Commitment To Self

“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred…unforeseen incidents, meetings, and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Commit 1

from The Desk of MarDrag:

I posted this quote on last Thursday’s “Thoughts For The Day” blog, and since then, I have repeated it many times and expounded on its message. I have not been able to get it off my mind…and so…I am called to write about it again and further the message.

As I pondered the quote, meditated on it and asked for expansion on its message, several things came to me. The first was the concept of Commitment To Self to begin with. We spend a great deal of our energy making commitments to all other things around us…family, work, obligations, things we do not want to do but do anyway…but how often do we consciously make commitments to ourselves? Do we put the same time, effort and energy into obligations to ourselves…or to the choices and decisions that we make?

Commit Choice

The quote above says, “the moment one definitely commits to oneself, then Providence moves too”. Reading this over and over, the absolute truth of it came clear, and it occurred to me that, it is an important concept we might be leaving out of our life process.

It occurred to me that, when we make a choice, if we are not sure of it, or commit 100% to that choice, that we automatically leave a space open for it not to work. We pray for things, ask for things to happen, make choices, make decisions, but if we do not commit to believing in the possibility of them coming to us, or in the energy at work around them…then how can they possibly manifest?

Commit 3

If we would believe that the Higher Powers, the Universe, wants to give us what we want…if we are not sure of that, or committed to our choices, they cannot give it. If we are one day thinking “yes”, and the next thinking “no” or “not sure”…or worse, giving up on the choice before it has time to form…then those Higher Powers are looking at a virtual ping pong ball…and all they see is confusion…not certainty. And what is not certain cannot manifest. And then, we become disappointed and despondent and stop making choices altogether. Sending us into a whirlpool of confusion and misery.

Commit 2

Yesterday’s post was about using this holding pattern time to explore our deeper selves, our shadow sides, to look within and mend what is not right with our True Self. By doing this…we will clear away that which keeps us from KNOWING what we truly want to choose for ourselves, our true paths, and with that, we can then make a clear and concise commitment to our choices…because they will come from the depth of our souls and will be the best for us. And it is then that Providence begins to work…and all manner of things happen to support that choice. Once the commitment is there…the choice can be supported and unexpected things come about to make it happen.

Commit DecisionCommit to the search of your soul…Commit to working out whatever is holding you back…Commit to doing what is best for you…and Commit to the choices that result from that work. It is from that Commitment that what is right for you will manifest…and where Happiness and Fulfillment derive.
