Happy New Year!

2013 Happy New Year

“Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, Whispering ‘it will be happier’…”  ~ Lord Alfred Tennyson

“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”  ~ Oprah Winfrey

“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.”  ~ Brad Paisley

“A New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.”  ~ Author Unknown

“Approach the New Year with resolve to find the opportunities hidden in each new day.”  ~ Michael Josephson

from the Desk of MarDrag:

Here we are….about to embark on a new adventure! Another New Year. Let us take all the difficulties, hardships, and lessons…as well as the blessings, gifts and beautiful moments of the past year, roll them all into one huge ball that we ignite into a flame that burns through, sending the vapors into the air to disperse. Let us embrace the brilliant moments we have had, as we grasp the lessons we have learned and make it all part of us, so that, as we step into the New Year, we step into it a whole and better person, a being whose Light has grown and flourished, and is ready to shine ever brighter….dazzling the world, ready to make that world a better place too.

The only resolution we need to keep is the one that promises to honor the growth we have had and not to forget the sacrifices that were made along that path.

This New Year…ignite the beauty of your Power and your Light. Make your life better with it….and send it out into the world to kindle the Love, Light, and Good Energy and Intentions we need to make the changes necessary to make it a triumphant year.

My wish for all of you…is that all Your dreams come true this year, and that you find the gifts of your Strength and Power within you, and Recognize the Beauty of who you truly are.

Soar Into the New Year my friends!! Love & Blessings!

2013 Soar Into New Year

A Bit About Fear

Someone quite close to me has a life issue with Fear, so I took to my “Affirmation Cards” (by Amy Zerner & Monte Farber) to see what message I could find to help her with this issue. Many people experience this, and have a problem allowing fear to command their life and decisions. It can keep a person from having a full life or making decisions that need to be made.

The card I pulled about this is:

“Gift of Compassion ~ I Use My Fears As Signs That Guide And Protect Me”

The message is: “Use this gift when your fears prevent you from acting in your best interest. Our fears exist to help keep us safe from harm and from repeating mistakes we have made. If we seek to understand why we are afraid, we can make fear our friend and helper, not our master. It is important to avoid fearing success and the many changes it will bring.”

So, fear is a two-sided coin. On one side, fear is our helper. It keeps us safe from harm and lets us know when something is in our path that we should stay away from, or alerts us to danger or harm. It also helps us to remember past mistakes that we are “afraid” to make again, and if we listen, we make better choices and decisions because of that fear.

But, there is the other side of the coin of fear also. That fear debilitates us if we allow it to. That fear can take command of our lives and cause us to shut down and stop living the life we are meant to live, and enjoy. It can keep us from new experiences, growing, and having loving people in our lives. It can also, as the affirmation says, keep us from moving forward to success and the changes being successful can bring. You have heard the saying…it is easier to be a failure than to fear success.

You have also heard, I am sure, the saying that the only thing to really fear is fear itself. And I do believe this is true. So, if we seek to understand what we fear and why we fear, then we can either release it and let it go, or master it, so we can function in spite of it…rather than allowing it to master us.

The thing is, fear is inside of us, so we have created it. And, if we create something, we can “uncreate” it. Knowledge is power, so if we gain knowledge about our fears, then they become less powerful, (as our power grows), and they have less and less impact. In addition, those things we fear “will happen” most of the time don’t happen….and we have spent all that energy on the fear instead of on taking action, or on being happy.

So, ask yourself this question….what purpose does fear have in my life? Write it down, make a list of pros and cons (like a two-sided coin). Writing brings clarity, and a list will show you what to keep and what to discard. Draw a line through the fears that do not serve you. Put the list somewhere you can see it and, when you feel a fear taking command, look to the list to see if it is one that helps you. If it is not, and it has a line through it, remind yourself you have crossed that one “off your list” and discarded it….and it has no power over you anymore. And let it go. The more you do this, the more your mind will retrain itself to recognize a healthy fear, or one that keeps you hindered in your life, and soon, you will not be controlled by it any longer. YOU will have the control back.

