Monday Message ~ Rune ~ Harvest

Good Monday Morning! This week, we consult the Runes for our weekly message. And so, with my well-used, tattered and worn “Book of Runes” by Ralph Blum before me, I tumble the stones in their bag until one finds its way to my palm. The Rune that shows itself for us today is:

J 1

Jera ~ “Harvest, Fertile Season, One Year”

Message (paraphrased): “A Rune of beneficial outcomes, Jera applies to any activity or endeavor to which you are committed. Receiving this Rune encourages you to keep your spirits up. Be aware, however, that no quick results can be expected. A span of time always is involved, a full cycle of time before the reaping, the Harvest or deliverance.

You have prepared the ground and planted the seed. Now you must cultivate with care. To those whose labor has a long season, Jera offers encouragement of success. Know that the outcome is in the keeping of Providence and continue to persevere.

Remember the farmer who was so eager to assist his crops that he went out at night and tugged on the new shoots. There is no way to push the river; equally you cannot hasten the Harvest. Be mindful that patience is essential for the recognition of your own process which, in its season, leads to the Harvest of the Self.”

J 5

from The Desk of MarDrag:

This is a perfect Rune to come across our Monday Message as we enter the season of the Harvest. The colors are beginning to change to their vibrant oranges, yellows, and browns. The air is getting a bit crisp, and leaves are crunching under warm (but cute) winter boots.

The season of the Harvest, when all we have planted and nurtured is gathered and sorted. Some of the Harvest we keep, while other things that did not turn out, or grow right, or deliver growth are put in the compost pile to grow rich in another form.

And still, there is the element of time we must cultivate with care, because some Harvests just cannot be rushed. We cannot pull the shoots from the ground before they have fully grown. If this is a concept in your life, relax, and allow the Harvest to flow in the way it is meant to for you. Be patient with your growth.

J 3

Above all, Jera sends us encouragement. If we persevere, cultivate our lives and allow them to grow like the shoots in our garden…in their own right time…then our season of the Harvest will be Abundant.

Rune For A Monday ~ Improvement

Good Monday Morning! For a couple of days now, I have had a niggling message in the back of my mind to seek a message from the Runes again to start our week. I do love the wisdom in the messages the Runes bring…and am happy to share them with you. As I jumble the stones in their velvet bag, plunge my hand in and choose one…I take to “The Book of Runes” by Ralph Blum for its meaning. The Rune that has come forward is:

Ehwaz 1

Ehwaz: Movement, Progress, A Horse

Message (paraphrased): “Ehwaz is a Rune of transit, transition and movement; of physical shifts, new dwelling places, new attitudes, or new life. It also signifies movement in the sense of improving or bettering any situation.

There is about this Rune a sense of gradual development and steady progress, with the accompanying notion of slow growth through numerous shifts and changes. This could apply to the growth of a business or to the development of an idea. A relationship also needs to undergo changes and transformations if it is to maintain growth and life. Persevering steadfastness is called for here.

Let it be said this way, “As I cultivate my own nature, all else follows”. The Rune is saying, you have progressed far enough to feel a measure of safety. It is time to turn again and face the future reassured and prepared to share the good fortune that comes. Illuminate all things with your Light.”

Ehwaz 2

from The Desk of MarDrag:

So, there is progress! Whew! For those experiencing difficulties, delays and setbacks…this is a welcome message.

The energy of the past few weeks has been, in short, brutal. We have all had to stretch ourselves to the seeming end…way out of our comfort zones…to handle that energy, and to try to create and draw in solutions and resolutions to the issues that energy has brought with it. This Rune is saying we have made progress…great progress…and we can now turn away from the battle and look back to the future. And we should know that…because of our hard work, diligence, determination, and perseverance…we can reap the benefits of our work now, and look to situations getting better and improving. We made it.

Ehwaz 3Though there may have been unwanted, or many shifts and changes, slow growth produces gradual development…and so sometimes our path calls for patience and steadfastness until the movement comes. And it does, and is always timely. These days, we are wont to have quick remedies, but they do not always come that way, and we must be patient yet steady. Believing all the while that change will, indeed, come for us.

