, just for them.

But the poem above says, no one can make it out here alone…and so, let us gather round each other and hold hands, and hearts in hands, and let each other know without a doubt that no one has to be alone…no one has to go through it alone.

Alone 4

Reach out, whether it is to embrace someone…or ask for an embrace…Reach Out. You never know how much you might touch someone’s life with a smile or a kind word. It could make all the difference. It just may be the cushion someone needs to land softly in their day.

So, let my hand join yours as I reach out to help strengthen that cushion and tell you…from my whole heart to yours….

Alone 3

Let me know if I can help.

Happy Wednesday! And Welcome back to your weekly neighborhood Funny Farm, “where life is beautiful all the time, and I’ll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats, and they’re coming to take me away! Do You Believe In Magic ~ Repost

I have wanted to repost this post for awhile now, as I have seen in my stats that so many people are searching it out and reading it daily. It is a tough world out there…and we cannot let go of or forget that there is still Magic to be had…mystical things that light up life and guide us…things beyond what we see right before our eyes. It must be, for the alternative is bleak. So, keep that magic alive within you and in your world. And let it spread to light your life and the lives of others. Blessings!

Magic 6

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.” ~ Ronald Dahl

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” ~ W.B. Yeats

“Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there’s no actual magic in it, but when you know what you hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic.” ~ Laini Taylor

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.” ~ J.M. Barrie

“Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live.” ~ Nora Roberts

“Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.” ~ Goethe

“That’s the thing about magic; you’ve got to know it’s still here, all around us, or it just stays invisible for you.” ~ Charles de Lint

Magic 2

from the Desk of MarDrag:

Do you believe in Magic? Do you believe there is energy around us, pulsing and moving and creating? Do you believe in the Magic of Belief? Or the Magic of Love…or the Magic of the Heart and the Mind?

I think, that in this chaotic and sometimes distressing world, we can lose sight of the Magic that exists, that Magic we believed in and saw in the world around us, as a child. That Magic that we created our dreams with. A child sees with unclouded eyes, with innocence that what it sees is undoubtedly true and real, even in their imagination. That is how dreams are born and manifest. As we grow and experience more of the world, and its harshness, we lose so much of that innocence and ability to believe that there IS Magic all around us and that we can have it in our lives. If we just recognize it as we look at the Magic of Nature. Or listen to the Magic of Music. Or feel the Magic of falling in love.

magic 7

But, there is also the Magic of Will, of Belief, of the Heart and of the Glowing Light within us that helps us create the life that we so desire. Or Will a solution to a problem to manifest. Or have the conviction that something we desire will come to us. Or even just the Magic of a Smile, to lighten someone’s day.

Today, if even just for a moment, look around you and see if you can spot a bit of Magic and focus on that, draw it to you, feel the tingle of that something that is outside all practical thought. Just for a bit, open that part of yourself that dares to see past the severity of life to the enchantment and charm of possibilities when you tap into the Magic of Life. It is there. That glittering sense that there is so much more to what we see than what we see.

Magic 3

Magic is everywhere…don’t forget to look. And when you look…Believe in what you see. And when you Believe…amazing things will happen.

“I do believe in an everyday sort of magic — the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we’re alone.” ~ Charles de Lint

Monday Message ~ Go With The Flow

Good Monday Morning! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the Spring weather and holiday. In preparing for today’s weekly message, the Runes called to me this time. So I held the velvet bag that contains the stones in my warm hands and asked what message they would impart for us to follow this week. As I pulled “The Book of Runes” by Ralph Blum close, the Rune that fell into my palm was:

Laguz: Flow, Water, That Which Conducts

Message (paraphrased): Unseen powers are active here, creative and fertile powers of Nature. The attributes of this Rune are water, fluidity, the ebb and flow of tides and emotions, of careers and relationships. Laguz fulfills our need to immerse ourselves in the experience of living without having to evaluate or understand. It speaks to the desire for comfort and the satisfaction of emotional needs, to the lunar side of our nature. For, while the sun strives for differentiation, the moon draws us toward unity and merging.

This Rune often signals a time for cleansing: for revaluing, reorganizing, realigning. A Rune of deep knowing, Laguz may call you to study spiritual matters in readiness for self-transformation. Success now lies in contacting your intuitive knowing, in attuning to your own rhythms. A Rune of the Self relating rightly to the Self, Laguz signifies what alchemists called the conjunctio, or sacred marriage. In fairy tales, it is the end where the hero and heroine live happily ever after”.