Seek to be the Mistress/Master of your life and all things in your mind and heart. You are the commander…..steer yourself in the right direction!

The Aftermath

“The nutcracker sits under the holiday tree, a guardian of childhood stories. Feed him walnuts and he will crack open a tale…”  ~ Vera Nazarian

“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree:  the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.”  ~ Burton Hillis

“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.”  ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder

“One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day.  Don’t clean it up too quickly.”  ~ Andy Rooney

“I think holidays create so much pressure because people feel they should be having a good time.”  ~ Craig Ferguson

“I felt overstuffed and dull and disappointed, the way I always do the day after Christmas, as if whatever it was the pine boughs and the candles and the silver and gilt-ribboned presents and the birch-log fires and the Christmas turkey and the carols at the piano promised never came to pass.”  ~ Sylvia Plath

“It came without ribbons!  It came without tags!  It came without packages, boxes or bags!”… Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before!  “Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store.  Maybe Christmas… perhaps… means a little bit more!”  ~ Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

“There are no strangers on Christmas Eve.”  ~Mildred Cram and Adele Comandini

“The earth has grown old with its burden of care. But at Christmas it always is young….”  ~ Phillips Brooks

“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!”  ~ Hamilton Wright Mabie

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Well, here we are, it is Dec 26th, or by the time this is posted, Dec. 27th. No matter the date, it is “the days after Christmas” when all our efforts of the past weeks and the special day have been channeled and spent. This is such a special time of year when, as the quotes say above, “our hearts grow tender with memories” and open to embrace all mankind as “there are no strangers on Christmas eve”. The frantic pace has dimmed, the food was good and the laughter merry, and we bask in the afterglow of goodwill and satisfaction that a good time was had by all.

But so too, are there quotes above that speak to the other tender moments that can be felt, of sadder memories or sorrowful hearts, where pain may be buried in the stocking that is hung on the hearth. For some, the holidays bring distress and prickly thoughts, frosted with guilt for not being as happy as the season holds we should be. Joy can be elusive for some during the holidays, or the stress of putting it all together in less than desirable circumstances (and family) can take the pleasure away, and dim the sparkle of the lights that should make our hearts glow.

But, deep down in those hearts…is a tiny spark. It is there, in everyone. And, it is ours for us to cherish. It is our nugget of wishes and dreams of holiday gaiety that only we know about and harbor in that corner of our heart that holds the fragment of a childlike quality that is so delicate as we enfold it in gentle embrace. It is part of us, a prize to be treasured. Hold it there, and light a candle to it, to shed some light on it, if even for a moment.

For those whose holiday was brilliant and radiant and sparkled, oh my!……so wonderful for you and your family whose memories, both past and to be created, bring such joy, as they should. Shine that light as bright as the north star and revel in it, for it is to be cherished. May you continue to be Blessed throughout the year.

And for those whose season comes harder….look within, into that little corner of your heart where that tiny spark burns, and grasp it, look deeply into that flame and let yourself delight in the vision, let it warm your soul. For it is there to remind you that, no matter what things look like outside you……..within, you will always have the perfect holiday.

So much Love, so many Warm Thoughts, and so much Light is sent to you all!

The Process Post

What a week this has been! So much is happening in the world, and in each of our own individual worlds. Every day it seems there is something else to tap our already low reserves of energy. And, we have to put together a brilliant Christmas. We are all struggling a bit to stretch that energy, and some of you have shared you are overwhelmed and dispirited and need a way of refreshing. So here is the process I told you about that will help with revitalizing your energy.

I would bet that some of you would like to get away about now. Take a few days and go to an island, or a mountain somewhere, relax, and have some alone time. But, for most, that is not possible. So, I would like to tell you about a wonderful place that you can go to “get away” any day of the week or any hour of the day. There is no packing, or driving to the airport, or long car rides. In fact, you don’t have to go anywhere except to your favorite comfortable chair!