Ehwaz 5Just as the flower begins as a seed, must break through the soil and grow from a scrawny stem…through gradual progress, it gains strength and beauty, and eventually grows into a lovely bloom. But it cannot rush its growth. So too, are we this way.

Cutaway of a seedling growing in dirt, profiled against white,The quote, “As I cultivate my own nature, all else follows”, is a profound statement, and so true. I believe, as we work on ourselves, seek our True Nature and True Life Purpose, and live within our Individual Truth…all things come clear and into form. We do not always “see” what is taking shape, but if we Trust, we know that movement and shaping is happening all the time, and so, we will never be stuck at one place forever. As we cultivate our own natures, all that is meant for us will come to us and come clear.

Ehwaz 7So, take a deep breath! And know progress is upon us…and we are better for it. Look to improvements in your life this week. A welcome change!

Rune For A Monday

Welcome to Monday Morning! It was a rough weekend…so I take to my Runes and “The Book of Runes” by Ralph Blum to see what message and pearl of wisdom they have for us to begin our week. The Rune that came to my hand is:

Berkana 1

Berkana: Growth, Rebirth, A Birch Tree

Message (paraphrased): “The Rune of life process, Berkana denotes that form of fertility which promotes growth both symbolically and actually. The growth may occur in family matters, one’s relationship to one’s self, or the relationship with the Divine. This is a “leading to” Rune, in that it leads to blossoming and ripening.

What is called for here is going into things deeply, with care and awareness. In this action, be gentle, penetrating, and pervasive.

First, disperse resistance, then accomplish the work. For this to happen, your will must be clear and controlled. In regard to the issue, your motives must be correct. Any dark corners should be cleansed; this must be carried out diligently and sometimes with expert help. Modesty, patience, fairness and generosity are called for here. Once resistance is dispersed and rectification carried out and seen to hold firm, then, through steadfastness and right attitude, the blossoming can occur.”

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Well, not surprisingly, this is not the easiest of Runes. But its message is timely and profound. It tells us that, the good news in all that is happening is that growth is present and moving. That is a good thing to know and to hold on to as we move through this tense time. It also assures us that the hard work we are doing is going to “lead us” to a blossoming and ripening from that growth. It helps to know that! Just as the mighty oak begins as a seed, so do our greatest accomplishments.  The growth can, at times, be painful and stressful, but there is that promise of blossoming at the end of it.

Berkana 2 Growth

So…while we must go deeper still into the issues and the understanding of them, it is important to remember to be gentle with ourselves. Though we must penetrate the depths to have the level of growth we are looking for, we should not be hard on ourselves or stand in judgment of what we are going through. We must be accepting and compassionate with ourselves, for we are working hard and deserve a soft cushion to fall on.

Berkana 3 Resistance

The last message this Rune has is difficult, yet paramount to growth. We must let go of resistance to the issue and the growth it promotes. Resistance builds a wall that makes it harder to get through. And we do not need anything to make our path more difficult than it is. Resistance can be hard to let go of…but it is necessary. We should look to any dark corners and cleanse them. Examine our motives for doing this work in the first place and make sure they are honest and clear…within ourselves.

And then…stay with it. Persevere, hold firm, and get through it. We must try to keep a positive attitude in that we take this as an opportunity to move past the issue, grow, and blossom. We should not give up. Just when it feels the hardest and that we would give up…that is when we should persevere and push through. It is at that moment that the breakthrough occurs. And it is through that steadfastness…when we realize just how Powerful we really are…that the blossoming happens…and we see what a Magnificent being we really are. We are that blossom on the vine that conquered the depths of the earth beneath us, shot through the surface, raised our bud toward the sun, flourished…and grew into a lovely, fragrant flower.