Flow 1

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Go with the Flow. We have all heard that phrase, often! And sometimes it is not as easy as others to follow its advice. But Laguz is telling us today that, no matter what circumstances may look like, go with the Flow of what is happening. There are unseen powers and energies at work around us that help contribute to where our paths take us. It is these forces that are active when we are creating, or working to create something in our lives…a new job, a projects success, manifesting a relationship, maintaining our current path. Our job is to keep to our spiritual work on ourselves, evaluate what we think we really want from life, and stay in touch with our intuition and our own rhythms to help guide us to self-transformation.

The Flow of life is much like the flow of a river…there is a current our lives ride along on our path. The river twists and turns, and sometimes has to find a way over rocks and pebbles and obstacles…but it always trickles through and polishes those rocks until they are smooth and the Flow can resume its natural path.

Mist at Tone River

So, if there are obstacles in the way, go with the Flow, and it will work itself out, naturally. We cannot push the river. It Flows at its own pace, as our lives have their pace too, and we must trust our paths, our rivers, the nature of our Flow, to instinctively know its direction. Sometimes we understand the direction, but sometimes it is not as clear until we reach the bend that takes us in that direction. It is not always possible to understand why things happen the way they do. So, we must Trust our Self and our path…and go with the Flow.

Friday Poetry ~ Portland

I was going through some old poetry this past week…letting my fingers wander through the pages as my mind swirled and wandered through the memories. So many life moments captured in these lettered words, on white paper now faded and tinged with yellow…their energy lifting off the page in a cloud of nostalgia. I breathed it in, and let my thoughts flow and wrap around me as I succumbed, and stepped out of time for a moment, and whirled and dipped and floated on those delicious memories. One stood out in its clarity, and so I share the poem here today. I remember exactly where I was sitting when I wrote this…at a bay window in my little apartment in an old Victorian house. My very first place on my own, having moved by myself to this city that had called me to its heart. It will always be my home, for it is where I found myself, for the first time. A dear city, I will return to. Someday. Enjoy! Blessings!

PO 2

Portland, Oregon

Oh, I so love the dusk in wintertime
As darkness slowly spills over the city
Lofty clouds hang heavy with rain
Over the lush full trees
As birds chatter one last time from their branches
Lights appear, shimmering in the sleek damp air
And disappear again
As they roll across Broadway Bridge in the distance
And a quiet hush sits about the air, as if
The city is holding its breath
In anticipation of the coming night

I sit suspended in those last moments of dusk
Suspended as if hanging on a thread of time
Captured in the spell of a winters eve
In Portland, the city of my heart

Thoughts For The Day

TH 2

“F.E.A.R. has two meanings:
Forget Everything And Run –Or- Face Everything And Rise” ~ Author Unknown

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

This quote is brilliant. We always have a choice whether we listen to Fear and let it limit us, or whether we vanquish its false voice and overcome it. Fear is another of those emotions that only has as much power as we give it. So, do we Run or Rise?

TH 3

“Why do you want to shut out of your life any uneasiness, any misery, since after all you don’t know what work these conditions are doing inside you? Why do you want to persecute yourself with the question of where all this is coming from and where it is going? Since you know, after all, that you are in the midst of transitions and you wished for nothing so much as to change.” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

How often do we think of change…and ask for it, at times beg for it. But we do not consider the path on the way to change, and what it might bring. We cannot just snap our fingers and magically be changed. We have to go through the process…which sometimes brings discomfort. And then we lament and ask why is this happening and where will it take me. When we were the ones who asked for change in the first place. We must be willing to walk the road of change and embrace the transition it requires for us to get to where we want to go. And thus…it becomes even more important to be as sure as possible about the decisions we make and the changes we ask for.

TH 1

“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.” ~ Alan Alda

MarDrag’s Thoughts:

Sometimes in the wilderness of our journey the path is not quite clear, or we struggle with doubts because we cannot always see the way distinctly. But, if we choose to trust our Intuition, that inner wiser voice, then the confidence in our choices grows stronger and we have even more proof that our Intuition leads us always in the right direction. We must be brave in the wilderness of our Intuition and listen to its voice, because it will always lead us out of the dark scary places and into Right Action.