This place is called, Your Sacred Space, and it is within you. You are the only vessel you need.

Everyone has this Sacred Space within them. It is the place at the very center, the very core, of your being. All things have a center, and we are no different. We have a place that is the very nucleus of our being, the hub from where all of who we are spirals from, the essence, the soul, the spirit of ourselves that creates the foundation from which we operate. It is the place that has within it everything we need to become centered and balanced again. Because…it is the center of our being….and is also connected to the Divine light of God or whatever Higher Power you aspire to. But, amid the stress and craziness of our lives, we forget that it is there, and this process will be the reminder you need.

So, get to that comfortable chair. Take just a few mins. for yourself to complete this. Once you have your Sacred Space set up, you can access it any time.

Now, in your chair, sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take a few long deep breaths and clear your mind as much as possible. Then, visualize a spot in your body that is the center point of your being. In that spot, you picture a room. It is a lovely room furnished exactly the way you would like it. See the colors you would have in it, the furniture or pillows, textures or objects, or anything you would like to fill the room. The thing is to make the room up with all your favorite things that give you comfort. This is your space to be alone.

When you have your room finished, see a circle surrounding it. Within that circle is your space and energy only. Visualize all the things, people, and worries in your life being set outside the circle….thus clearing the space right around you. Know that you are not pushing anything away, or avoiding anything, you will deal with it all….but for this moment, it is out of your immediate space…so you can breathe. For this moment, it is outside your personal Sacred Space.

Now, notice the air and energy directly around you. Fill this space with your energy only, with love, with healing, with peace, with vigor, confidence and wisdom, with strength, knowledge and power. These are all the things you have inside you that get trampled by all the other things you just set outside the circle. Feel the relief to reconnect with it all…and see your light begin to shine again as the Divine light shines on you from above and illuminates your Sacred Space. Here is the essence of your identity, where you get back in control of yourself and bring your personal power back into your daily life. It is the place you come to get centered, and take a break from the external forces in your life. Here there is strength, courage and empowerment to draw on, and where you will find your balance and your focus again. Here you are also safe and protected, and feel completely comfortable with yourself.

Once you have your Sacred Space set up and filled up exactly the way you want it….commit it to memory, and know that this place is available to you at any time, at a moments notice, and that you will find just what you need here to get balanced, centered and focused. Then, take a few more deep breaths and open your eyes, feeling relieved and confident that you can face whatever your day has ahead for you.

Use this process anytime you feel overwhelmed, overworked, confused, unsure or anything that is not in harmony. You can even invite your Wiser Self to come here with you to talk and find answers together. Create a loving relationship with yourself here. It is the best you’ll ever have!

P.S. If any of you need more information or help with this, please do not hesitate to reach me at the email address on the “Contact” page above. You can also find out more about me and the work I do on the “About” page next to the contact page.

UPDATE ~ How Great Your Power

Good Morning Sweet Friends! In this blog yesterday, I promised you a process to help you stay balanced and centered in a new post today….but it did not get written up. I had some unexpected guests yesterday and obligation took my time away. I’m sorry 😦  BUT, I am writing it up today and will post it either later this evening or tomorrow morning. So check back for that something that will help you navigate not only these days ahead, but going forward in your life.

Have a lovely day, remember how powerful you are, and see you later! Blessings!