Message For A Monday

Good Monday Morning! Last week was a tough week for everyone. I heard over and over about difficulties and life issues arising. It can be overwhelming and uncomfortable. Though we know that, by the Law of Polarity, nothing stays the same and there is an equal opposite to the energy going on…meaning that for every low moment there is an equal high moment coming…it is still stressful going through the low moments. So, I took to my Book of Runes by Ralph Blum this morning for some guidance on how to proceed this week. And, guess what they had to say? The Rune I pulled was…

Nauthiz Rune

Nauthiz ~ Constraint, Necessity, Pain

Message (paraphrased):  “This is a difficult Rune. The necessity of dealing with severe constraint is its lesson. Its positive aspects represent the limitations we directly cause ourselves; its negative side attracts limitations from people around us. Both are equally difficult to handle. The role of Nauthiz is to identify our “shadow” areas, places where growth was stunted, resulting in weaknesses we project negatively onto others. Try not to take this world personally, this Rune is saying. Work with the shadow, examine what inside you magnetizes misfortune into your life. When at last you can look upon those with a smile, you will recognize the troubles, denials and setbacks of life as your guides, teachers and developers.

The need for restraint is unquestionable here. This Rune puts you on notice that there are holdups, so consider your plans carefully. And remember, your dissatisfactions are not unreasonable…there is work to be done on yourself. Take it on with good will.

Mend, redress, restore. When fisherman can’t go to sea, they repair nets. Take this as time to serve you in righting your relationship to your Self. Consider the uses of adversity. Rectification comes before progress.”

Nauthiz Constraint

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Well…OK! This says it all about what has been going on, does it not? The first thing we can take from this is that, the forces around us are at work and if we are “held in restraint” or are in a holding pattern, it is for a reason and not entirely our doing. We tend to blame ourselves when we can’t make something work or change and think we are inadequate or powerless. But…sometimes…it is because of other energies at work as well. So, the dissatisfaction we feel is not unreasonable.  Allow yourself the space to feel what you feel.

BUT…and isn’t there always one!…the primary thing to know is that, while this period of constraint is upon us, it is the perfect time to take to examine ourselves and our identities and…as the Rune says…get in touch with our shadow side. That side that we do not always want to look at or that we keep hidden or in denial. There are lessons there, and things we need to work on to improve our quality of life and to straighten out things that may have become tangled up. When these things tangle, it becomes even more difficult to make choices, decisions, or see clearly. If we embrace working on these things, we will see that they are important to our growth and are actually guides and teachers. Adversity is a most profound teacher. Embrace it and be grateful for the lesson, because it will open up your life in some way. Take it on with good will.

Nauthiz Adversity

As with the fishermen…if you can’t do what you think you are supposed to be doing now or if you are in an enforced holding pattern…use the time wisely to look within, work on your issues, explore the depths of your soul and get to know your True Self. Mend and restore what has not been right with you. Progress is impeded because this necessary step needs to be taken. If you take this step, embrace it and make it work for you, then progress and moving forward will be natural, easy, and greater than you can even imagine right now.

Don’t take up this time and clog it with worry, stress or blame. If this restraint is happening anyway…how would you rather choose to spend it? Being miserable, angry or finding fault…or…connecting with your Wiser Self and cleaning up what might be holding you back. It is your choice. Do what is best…for You!

Rune For A Monday

Since last evening, I have had a small voice within nudging me to seek the Runes for today’s post. So, as with all messages, I heed the call and gather the Rune stones and “The Book of Runes” by Ralph Blum to see what wisdom they are to impart to us today. And the Rune that comes to my hand is:

Algiz

Algiz:  “Protection, Sedge or Rushes”

Message (paraphrased):   “Control of the emotions is at the issue here. During times of transition, shifts in life course and accelerated self-change, it is important not to collapse yourself into your emotions – the highs as well as the lows. New opportunities and challenges are typical of this Rune. And with them will come trespasses and unwanted influences.

Algiz serves as a mirror for the Spiritual Warrior, the one whose battle is always with the Self. The protection of the Warrior is like the warning rustle of the sedge grass, which serves to keep open space around you. Remain mindful that timely action and correct conduct are the only true protection. If you find yourself feeling pain, observe the pain, stay with it. Don’t try to pull the veil down and escape from life by denying what is happening. You will progress; knowing that is your protection.”