“Personal power is the ability to stand on your own two feet with a smile on your face in the middle of a universe that contains a million ways to crush you.”  ~ J.Z. Colby

“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.”  ~ Buddha

“Most powerful is he who has himself in his own power.”  ~ Seneca

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”  ~ Alice Walker

“By banishing doubt and trusting your intuitive feelings, you clear a space for the power of intention to flow through.”  ~ Wayne Dyer

“If it can be thought, it can be done, a problem can be overcome.”  ~ E. A. Bucchianeri

“But that’s the challenge – to change the circumstance more than it changes you.”  ~ Michael Pollan

from the Desk of MarDrag:

This has been a difficult week for everyone…for many different reasons. Most especially, the tragedy in Newtown, CT is weighing heavily on all our minds and hearts as the victims are laid to rest, one by one, yet so many. It is hard to think about finding any joy in the holiday ahead…..and we may feel guilty for even looking forward to Christmas, when so many are in pain. As if this was not enough, we each have our own personal lives and trials that we are attempting to manage, also while trying to prepare a happy holiday for our loved ones. It is overwhelming, and many of you on the blog have expressed your blue moods and fatigue. And my heart goes out to each and every one of you. I feel your pain. If I could take it away and relieve you, I would. Gladly.

But, since that is not possible, what I will try to do is bolster you, shore you up with words of support and encouragement. I will be a buoy for you to hold on to, a prop for you to lean on, and help bear your load until you are stronger. I will reinforce for you the truth that you are greater than you think you are at this moment, that you do have a wealth of might and vigor to draw upon, even if you don’t see it or feel it right now. It does not mean it is not inside you. You just have to tap the well a little deeper.

But the one thing I want to do most for you…is to remind you that…..your Personal Power is greater than anything your circumstances can throw at you! The mountains before you may look high….but your Power is bigger, taller and far more supreme than any situation the Universe has put in your path. Will we let those circumstances best us? Or rise up to draw on and utilize our Power as it was meant to be used…..as it was given to us. Use your Power to change how you feel about the circumstance even if it is not ready to change in the physical. Stand up to it, collect your energy, and wrap it back around you. It will sustain you. If you give it Power. Don’t give your Power away to the mountain, feeding it to make it bigger. Stand in the face of that mountain and show it how big your Power is. It won’t dare face you down. It will shrink to perspective in the shadow of your authority.

Stay with it. Let your Wiser Self take the wheel. Take long rejuvenating deep breaths. And take a moment when you can to close your eyes and just BE. Let everything else slip away, just for a moment, and give yourself the gift of peace, if just for that moment.

So too, I have a wonderful process to help you maintain and sustain your energy that some of you have asked for. I will be putting it up in Friday’s blog (tomorrow). So check back here for a brilliant way to help yourself stay balanced and centered, and keep those mountains in perspective, through the days ahead. It is from my heart to yours. Now, I send warm thoughts to wrap you in and comfort you. Until tomorrow……..

Love & Blessings!

Wednesday Comfort Blog!

Good Morning! You all know on Wednesday’s I usually do a humor blog with jokes and pictures, but this week, as I was looking through them, it didn’t seem right to go there. It felt too soon. Next week, we will try again.

This week, I thought we could all use a bit of comfort. And what gives more comfort than our loving furry friends. I had saved these pictures a while ago but had not used them yet, so I thought filling the post up today with love, fur and sweet faces was timely. (Click on the pic to get a bigger view).

I hope you find comfort and smiles here today. Love & Blessings!

Dazzle The World With Your Light

Shining Light Through

Everyone has a light within their soul that shines. It is connected to the Universal light, the Divine light, the God light, the Goddess light, the Earth light, the Celestial light….it reflects and is a reflection of The Light….however you define it for yourself. The thing is…..we are full of light….we shimmer with it…and if we look deeply, we can see the glow of that light that sparkles within us, warms us, and illuminates our beauty.

Shining Light Love

We need to focus our attention on this light now more than ever, bring it forward and let it shine upon this world. Let the light gleam from your heart. Dazzle the world with your unique radiance. Let it stream over your loved ones, friends, neighbors and into every corner of the world. Direct that beam of stunning love and compassion as you go about every day, and let it illuminate the gloom and glitter in the shadows. It WILL make a difference, in your life and universal life. We need your light to shine so….