Algiz Warrior

from The Desk of MarDrag:

“Control of the emotions”…not always an easy thing to accomplish. With all the movement in our lives these days…transitions, change, self-growth, world upset and change, great successes or great disappointments…emotions erupt, whether good or bad. It seems the energy has accelerated, time has sped up.

It is a lot to handle.

What Algiz is telling us here is…strive for Balance, daily. It may sound easier said than done, but it is the very thing that will cradle us and carry us forward. Taking care of the Self is one of the most important things necessary to our quality of life in the current chaos. We must Protect ourselves by paying close attention to what our Soul and Higher Self tell us about right action.

Algiz Protection

An animal standing in a field listens for the rustle of the sedge grass or rushes to alert him of something or someone approaching. He will then have a moment to sense if there is danger or if he is safe. Use your senses as Protection and keep that clear space around you so you can have time to assess what is happening in your life and make better choices.

Algiz Sedges

Do not shy away or hide. Now is the time to step into your life, being fully present, and face what is happening…with the knowledge that, as a Spiritual Warrior, you have all that you need to progress. Be Brave and Seek Balance.

Blessings!

Rune For A Monday

Welcome Back to Monday! I hope everyone had a lovely long holiday weekend! After time off and celebration…it is difficult to get back into the flow of “regular” life…so to start our Monday off this week, I was drawn to pulling a Rune (from my set and book by Ralph Blum)…and here is the symbol that presented itself with its message for the week:

Laguz

Laguz: Flow, Water, That Which Conducts

Message: “Unseen powers are active here, creative and fertile powers of Nature. The attributes of this Rune are water, fluidity, the ebb and flow of tides and emotions, of careers and relationships. Laguz fulfills our need to immerse ourselves in the experience of living…without having to evaluate or understand. It speaks to the desire for comfort and the satisfaction of emotional needs, to the lunar side of our nature. For while the sun strives for differentiation, the moon draws us toward unity and merging.

This Rune often signals a time for cleansing: for revaluing, reorganizing, realigning. A Rune of deep knowing, Laguz may call you to study spiritual matters in readiness for self-transformation. Success now lies in contacting your intuitive knowing, in attuning to your rhythms. A Rune of the Self relating rightly to the Self, Laguz signifies what alchemists called the conjunctio, or sacred marriage. In fairy tales, it is the end where the hero and heroine live happily ever after.”

from The Desk of MarDrag:

Well…there is most definitely a pattern emerging from the messages we have sought these past couple of weeks. This is the third in as many weeks that speak about Cleansing, Water, and Flow. I think a tide is turning…and we are being counseled to “go with the flow”…instead of against it. Laguz talks about the ebb and flow of life…as well as the active forces around us…and tells us to become as fluid as the water.

There may be changes or upheavals in our lives right now…but Laguz says we are not being called to evaluate them or understand them (just yet)…but to flow with them as they merge into our lives. Rather than trying to understand all that is going on, or change it…we should spend our energy on examining what holds value to us, and reorganizing our priorities. It calls on us to be in contact with our intuitive side…listening to that Inner Wiser Voice…and turning to the study of the spiritual aspect of life so that we may be in better touch with the Self. When the Self “relates rightly” with the Self…a deeper connection with our Spirit, Truth, and Power is created. A unity occurs…within and with the Self. It is in that unity that we find exactly what we desire to fulfill our needs.

Laguz River

Cleansing, water, tears and flow are the message here…so continue to cleanse yourself of negative energy and thought…rinse them away in the water…allow the cleansing tears to come…and go with the flow of what is happening (for now)…until the energy transforms…as it always does. Seek answers in the spiritual realm…because understanding in the physical is not within our grasp at the moment.

We are being called to Trust our paths…and the Wisdom of God and the Higher Powers and the Universe…and to take care of our own rhythms that guide us on that path. Be Present, See to our needs…and all, in the end, will be well.

Blessings!
